Important Hay Update

This year’s hay season has been challenging, and like many others, we have limited low sugar hay available for the year.

For those who rely on our low-sugar hay, we strongly recommend placing a pre-order to secure your supply and ensure you have enough to see you through.

If storage is an issue and you can only purchase a few bales at a time, we’re happy to store your hay for you and coordinate pickups or deliveries as needed.

We will continue to receive our regular weekly stock while supplies last, but availability is limited, so it’s best to plan ahead.

To secure your order, pre-payment is required for the amount you’d like to secure. As this can be a large outlay for some, we are looking at introducing after-pay in store by the end of this week.

Please get in touch with us as soon as possible to arrange your hay and ensure you’re well-prepared for the year.

🌾 What’s in the Bale? 🌾

At Elite Equine Nutrition, we pride ourselves on sourcing the finest quality, low-sugar tested hay. Our premium hay includes a selection of grasses such as Fog, Fescue, Cocksfoot, Brome Grass, and Sweet Vernal. The exact grass blends depend on which paddock the hay is sourced from, ensuring variety while maintaining the highest quality.

These grasses are ideal for many horses, including those prone to weight related issues such as obesity, EMS, laminitis, or head-shaking. They offer a comparatively low nutrient density, allowing horses to consume hay safely without the risk of excess calorie intake.

On occasion, minimal Rye grass may sneak into a cut. While this can be difficult to prevent due to wildlife and natural factors, there’s no need to worry—our hay is always tested to ensure it remains low in sugar.

- Cocksfoot and Fescue – Generally lower in protein, making them a perfect base forage in a horse’s diet.
- Cocksfoot, Sweet Vernal, and Fog – A great source of fibre to support digestive health.
- Sweet Vernal, Fog, and Brome – Grasses that are typically low in NSC (non-structural carbohydrates) and calories, while providing excellent fibre content.

The quality of our hay speaks for itself—once again, we have sold out! But don’t worry, stock will be replenished this week, so you can continue to provide your horses with the best forage available.

While these grasses make exceptional hay, it’s important to supplement your horse's diet with a balanced feed to ensure they receive all their essential daily nutrients.

You can now visit us at the Industrial Garden Estate, 14/64-86 Beresford Road, Lilydale—right across from the playground. Our new store offers not just a fresh setting, but also the expertise of our in-house, qualified nutritionist. We are here to provide you with reliable advice tailored to your horse’s needs, ensuring that your equine companion's well-being remains our top priority!
