Rabea's Pet Sitting

Rabea's Pet Sitting Providing pet hosting and pick up/drop off service. I have a Certificate 2 in Animal Studies and Certificate 3 in Companion Animal Services.

I am an experienced pet sitter, having worked with Madpaws for six years and also volunteering with various shelters across Melbourne. So you could say I am both experienced and qualified to care for your pet/s. My ABN is: 64 86347 9650 and I have public liability insurance. Further I have a current Working With Children Check and a Police Check, as does my husband, because of current and previou

s work positions. We intend to keep both up to date. We have fostered guinea pigs and dogs over many years as well as owning our own dogs, cats and guinea pigs in the past, including growing up with animals. So you can feel confident that we will love and care for your animals like they are our own. I always provide updates and photos of owner's pets, while the owners are away, to give them peace of mind and so they can relax and enjoy their holiday or time away, while we are caring for their beloved pets. I am also up to date with all COVID vaccinations and have an annual influenza vaccination as well - which is also a requirement for my other role as a carer for the aged. The other things I wanted to add is that apart from pet hosting dogs and guinea pigs (where animals stay in our home), I also offer a pick up/drop off service at $20 for each service. My pet hosting fees are $38 a night, which has remained the same for the past couple of years, as I am very conscious of the cost of living for my clients. If your dog/s stays more than 7 nights, I give a 10% discount. I only accept two dogs at a time, and if they are from different households and have not met before, there needs to be a meet and greet beforehand to ensure the dogs get along and can stay together. Guinea pig fees are $10 a night (doesn't matter if there are 1, 2 or 3 guinea pigs staying), regardless of how many nights they stay with us. We only have enough room for 3 guinea pigs at any one time, provided they are from the same household. These are kept in a separate room away from the dogs, separated by a baby gate.

I was saying to Bobbi's mum earlier how nice he smells.
She replied ,"I just gave him a bath as he wasn't smelling the best."
In our backyard, after wandering around , barely here more than half an hour, Bobbi decided he didn't like how nice he smelt.
So..... you guessed it, he found something to roll in! πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
At a guess, I would say possum poo or wee πŸ™ˆπŸ™„

Bobbi has arrived at the Ford household 😊
It is his first stay with us, but he seems to enjoy sitting on the couch, and he is right next to me when I'm on the couch.
He will be really good company while I continue to recover from Shingles.
He is not used to guinea pigs, so when he barked at them, I had to tell him a couple of firm no's.

Chu Chu and P***y have a clean enclosure again, but it won't last long.
But they were so happy about it, they did lots of popcorning! By the time I got my phone so I could get a video or photos, they had finished πŸ™„ Typical.
The dog that was meant to come stay last Thursday, then yesterday, is now coming tomorrow. Owner knows I am recovering from Shingles so she said this gives me more time to rest and recover.
Anyway, here is a photo of the girls. P***y was quick to bury her head under the fresh hay πŸ˜†

I managed to find grass for Chu Chu and P***y, not as easy at the moment because this hot, dry weather is almost killing our grass. But they are happy little piggies now πŸ˜„
You wouldn't think I gave their enclosure a clean yesterday. As per owners instructions, I will clean the part under their igloos again today. It's a daily task.
The next doggy's visit has been postponed by a day, but will post photos once he arrives 😊

Hi everyone,
Happy New Year to all! πŸŽŠπŸŽ‰
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and new year 😊😊
Sorry I haven't posted anything lately, but my Christmas present last year was Shingles, although not diagnosed and confirmed until just before the new year.
It was hard to diagnose what I had as it started with what felt like a migraine accompanied by nausea, but no sensitivity to light, then chills and body aches, thinking I had the flu. Then came the horrible, painful rash (on my face and neck) and I was convinced I had been bitten by a nasty spider πŸ•· 😭
Anyway, I have antiviral medication now and stronger painkillers as Nurofen, Panadol and aspirin were not helping.
Women do get Shingles more than men, and are more vulnerable when going through menopause, lucky me.
But it can also be caused by a weak immune system or stress, or sometimes there is no reason. But Shingles does get activated in your nerves. Just some things I learnt.

And while I can vaccinated, I have to wait 12 months. As I am not 65 + years old, I will need to pay a fee of $600 for both vaccinations (3 months apart). That's the fee for 2025.

The worst for me has been the excruciating nerve pain made worse when I lie down, so I hardly got any sleep. But I'm on the mend now.

