🐾 Tip Tuesday: Touching the toe beans! 🐾
🐾 Tip Tuesday: Touching the toe beans! 🐾
Every Tuesday, we provide our foster carers with a new enrichment or desensitisation activity prompt to help our rescue dogs build confidence and comfort (and have fun!) in their new environments.
This week’s focus is on getting those adorable paw pads comfortable with being gently handled. It’s a crucial step in preparing our pups for routine vet visits and grooming sessions, making their transitions smoother and less stressful.
Our foster carers are the heart and soul of our rescue, offering the love and patience these dogs need to thrive. By engaging in activities like today’s toe bean touch, they’re setting our pups up for a lifetime of success.
Stay tuned for more tips and join us in celebrating their hard work and our pups’ incredible journeys!
Today’s 10/10 toe beans are of Pylos (available for adoption at https://www.savour-life.com.au/adopt-a-dog/search-now/view/81496)

⚠️🐾URGENT - FINAL PLEA: FEE WAIVED FOR SENIOR BOY ROBIN 🥺 🐾⚠️
We are running out of options for Robin and we just don’t understand why he is still in care.
There is not a soul who has come forward to foster or adopt this absolute sweetheart and we are now at the point where we will need to place him into a kennel environment just so he has a place to stay. We already know that he does not cope in these environments and are desperately seeking his forever home or foster carer.
Robin is an extremely sweet senior who acts like he’s seen a thousand lifetimes and none of them were kind. He is loving and affectionate but we know he’s missing that special someone. He is capable of sharing all of himself with a human that’s willing to love him in return.

🐾Could you be the special home Atlantis is looking for? 🐾
Atlantis is such an amazing pup! Despite being blind from birth, she has an incredible sense of confidence and a knack for adapting to her surroundings. With her adorable bat-sized ears and keen attention to smells and textures, Atlantis quickly creates a mental map of her environment and zips around effortlessly, even tackling stairs and obstacles like a pro. Even if she accidentally bumps into things, she simply shakes it off and keeps going with her resilient spirit.
This spunky little lady thrives on having a predictable routine and has settled in wonderfully with set wake-up, training, and nap times. She absolutely adores going for short walks on her bungee lead and easily follows the sound of your footsteps, making it a breeze to keep up with you. When walking on busier roads, Atlantis attentively listens for your voice and will eagerly follow a treat anywhere.
Despite her special needs, her care is not dissimilar from a dog with normal vision. With some minor home adjustments and a patient, understanding approach, Atlantis will thrive like any other dog.
Her ideal home would:
🐕 have a solid understanding of canine body language
🐕 be prepared to continue training Atlantis to adapt to a world she cannot see
🐕 avoid off leash dog parks where Atlantis could find herself in sticky situations
🐕 provide her with an environment that helps her feel safe
✅ extremely smart
✅ confident
✅ cat & dog friendly
✅ child friendly
✅ GSD x

Recently we were told about a mum dog who was dumped in the pound with her 10 puppies. We had to save her. She came all the way from NSW to find a life of love and safety for her family - we are so lucky to be able to provide that for her. Her and the pups will need additional support, so please donate to help us help her 🥹

Come with us on our first kill list intake of 2024 🥺🩵 Today we saved five 8 week old baby Boxer X puppies from a rural pound in NSW. After being on transport for so long and suffering in their concrete cell for even longer they were all so happy to have a run around on some grass 🥰
The reality is, healthy, beautiful and deserving animals are euthanized every single day because pounds are full. Please help and do your part to reduce the companion animals overpopulation crisis we are in, and desex your cats and dogs, keep them safe and never abandon your family - they'd never abandon you😞
Help us help them.
If your home is missing a cute little companion we have many dogs and puppies currently looking for their forever home right now 🏡, send us a DM today. 🩵 Or view them via this link :

(You may notice there are 6 puppies in the pound photo, one was rehomed this morning by the pound - out of our control 🩵)
When our volunteer transporter was due to arrive to the vet clinic where Hero was being cared for to bring him back to Melbourne for treatment, we had a message from our pound contact with a video of a 3 month old puppy with a huge laceration in his neck that was draining pus from a huge abscess.
Little Terry was so fortunate, if he had been found 30 minutes later we would have already been and gone but this tiny little fighter arrived just in time for help
His muscles were wound tight with fear and pain but he was stoic as he was brought down to us to be assessed by our volunteer nurse before receiving vet treatment today.
Well, that was the plan, but when poor Terry arrived his injuries were worse than we thought, and he was sent straight to the nearest emergency centre for critical overnight care
His gums were white with no refill time which indicated he was extremely anaemic, he is emaciated and reacted strongly to being touched, anticipating his level of constant pain spiking at being touched
The vets were really concerned for him and kept him overnight on IV fluids, antibiotics, ran blood tests and administered pain relief so he can rest before he’s assessed for surgery at our usual vet along with Hero
He is so lucky that the stars aligned and that our volunteer transporters left on a moments notice for Hero
Two critical dogs are now receiving the care they desperately needed and their recovery can’t come soon enough
Weekend emergencies are costly but we couldn’t leave these guys to suffer - please consider sharing or donating toward their care if you can 💗
