• Dogs and cats perceive sounds much louder than humans because they can hear better.
• Animals struggle to make sense of firework noises as they are not only extremely loud but also unpredictable.
They associate such noises with danger, and all their (survival-) instincts tell them to run to a place of safety.
• To animals, the flashes of light produced by fireworks seem just as threatening as the noises.
• The overall effect is comparable to thunder and lightning during storms, except that they last much longer (up to 48 hours before and after the festivities) - which often trigger a fear response in animal (astraphobia).
• Fireworks are closer to the ground than thunderstorms, so the impact can be even more overwhelming. What’s more, the lights and noises are accompanied by smoke and acrid smells.
💔They often react with panic, sometimes showing physical symptoms such as diarrhoea. This anxiety can lead to fearful escape tactics and can lead animals to scale high perimeter walls, jump through windows, get stuck in fences, end up wandering the streets for weeks, hit by cars, drowning, stolen & other tragic circumstances.

🐾A dog who is voluntarily surrendered to a Pound faces the fate of all dogs taken to the Pound. If not claimed, adopted or rescued the dog will generally be euthanised after a short period of time, regardless of age, breed or temperament.

🆘If you see a child or a pet in a hot car, ring 000 immediately.
It’s a police matter, regardless of whether it’s a child or a pet.
Cars can heat up in minutes, so they’ll despatch a car immediately to shatter the window. If the situation is beyond urgent you may not have time to wait for authorities. Take a photograph of the animal or child in the car before shattering the back window. The photo should show the trapped individual, also get a shot of the license plate for authorities. Take a screenshot of the temperature on your phone (before you shatter the car window) as proof you had no option. If the car owner emerges, you may still want to give this info to responding authorities.

Chance & Bruce have been found & are home safe!
Microchipped Male Staffy X have allegedly been stolen whilst tethered outside Woolworths at Werribee Plaza Victoria, 8.37pm 28/01/2024. CCTV allegedly captured the woman pictured below, remove Chance & Bruce leading them to the crossing, through a gap in the fence onto Barber Dve & continued walking. If you were in the area at this time please check Dash Cameras & CCTV Footage.
Police are currently in possession of
CCTV Footage & are Investigating.
3 “Chance” & “Bruce” are timid, loved family pets who will be frightened & fretting for their owners.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR DOG SAFE FROM THEFT!
🐾Nobody intends it, but lost dogs happen—and, usually, because of easily preventable oversights by well-meaning owners. A missing/stolen dog is a devastating experience. Though you can’t guarantee against every lost-dog scenario, you can increase the odds of keeping your pet safe with these common-sense strategies:
🐾Secure your dog in a tall fenced yard with locked gates. Cameras and Sensor lighting also provide a deterrent for Dog Theft. Preferably a dog door to allow the dog to safely enter the home.
🐾Missing dogs are often the result of an unsecured area or unleashed pet.
🐾On outings use a Superlockuplead. Never leave your dog unsupervised unless secured with an anti theft, lockable Superlockuplead. Many dogs get stolen.
🐾The number of dogs reported lost or stolen is on the rise.
🐾Consider a pet sitter, dog walker or pet daycare during the weekday.
🐾Have your dog microchipped. Ensure the contact details are correct.
🐾Spay or neuter your pets. They will be less likely to wander off in search of a mate. Less vulnerable to theft. There are health reasons for having dogs desexed, too... It greatly reduces aggression of one male dog towards another male and reduces certain forms of cancer.
🐾Train your dog. Dogs that have had formal obedience training are much less likely to end up in shelters, and not just because they are better behaved. They’re more likely to stop on command instead of running off, come back when called, and walk nicely on a leash.
🐾Get your dog Registered. Also attach an Identification Tag with your phone number engraved on it.
🐾Vital stats and photo evidence. Every pet owner should have each pet’s basic statistics readily available, including vaccination records, microchip details & a current colour photograph.