Although Maya has gone home, she has been such a huge comfort to me , especially at night when I couldn't sleep or tried sleeping upright.
She would come and nudge me, as if to say "Give me a pat, all will be ok." ❀️
Cuddling the guinea pigs has helped, too. I love how animals can make you feel better when you are unwell.
Mark has helped with many things, too, of course, including taking me to the GP, getting my medicines and trying to convince me to go to the hospital when I was in excruciating pain.

But I said no (he said i'm very stubborn), hospitals are overrun this time of year, I would rather not be isolated in a hospital room, I'd rather be at home.
But at times he felt helpless. I felt sorry for him as I was keeping him awake so he wasn't getting much sleep either.
Here are a couple of photos I managed to take of Maya and the guinea pigs.

Look how shiny her coat is 🀩
Maya is about 15 now, I think, but still a happy girl who just LOVES her pats, cuddles and kisses πŸ’‹
While Maya may not be able to walk very far anymore due to arthritis, is also going deaf and starting to get cataracts , she gives soooo much love ❀️ and many wet kisses πŸ’‹
She has the company of two guinea pigs who came to us a week ago.
P***y (with the rock star hair do) and Chu Chu have not stayed with us before, but they are enjoying it.
They are quite chatty at times and love the extra veggies I have been feeding them. They came with carrots πŸ₯• but I soon discovered they barely touched them.
Yes, I know, I spoil them πŸ˜„
Anyway, here are a few photos. Enjoy your weekend everyone πŸ˜€

Good morning everyone,
Well, it's that time of the year again.
I want to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year πŸŽ‰ 😊 πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸ€Ά
I also want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your continued support throughout 2024, it is very much appreciated. Looking forward to many more walks and laughs with your pets in 2025 (we don't walk the guinea pigs though πŸ˜‰).
This photo of my father in law's cat, Twitch, was taken a few years ago, but ideal for Christmas, I thought. She is lying right in front of the Nativity Scene.
Don't let that smile fool you, Twitch can change her mood often, which is typical of a Tortoiseshell cat πŸ˜†
My father in law often calls her " T- witch." πŸ˜‚

As i was driving down the street my sister in law lives in, I saw Santa hanging from a tree! His poor arms will be very sore by next week.
Hope he can keep hanging on πŸ˜‰πŸ˜†

This weekend we had Sonny stay with us, who will be back in about two weeks to spend some time with her buddy, Maya.
Sonny LOVES her walks, she does sooo much sniffing πŸ˜† but that's good as dogs need to do some social networking.
This morning Sonny walked around, then through our big bushes of agapanthas.
When she came out, she had cobwebs all over her! πŸ˜‚
Maybe she didn't realise Halloween is over πŸ€” πŸ˜„
I told her "I can't send you home later today looking like this." So I brushed all the cobwebs off her. I didn't have my camera handy at the time to get a photo.
But here are a few other photos of Sonny.

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all well and surviving this tropical weather we have been having.
Just wanted to let you all know, I already have a booking for January, 2026! I know, right?
The ever so adorable, fluffball Harvey is booked in. Have had to make a note and stick it to my desk as you can't yet get calendars or diaries for 2026 yet πŸ˜†
Thank you for the early booking, Emma and Harvey πŸ˜πŸ•πŸΆ
Enjoy the rest of your week πŸ¦‹πŸ‘‹

Hi everyone,
Are you stuck for a Christmas gift idea? Do you like craft or soap workshops?
I met the wonderful lady behind her small business of selling home made soaps and baskets, amongst other things, her name is Sharnn.
I bought some soaps from her today which I intend to gift to a couple of people. Sharnn and I had such a nice chat together and she usually sells her items at markets, like in Kallista and Monbulk, but she hasn't been able to get a stall at the markets for December, so she has been advertising.
And I am keen to help her out by letting you all know about this and in the hope you might support Sharnn and her small business like you have all supported me over the years.
I thank you all very much for supporting me, by the way 😊
Anyway, here are Sharnn's two pages and some more information about what she sells and the workshops she holds.
Thanks all for reading this and enjoy the rest of your week, heard it is going to get hot.
Might need to get the oven mits out for driving, haha πŸ˜„

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all well and enjoying the weekend πŸ˜€
Just a couple of items of news: I still have availability for Dec 1st - 11th, 2024.
And I have just had a cancellation for March, 2025, for the Labour Day long weekend, so if you are planning a get away and need your pooch or piggies looked after, please get in touch with me 😊
Don't forget I give a 10% discount if your dog/s (up to two) stay more than 7 nights with us πŸ˜‰
If money is a little tight, but you fancy a get away, especially with Christmas coming up, give me a call or send me a text, don't be shy, as I reckon we can work something out πŸ˜„
Ok, that's it from me for now .
Have a fantastic weekend!! πŸ˜€
