Today, on International Dog Day, we pause to recognise the incredible role dogs play in our lives and communities. Since its establishment in 2004, this day has highlighted not only the joy and companionship dogs bring us, but also the importance of promoting adoption, responsible ownership, and improved welfare standards worldwide.

At Hutt and Hound, we see firsthand the ways dogs enrich our daily lives — through play, connection, and the unconditional love they offer. Our mission is to create experiences that support both physical and mental wellbeing for dogs, while also building stronger bonds between dogs and their families.

From our group bushland walks to safe socialisation opportunities, we are dedicated to giving dogs more than just exercise — we give them enrichment, confidence, and community.

By Wednesday, the crew is in full swing—trust is high, tails are up, and the rhythms of the pack are smooth and effortless. You can feel it in the way they wait for each other, share the space, and vibe as a team.

This isn’t just a walk—it’s social enrichment, confidence building, and pure joy wrapped into one glorious outing.

We’re halfway through the week, and these dogs are thriving.

There’s something really special about dogs who see their mates every week. The excitement at pick-up, the ease in their play, the way they move as a little pack—it’s all part of the deeper fulfilment they get from regular catch-ups.

For many of our dogs, this weekly time with their buddies is more than just exercise—it’s a routine, a source of joy, and a big part of their social wellbeing.

Consistent friendships = confident, calm, and happy dogs.

Easter is a time to connect with your favourite creatures—two-legged and four.

Whether you’re heading away or hunkering down, we hope your long weekend is full of love and muddy paws.

But just a little reminder:

Not everything on the Easter table is safe for your furry family members!

Keep your pups safe by steering clear of:
• Chocolate (all kinds—even white!)
• Hot cross buns (sultanas and raisins = toxic)
• Lamb bones (splinter & cause serious harm)

If you’re sharing the love, opt for dog-safe treats or make your own with peanut butter, oats, and pumpkin!

Stay snuggly, and give your dog an extra scratch behind the ears from us. We’ll be back for more play on Tuesday.

When people see us out walking a@pack of dogs, we often get two reactions:

“Wow, that’s the best! Look how happy the dogs are! I love what you do!”

“How do you manage all these dogs? That seems irresponsible!”

We want to clear the air! We don’t just throw any dog into our pack. Our strict on boarding processes ensure a harmonious experience for everyone. Most of our dogs have been with us since they were puppies, creating a strong bond with our walkers and the other dogs in our pack.

All of our walkers have immense dog handling experience, which is crucial for maintaining a safe and fun environment.

Without services like ours, many dogs would be left at home without the interaction, stimulation, and exercise they need and deserve, leading to anxiety, unhappiness and destructive behaviours.

Our mission? To provide the best for our dogs every single day! Safety is our top priority, and second to that is FUN! and that’s why our clients are loyal and rave about our services.

We are beyond excited to announce our collaboration with local artist who created this beautiful artwork for our International Dog Day shirt.

We created this shirt in honour of International Dog Day (26th of August) serves as a platform to raise awareness about the welfare, well-being, and rights of dogs around the world. This special day highlights the invaluable role that dogs play in our lives as loyal friends, therapy animals, working partners, and family members. By promoting adoption, responsible pet ownership, and humane treatment of all dogs, International Dog Day advocates for a world where every dog is loved, respected, and cared for.

The proceeds of this shirt will go to Pets of the Homeless Australia which provides food, veterinary care, and other support to the pets of people experiencing or facing homelessness. Their mission is to keep pets and humans together through difficult times. They provide this support in a judgment-free environment so that every person experiencing or facing homelessness can feel supported in their actions to care for and stay with their pet.

Indi has a genuine passion for dogs and a lifetime of experience. She brings a unique blend of hands on experience, enthusiasm and practical insights into canine behaviour and the diverse needs of the varied breeds.

In addition to her work with dogs, she is the Director, Performer & Teacher at the The Improv Conspiracy Theatre. She has also completed a Masters of Politics and a Bachelor of Education.

I’ve just returned from an epic adventure to Kenya, to visit with my sister and her family so our babies could hang out together. I wanted to share some of the incredible animals we encountered whilst on safari at the Masai Mara. I know you’re all animal lovers and would appreciate their beauty as much as we did. Seeing the big cats in real life was truely a magical experience, one I’ll never forget.

Big shout out to my team - Sion, Indi & Ella for taking such great care of our dogs in my absence. I’ve had nothing but positive feedback which really warms my heart.
