✨ K-Tape ✨. It’s a wonderful tool to have and it can be used for many different reasons, including -but not limited to:-Mobility-Support-Encouragement for circulation. 🐾 What is kinesiology tape?It’s an elastic cotton material tape that has a hypoallergenic glue/adhesive layer that is used on humans and now making its way to animals to help with mobility, support, injury recovery and more. 🐾 Why use it?K-Tape is great to use because it can help aid in recovery. A little late into the new year and the month but it’s JANUARY and that means… It’s WALK YOUR DOG Month! 🐕 🚶🏽‍♀️ Everyone needs to walk and dogs are no exception to the basic health need. A good 30min walk (preferably twice a day) can help enrich your dogs mental state as well as exercise them. There’s no rule (it’s more a guideline) to how long or short your walk needs to be but if your dog is home all day while you’re at work, they’ll really appreciate the outdoor time. Walking can help relax your dog as well, the sniffing makes them work as they process everything and lets out all the stress. And why not mix it up? Make it fun and once a week, take your dog somewhere different then just around the block for the month. Places like: The beach (please look at your local dog laws when going to the beach during summer as some areas have restrictions) 🏝️ Hiking - look for local hikes or even a day trip with your 4-legged pal! (Again check restrictions as some parks don’t allow dogs) Down the Main Street - one of my girls fave places to go on an adventure, new people to meet and lots of fun smells. These are just a few ideas! Send/comment snaps of where you’ve taken your dog/s for a walk each week so we can see each others adventures! To think that just a month ago, this fella was starting his spell all tense and uncomfortable and didn’t want to give me any hints on what was going on with him. After a good, cruisey first session 4 weeks ago, our 2nd session was more of a success and this kid *COULD NOT* stop chewing, licking his lips or yawning! Massage time!! 🐴🐴 Due to there being no muscle from the knee down, only tendons and ligaments, the lower leg will always feel colder, so massaging the limb from upper forearm to the coronet band and heel bulbs will help increase circulation from top to bottom! Great for horses with arthritis and stiff joints as well as getting blood moving and helps lubricate the joints. Practice, practice, practice! Inflammation taping! 😅 Here’s a quick clip on what I found to be the trickiest taping to learn! Yeah it looks fun and should be pretty straight forward when you see examples from people who have been doing this for ages! But damn it’s fiddly and hard to get right! But I knew I was on the right track with this taping when the horses I was learning on gave me the right indications on it making them feel good! DID YOU KNOW…… Dogs and horses can also feel uncomfortable and cramping when they’re on heat? I’m sure all the ladies out there can vouch that it’s not the greatest feeling if you suffer from cramps and the other not-so-fun-stuff that comes with that fun time 😅 While some mares and b*tches don’t show much during being on heat, some can become whiny and super uncomfortable (for the dogs) and mares can be known to be super sensitive over the ovaries and along their lower back, particularly over the flanks. Taping can really help with blood flow in these problem areas which can help with swelling and cramping and make them feel better within themselves 👌🏼 🐴💜🐴💜 One of my mares (shown here in the video) is an absolute tart when she’s in season and the only obvious signs she shows is running her butt against a fence and yesterday she decided to go even further and kick out at the gelding next door and hurt her leg 🤦🏽‍♀️ She’s a very stoic mare and doesn’t give much of an indication where and how she’s hurting but after a big circulation taping and a relief taping on her flank and right-hand side of her SI joint, the yawns and lip smacking won’t stop! 💜🐴💜🐴 I’ll post some more taping ideas shortly to help the gals out but feel free to email/inbox me for any and all enquiries! #nosetotailmassage #kinesiologytapingforaninals #canineandequinetherapy
