We are beyond excited to announce our collaboration with local artist who created this beautiful artwork for our International Dog Day shirt.

We created this shirt in honour of International Dog Day (26th of August) serves as a platform to raise awareness about the welfare, well-being, and rights of dogs around the world. This special day highlights the invaluable role that dogs play in our lives as loyal friends, therapy animals, working partners, and family members. By promoting adoption, responsible pet ownership, and humane treatment of all dogs, International Dog Day advocates for a world where every dog is loved, respected, and cared for.

The proceeds of this shirt will go to Pets of the Homeless Australia which provides food, veterinary care, and other support to the pets of people experiencing or facing homelessness. Their mission is to keep pets and humans together through difficult times. They provide this support in a judgment-free environment so that every person experiencing or facing homelessness can feel supported in their actions to care for and stay with their pet.

MEET THE TEAM

Indi has a genuine passion for dogs and a lifetime of experience. She brings a unique blend of hands on experience, enthusiasm and practical insights into canine behaviour and the diverse needs of the varied breeds.

In addition to her work with dogs, she is the Director, Performer & Teacher at the The Improv Conspiracy Theatre. She has also completed a Masters of Politics and a Bachelor of Education.

I’ve just returned from an epic adventure to Kenya, to visit with my sister and her family so our babies could hang out together. I wanted to share some of the incredible animals we encountered whilst on safari at the Masai Mara. I know you’re all animal lovers and would appreciate their beauty as much as we did. Seeing the big cats in real life was truely a magical experience, one I’ll never forget.

Big shout out to my team - Sion, Indi & Ella for taking such great care of our dogs in my absence. I’ve had nothing but positive feedback which really warms my heart.

To communicate with dogs, you must learn to send them messages which they can comprehend, and you must also understand messages which they send back to you.

Humans use complex structure of words to communicate with one another. We sometimes believe that dogs understand what we are saying, however, dogs and other animals rely heavily on body language to communicate. They use their ears, tails, mouth, stance and eye contact to communicate with humans. When using voice to communicate dogs pick up on tone.

Another year is coming to an end and we have so much to be thankful for.

I’d like to thank, firstly, our customers. We have the best customers and I’m not just talking about the dogs! We’re treated with so much warmth, gratitude and respect for what we do, which makes our job even more enjoyable.

I’m beyond grateful for my hardworking, trustworthy, loyal and kind staff members who have gone above and beyond to provide super fun and safe walking experiences for the dogs.

Last, but absolutely not least, the dogs. We are so fortunate to be walking in the company of angels day to day. We love the dogs we have in our pack, and can’t wait to see them all again next year for more fun.

We have opened up extra group walks from the 18-22nd December to ensure your dog is taken care of whilst you wrap up work projects and attend the many social events on offer at this manic time of year.

The discounted walk can only to be used in addition to your regular booking. Once purchased, simply send us an email with the extra days you’d like to book in.

About: I’m super friendly by nature, I love all humans, kids and dogs. Over the years I’ve developed the ability to respond to pretty complex commands, especially when it involves retrieving a ball. Not to blow my own horn or anything, but I’m pretty athletic too and do well in most dog related sports. I’m happy go lucky, here to raise the vibes, if you’re having a bad day, I’m always here for a cuddle.

We’ve found all the best off lead walking spots in Melbourne. Our walking locations are away from main roads, in designated off lead dog spaces, and our vehicles are parked in close proximity to where we walk.

Our group walks go for a full hour, not including pick up and drop off, in safe off-lead areas where dogs are free to explore the natural smells and sounds of the environment and bond with likeminded companions.

Meet the team!

Claudia is one of our Dog Sitters and is a lifelong animal lover who’s never missed an opportunity for a pat with any dog, ever! Having grown up with working breeds she appreciates a long walks with plenty of sniffing opportunities, rain or shine.

Beyond hanging out with your fur-babies, she is studying Social Work and enjoys pottery, live music and cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

If you’re lucky enough to secure Claudia as your dog sitter, you can completely relax while you’re away knowing how loved and cared for your doggy will be in her care. She treats every dog as her own, taking them with her to the beach and country on weekends.

Our Group Walks are not available from Saturday 23rd of December returning Monday 8th of January.

Hutt & Hound is dedicated to the safety, health and wellbeing of your dog. We pride ourselves on our risk reduction practices and go above and beyond to ensure your dog is safe whilst in the care of our team.

Now summer is upon us, it’s time to talk about Snake season which typically runs between October to April. The safety of our dogs takes precedence over playing in lush locations during this time. To ensure risk is minimised we avoid high-risk snake prone areas with long grass and bush land. We instead will play in ovals, parks, and swim in locations with lots of doggy & human traffic. Our adventures won’t be as picturesque but that doesn’t limit how much fun we can have with the dogs.

Christmas is 5 weeks away 🫢 how did that happen so fast? Ideally we’d take our dogs with us everywhere, but sometimes that’s just not possible. We are here to help! We have a small team of dedicated dog sitters who are available to care for your dog while you’re away visiting family.

About: I’m sassy but submissive. Don’t be fooled by my exterior, I’m actually a big softy. I love social time with my buddies, but I love my family more than anything, especially when they take me to the beach. Protecting them is my job and what I take pride in. I’m full of charisma and pretty intelligent too. If you come too close, I’ll give you a big sloppy kiss.

Adam is one our lead dog walkers. He has a huge passion for dogs and knowledge of dog behaviour. Growing up he attended dog obedience classes with his mother who was a dog trainer.

He is confident in handling dogs of all size and varying breeds. In addition to working at Hutt & Hound Adam also works at Kip doggy daycare in Brunswick as a lead animal attendant and plans to study the NDTF certification to continue to grow his knowledge and understanding of dogs.

We are so thrilled to have Adam on the team. He treats the dogs with the warmth and respect they deserve whilst ensuring their safety at all times.

The dogs are transported to and from home in the comfort of our small vans. At the end of each group walk we spray the van with a highly effective, broad spectrum disinfectant used in many veterinary surgeries, called F10, which kills viruses & bacteria. Providing a clean and safe space for the dogs whilst on the road to the park is top priority.

Meet the team!

Charlie, is a passionate dog lover who grew up with a very energetic family Labrador.

She enjoys hiking in the great outdoors, having recently walked the length of New Zealand!

In addition to walking doggies she is undertaking a tattoo apprenticeship and is a talented illustrator.

Oh! And did we tell you, she skydives almost every week, having completed over 100 jumps!

We are so proud to have Charlie on the team. She’s dedicated to creating a super fun and safe experience for your dog on a group walk.

Hutt & Hound no longer accept casual/ad-hoc bookings. We require a minimum of one weekly walk on an on-going basis. This not only ensures that your dog has a regular spot with us but it also enables them to form a stronger bond with their doggie companions.

Nothing beats a good old fashioned bush walk 🐕

We never want to wish away summer, but with Autumn brings the end of snake season which means we can frolic & play in more wild and rugged locations. We love curating different locations each week for the dogs to explore and we’ve felt a little restricted during peak snake season. Watch this space to see where we venture to each week. 🙏
