Welcome Leo, a sweet and friendly boy who has chosen Barks and Rec for his first ever daycare experience 🖤 Leo joined the smaller dogs this morning and was quick to warm up, soon joining in snuffling for treats on the caterpillar and competing in games of fetch! Leo has been gentle and well-mannered, sharing the toys politely with the other kids 🥰 His first friend was Rupert, who he had such adorable play with, and he bounced around with Nancy as well! Outside Leo was content to just put his nose to the ground and explore, and by quiet time he lay down with staff for a cuddle and rest 🧸💤 It’s been lovely getting to meet you, we’re excited to see you back again!

The newest edition to our ever growing Miniature Dachshund collection is charming little Charlie 🌷 Having never been to a daycare before, Charlie was understandably a little shy around the other dogs initially, sticking by staff for confidence and some cuddles 🩷 However, as soon as the treat toys came out Charlie got amongst it, and within no time was joining in on games of fetch with the other little dogs! 🎉 Outside Charlie chased after more balls with Cilla and Hal, then chose to hang out with the other fellow dachies, Daphne and Bentley ☀️ After that morning of fun Charlie was ready to settle down for a rest at quiet time, picking out a blankie to dig into a comfortable pile and curl up on 😴 Well done on a great first day!

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming Benjy, a very handsome Australian Shepherd with energy to spare and curiosity to match! 🐶✨ From the moment he trotted through the door, he was inquisitive and eager to meet everyone, exploring every corner of his new playground with a wagging tail. 💫 Benjy dove straight into the fun, taking part in rip rips, treat toys, and group fetch like a pro! He loved being outside, stretching those long legs and bounding around like he owned the yard. 🌿☀️ During quieter moments, he would seek out his new human friends for treats, pats, and plenty of love, but by quiet time, our energetic boy wasn’t ready for a sleep just yet— instead settling in with our staff for some extra snuggles on a bed. 💕🐾 We’re sure you’ll rest well tonight beautiful boy! Welcome to our pack!

All wiggles and tail-wags is Betty, also here for her first ever day at daycare! 🖤 This playful pup took no time at all to settle into the group, mingling comfortably with everyone and adoring belly rubs from staff 🥰 She joined in games of fetch with Gustav and Zion, gave the tug toy a try, and put herself on a bed to do some chewing whenever she needed a break 🎾 Outside Betty absolutely loved the pools, splashing in them and retrieving toys from underwater like a pro, as well as running around with the group! 🌊☀️ This lucky lady got to experience quiet time outside, and found a comfortable spot in the sun to relax. Thank you for joining us, we’ve loved seeing you have so much fun! 💗

Daisy joined us this morning for her first EVER daycare visit and was so brave! 🌼 She is a recent rescue and still building confidence with new people, places and experiences, though has already shown us some of her silly, goofy and bouncy personality! ☀️ Daisy started the day bonding with staff, who gave her time to warm up at her own pace (as well as plenty of treats 😋). Soon she was ready to meet some of the more relaxed dogs, and it wasn’t long before she was chasing after balls, figuring out how to work the treat toys and even playing tug with Zion! Daisy particularly enjoyed our outdoor play space, snuffling in the sandpit and exploring the garden beds before initiating play with Lenny and Milo ✨ Welcome to the family Daisy, we are looking forward to seeing your personality shine even more on your second visit 💗

Another Greyhound makes for another great day - welcome Comet! ☄️✨ Comet was calm coming in this morning but was keen to meet fellow Greyhound Coco, who he hit it off with immediately! 😁 Comet was friendly with all the dogs, and fit in perfectly with the quiet crew. He loved getting pets from staff (who couldn’t resist his velvety coat!) as well as the occasional treat 🍖 Outside was a sniff adventure for Comet as he explored around, checking out the space and relaxing in the breeze 🪴 In true Greyhound fashion he was ready for nap-time early, dozing off on a comfortable mat. We’ve loved getting to know you, and are excited to see you make more friends in future visits! 💗

For the second year in a row, Barks and Recreation has been named Best Dog Daycare in Merri-bek by Quality Business Awards Australia. ✨

Handsome Harry heard that all the best greyhounds come to Barks and Recreation, so he decided to join us today! 😎 Brave Harry waltzed straight in without a care, and being the sweet and affectionate boy that he is, snuggled up to the humans and took as many pats and scritches as he could. He was also partial to a liver treat or two, and joined in with some treat puzzles with the group. Harry had a sort-of-play with fellow greyhound Milly, and joined Rex in peeing on EVERYTHING. He made himself at home on the beds under the heaters, reluctantly getting up to meet his dad at pick up time. Harry we are so glad you have joined us for daycare. We are looking forward to having you back later in the week for more smooches 🥰

🐾 Today we welcomed the beautiful Sadie, a graceful Irish Setter with a heart of gold and a love for naps (preferably with a blanket, of course!) 💅🛏️ She spent the morning taking it all in at her own pace — getting the lay of the land, and collecting treats and pats from the team. 🌟🐶 By lunchtime, Sadie was ready to join in with a few rounds of fetch and also enjoyed testing out the Kong wobbler!🍖 Come quiet time, Sadie was more than ready for another nap and would have been more than happy to snooze the afternoon away if only those other pesky dogs weren’t causing a ruckus 😂 Its been wonderful having you today Sadie, we can’t wait to see your gorgeous face again soon! 💕
