Permaculture Vegi beds, Small and Slow Solutions.

Plan B delivering the goods to make these vegi beds come to life..

Cardboard base
Then layers...

1.Mushroom mulch/medium(spent grow bags/ myceliated sawdust)
-With some energy from wheat barley lime gypsum and some fruting bodies, makes a great mulch or carbon layer for compost.

2. Cow poo.

3. Horse poo

4.Salvaged straw "used bunny poo and p*e straw" from a bunny orphanage curtisy of nurseey Kalista.
Repeat...

Might fertilize with worm wee and as they break down add more laters or lightly turn once...
We may add some finished compost/ soil as we plant them out.

The owner of this plot wanted to build her beds with salvaged waste products rather than a manufactured soil mix..
conventional soil mix would cost 80$ each bed.. so a total of $640
Plus labor and delivery

On the Permaculture end including 6hrs labour give or take the 8 beds are costing $490 and a surplus of mattetials to build 3 hot compost bays..

It pays to know where to harvest and slavage post consumer mattetials tgat have lots of stored energy and nutrients and better to repourpose where possible.

This style of design is a mix between hot composting& no gid gardening.

Tullyvallin Farm located on; Wurrundjery Woi Wurrung
Country/Coldstream, Naarm/Victoria, have 250 Indigenous Re-veg plants arriving this week for some late season planting! (thank Goddess we have had a wet winter here in the Valley!)

Last week we planted 50 Acacias species: Acacia melanoxylon and Acacia implexa with the help of one of our First Volunteers.

We are seeking up to 3 Volunteers to help get these pants in by end of second week October 2021 to ensure the plants will get enough rain/water before the summer heat kicks in.

As for ongoing Farm work and help Tullyvallin will always accept ***Expressions of interest ongoing as Projects evolve etc.
Agricultural and Permaculture workers permit will be issued we have a bunch of other Argi/Perma projects on the go so this can become ongoing.

In 2022 we will have over 3,500 species to plant in a fenced of area/Tributary(getting cattle out of the dam and future riparian area)as a part of a Melbourne Water Stream Frontage Management Program (one of the last before they transition into new Project models).

plan B is starting to conjure up some ideas for planter boxes as a swap and go system for a local cafe..

These plants were purchased as a trial from a hydroponic grower yesterday.

It makes such a lovly becch/tabletop edible boquet..

Can you believe all this goodness was under $20.
Some to eat some to replant and keep the goodness growing.

planB.Indulgence has Stumbled across this gem of an organisation, I will going to the Mornington Peninsula Farm this Saturday and as much as possible for the next little while!

Getting out in Lockdown for a great cause supporting the growers who grow for those whom need it the most!

Food For change provide Working permits!
I will be getting my hands in the dirt picking veges and planting and whatever else is required!

So if you have always wanted to learn more about growing food , need to go ground and feel apart of a food security solution here is a great chance!

Stage 4 lockdown hit right in peak revegetation season, a time when the many thousands of plants we have grown for conservation and revegetation projects would be going out. Before and during progress photos of a 5 day old compost pile

This compost pile was constructed on Saturday 22nd Aug...
I couldn't resist and had to investigate how it was going ..
So I liturally hand pulled it apart and rebuilt it adding in more pea straw and shredded paper as I went

I did find lots of baby worms which indicates it's not too hot yet altgiugh
the thermophilic bacterias have started to warm it up inside ;) I'm aiming for a 21 day process to see this almost complete..
