Curly Tails Bowen and Animal Therapies

Three-year-old Remy, a very cute tiny Chihuahua, strutted into my clinic back in October with a noticeable hitch in his step. His owner had been worried about the intermittent lameness in his rear leg, and after a thorough veterinary exam and X-rays that revealed no clear issues, Remy came to me for a closer look and a more holistic approach. 🌱 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tiny dogs like Remy often face patella problems—loose kneecaps that cause discomfort—but not this little guy. His patellas were perfectly intact. However, my assessment uncovered a different challenge: Remy’s hock joints, equivalent to a human’s ankles, were loose and unstable, leaving his soft tissue overworked and inflamed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Determined to help Remy regain his confident stride, we focused our efforts on strengthening the soft tissue around his hocks and reducing the inflammation causing his discomfort and also on his back which had become tight and tense while compensating for his hindquarter issues. Remy eagerly embraced his gentle treatments, relaxing under my hands as though he instinctively understood they were helping him heal. 🙌🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To complement his therapy, I started him on a tailored combination of supplements, each one carefully chosen to fortify and strengthen his connective tissue. Slowly but surely, Remy began to move with greater ease, his little frame becoming more stable with every session. 💪 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Remy’s is a little bundle of joy and energy, he greeted each visit with a wagging tail and a happy little face. 🩵 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With every step he takes, Remy reminds me why I love what I do: helping little dogs like him live their best lives, one small, steady stride at a time. Say hi to Loki, a beautiful Rottweiler who thinks he’s a big lap dog! Loki had been struggling to get up after exercise, and his wobbly back legs, (known as ataxia) were causing concern for his family. Despite being on anti-inflammatory medications, his symptoms would return as soon as the course ended.To help Loki, we introduced gentle therapies and made a few lifestyle adjustments, like prescribing short walks only to prevent overexertion. Loki has been receiving Bowen therapy, red light treatment, and cold laser therapy with us, and the results have been amazing! Even after his first session, Loki’s owner noticed a difference, he was whinging less and seemed more comfortable. Now, after a few sessions, this wonderful boy is walking so much better and is no longer wobbly in his hindquarters. Loki has such a special way of showing his appreciation. He’ll back himself into me so I can work on all his sore spots, then turn his big, adorable head to give me “The Look,” as if to say, “That’s the spot, don’t stop!” He’s like a giant teddy bear with a heart of gold. 💛 We’re so proud of how far Loki has come and grateful to be part of his healing journey. Meet Chester, the Sweetest Little Poodle! 🩵🩵 Chester is a 10-year-old Poodle who came to me experiencing weakness in his back legs, a painful back, and a lack of his usual enthusiasm. His vet had diagnosed arthritis in his hips, and his owner noticed he was yelping while playing with his favorite toys. Poor Chester had even stopped wagging his tail and was holding it down, a clear sign that he was in discomfort. During his first session, I also found some restrictions in his neck and shoulder. After just one treatment, Chester showed a remarkable improvement; he was already pulling his owner down my driveway and into the treatment room for his next session! With a few more treatments, Chester’s owner reported wonderful progress. He’s no longer yelping, has become much more playful, and best of all - his tail hasn’t stopped wagging! At his last session, his tail was in full swing the entire time, showing how much better he’s feeling. Now, Chester is ready to move onto a maintenance plan to keep him happy and mobile. This little cutie is Zeus, a Dachshund dynamo who has been working hard to bounce back from a pesky soft tissue injury in his hip flexor/adductor area. 💚💚 It was causing him quite a bit of pain & discomfort, but thanks to Bowen therapy initially, followed up by weekly cold laser treatments to speed up the healing process plus his amazing owners keeping up with physio exercises at home, Zeus is now steadier and more balanced on his hindquarters. 👏 But let’s be honest: Zeus doesn’t just love his treatments for the healing benefits; he’s in it for the peanut butter and treats too! 🥜 During the infrared portion of his sessions, Zeus enjoys a VIP experience with one of our lickimats smothered in his favourite treat. Puppy Play: Cute, Clumsy, and Sometimes a Little Rough! 🐾 Let’s be honest—puppies are the perfect mix of super cute and wildly clumsy. If they’re not tumbling over their own paws, they’re full on rough and tumble wrestling like their lives depend on it with their siblings. 💥 😁 Breeders know this well. Those adorable wrestling matches with siblings are all fun and games until one of them gets hurt. That’s where Bowen therapy comes to the rescue! A full-body soft tissue session to help straighten out those ouchies and kinks they picked up while trying to grow into their paws; either before or after they head off to their new homes, is a great idea! 👍🏼 Arthur and Aura’s breeder was totally on it! She brought these two Cavalier cuties in for a full-body tune-up. Older brother Archer, who’s already a regular came along to show them how it’s done like a seasoned pro. 💪 So, if your puppy’s zoomies are more of a “trip, roll, crash,” maybe it’s time for a Bowen session to balance things out. Meet Yuri, an adorable 9-month-old German Shorthaired Pointer puppy who’s been growing fast and running even faster! 🐾 When he first came to us, he had developed an overbite as a young pup, and we were hopeful that certain Bowen and Emmett moves could help guide his jaw to grow out more evenly. Using some special techniques and other tips for at home I’m thrilled to say that his bite has improved significantly! 🎉⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀But, being the adventurous pup he is, Yuri’s latest antics led to a little neck injury. So, he’s been back for some extra Bowen and cold laser treatments to help him heal up and get back to his speedy, fun self. 💪✨
