Round two....

WHO WANTS TO PLAY A GAME???

Did you know that the Australian Veterinary Association believe that almost 40% of Australian owned dogs are overweight or obese?? 😱
Just like with us humans, the foods our doggos consume plays a big part in the weight they carry.
But do you know how much added weight those extra tid bits we give our dogs actually adds to their ever growing waste lines? What might be a small snack to us, could actually be a big unhealthy calorie filled meal for them.
Let’s play a game, can you guess which one of the following human sized meals equals the small snack you give your dog??
Answer below....

It’s a hard day when you get to snuggle with a whole litter of wiggly little 6 week old puppies, but hey... someone has to do it right? 🀣

We were so lucky to get to vaccinate and microchip these little cuties last week. Can you guess how many babies there is in this litter??

Remember we have a litter price for vaccination and microchipping. If you have had a litter recently, call us for a quote today. 🐾🐾

This week we sadly lost one of our very special patients Wilbur.
Wilbur was 15 and a half years of age when he got his wings and a very important and special companion to his Mum.
Wilbur was always such a gentleman when we visited him. He always greeted us at the door, no matter how tired or sore he was feeling on the day.
We are thinking of Wilbur’s mum this week who will be feeling his loss immensely.
Rest In Peace Wilbur, it was an honour to know you. 🐾

Yesterday we were lucky enough to visit with our clients Monika and Earle and do a health check on their brand new rescue dog Daisy!! 😍
Daisy has an extra special job to do, helping her new Mummy and Daddy to heal their hearts after they lost their beautiful dog Quamby to cancer earlier this year.

Whilst Earle and Monika will tell you they are the lucky ones to be accepted to be Daisy’s new paw parents, we know too that Daisy is a very lucky girl to have found such a loving and devoted second and forever home.

Daisy got the all clear from Dr Lauren, and you can see here that she is quiet happy getting the full tip to tail check up with nurse Kerrie.
Rescue is such a rewarding outcome for everyone, pet, owner and adoption organisation.

We are so happy for Monika and Earle and of course Miss Daisy. We wish them many, many happy years together!!! 🐾

(Daisy was adopted from Labrador Rescue)

Are your eyes starting to itch and has your nose started to run?? Ahhhh the joys of springtime for people who suffer from hay fever. 🀧
But did you know that hay fever for our pets presents very differently? Yes, our pets can get allergic reactions to the change in our season, the rise in pollens and allergens in our air too.
But good news, there are great medications that can help our four legged friends who suffer with atopy. If you are worried your pet might be suffering, give us a call and we can talk you through your options. 😊

Naughty nurse Kerrie forgot that yesterday was National Ginger Cat Appreciation Day!!

It’s naughty because she is owned by two ginger ninjas herself!!
So in honour of our feisty red heads, albeit a day late, post your ginger kitties below so we can all appreciate their orange beauty!!

It’s the first day of Spring, and with the warm weather and blossoms comes some painful symptoms for our pets too!!

At this time of year, almost every day, we see pets presenting with the same complaint, itchy skin and ear infections!!
Did you know pets get hayfever too, but it effects them differently. They can get itchy feet and flanks and even ear infections!!

Is your pet suddenly itchy? An Itch or Pruritus is caused by 4 main reasons and they can all appear the same when looking at your pet:

1- external parasites - fleas, mites, dermatophytes

2- food allergies - quite rare and they dogs are allergic to protein in meats and NOT grains

3-Contact with grasses - emerging more now in the pateints I see

4- Atopy - the equivalent to human hayfever- very very common disease that I treat every week.

Did you know Vet To Home are still open and conducting house calls during this latest lockdown??
With a few protocol changes, we are still able to visit and take care of our animal friends at their home.
If you need to get your pet seen by Dr. Lauren we can talk you through how this can happen even in Stage 4 restrictions.

Here is Dr. Lauren visiting one of our gorgeous patients Opie for his final kitten vaccination last week. 😻 It’s important to keep up to date with our pets vaccination schedules, especially the new babies like Opie.

Yesterday nurse Kerrie had her boys, Frank (little) and Ralph (big) see Dr. Lauren for their annual vaccinations and health check.
Poor Ralph suffers from anxiety, and going to a vet clinic can be very stressful for him and everyone involved. So it is a perfect solution to see Dr. Lauren at home. Everyone was very relaxed, and now they have a clean bill of health and another year until they need to see Dr. Lauren again. 😊
