I have decided I need to take a month off to let myself recover. During this time I encourage you to seek out another salon if need be. If you find you are happy to stay at another salon long term, I fully support your decision. As all the dog groomers say, there are enough dogs for all the dog groomers. I have learnt that I cannot overwork myself. This year is booked up with a lot of Sundays and extra late nights so there isn’t much I can do about that. But next year, I will be going down to a 5 day working week and will strictly stop grooming at 5pm. Apologies for any inconvenience and thank you for your support.

Dear beautiful customers. I’m having to really think about how this contact dermatitis is now affecting me. My eyelids are now swollen. My leg is swollen. I am an absolute mess of swollen inflamed itchiness. I have just worked 19 twelve hour days straight due to having to take time off recently and I feel I can’t go on like this. My options are to either take time off to look after myself and recover or sell the business. I am unsure of what I am going to do.

I am a sole business owner operator. Please understand and respect the fact that I work by appointment, one literally after the other. I allow time for the service that has been booked. I work alone and do it all myself. If I tell you we have to reschedule due to you arriving late, it is not because I am being mean or vindictive, it is because I literally do not have the time to complete the service and I won’t put myself through the stress. Please understand and respect my time and I will continue to love and pamper your beautiful pooch.

Many apologies to all that have appointments in the coming weeks but I am going to have to shut the shop for a few weeks as my hands are severely infected and getting them wet is making them worse each day. I took all of last week off to try to get on top of it and it was getting better, but I went back in today and they have gone downhill again. I need to get on top of the infection before I can go back to full time work. I understand this is very frustrating to those whose appointments will have to be cancelled and I'm very sorry as it may take several weeks but if I don't get on top of it now, I may have to quit the industry. Thank you for your understanding.
