Puppy socialisation playgroup followed by a French crêpes dinner: what could you ask more for your first outings with your pup?! 🐾

Join us this Wednesday 29th from 5:30 to 7:30pm for our first puppy socialisation dinner !!

Socialisation in the early stages of a pup’s life is crucial to become a confident dog. Our dinner offers a safe and controlled environment for your pup (up to 18 weeks), lots of fun and advices to guide you both through this critical period.

The dinner package is $45 and includes: a 40mn session of environmental enrichment in a small playgroup and Q/A about your pup with our certified dog trainer Marc, followed by a crêpes dinner for you and your pup* 🍽

Can’t make it on this date? New sessions and hours will be added very soon! Please register your interest and feel free to let us know what are the suitable hours for you and your pup.

THIS TAG COULD SAVE YOUR DOG ⚠️
We are happy to announce that, this month, three dogs have been reunited with their humans thanks to this tag!

When your dog is in our care they wear this tag for their safety. We recommend to let it on them so if the dog is found and we are called we can contact you, collect the dog and if necessary keep them in our daycare until you can pick them up. This is an additional safety since regular tags may be lost or you may not respond if called.
In two cases we encountered this month, the owners collected the dog after we called them, and in one case we collected the dog and kept them for the day. In the three cases we informed the owners their dog was missing.

A warm thank to the nice people who called us after finding the dogs and accepted to stay with them until we or their humans arrived 🤗

(Note that we register more calls on windy days, please secure your gates!).

MISTY’S BIRTHDAY PARTY 🎉🥳

Yesterday was a special day as we celebrated Misty’s 15th birthday! Queen of the bean bag, Mistress of the house, Misty is the spirit of Barkanine and all our guests know her.

For this special occasion she deserved the perfect cake: dog génoise and peanut butter mousse 🎂 made on Misty’s request by Marc, and even better when shared with some fur friends! 🍰🍰🍰

📣 HUMANS, WE HAVE A CHALLENGE FOR YOU! Let’s express your body language to your beloved doggy 🐾

Dog’s primary language is body language, while the voice is ancillary. We generally talk too much to our dogs and neglect what they tell us with their body or what we can express using their language. This way we pull them into our own comfort zone.

For 24 hours we propose you to enter your dog’s comfort zone and forget yours! The challenge is to stop talking to your dog for 24 hours: no name, no voice command, no word or voice sound, just your body! You will need different strategies to get their attention, communicate your emotions and ask them what you want. From their side, your dog will need to pay more attention to you and read your body.

Please share this experience and tell us how it went, how long you could stay without speaking and how did your dog react. We cannot wait to have your impressions!

WE GOT NEWS FROM BOBBY 🐕

For those who may have not followed Bobby’s adventure with us, Bobby, a 3 yo rescue Jack Russell, enrolled a few weeks ago in a socialisation program with Barkanine after showing signs of reactivity when around dogs.

Bobby is now able to enjoy walks and park sessions with other dogs, on or off-leash! No need to say that we are very proud of our intern 😁

If your dog shows any behavioral issue, do not delay in fixing it and ask us! We offer behavior and obedience training to help you live a better life with your fur baby 🐾

Dear furry and human friends,

We would like to introduce our new price policy on training:
- rescue dogs get a 15% discount on training during the first three months after being rescued
- puppies up to 4 months pay $50 per private obedience session instead of $60.

We understand that welcoming a rescue dog or a puppy in a family, while it brings a lot of joy and love, can also be challenging! That’s why we are here to help you and your furbaby settle in this new adventure!

This adds to our compassionate rate (discount to be discussed on a case-by-case basis) on services like walking, daycare, boarding or home visits, in circumstances where you cannot take care of your dog (medical reasons, emergency situations, life accidents). This is our way to support doggy families during hardship. Please ask for a case-by-case consideration!

UPDATE: Bobby successfully completed his 10 days socialisation program 🎓

Congratulations to our newly Barkanine graduate! Bobby really enjoyed staying with us, and even asked his parents the permission to stay for another week!

Bobby’s program was an example of the « a la carte » services we offer. If you have any request, just ask! 🐾

Yesterday Bobby had a very good session in the park with a selection of 3 very active dogs. He had the opportunity to run and satisfy his prey drive without any sign of reactivity ☺️

UPDATE: our intern Bobby is doing great so far! 🐕

In the past days Bobby has met 10 very different dogs under our supervision and did very well, both during in-house off-leash sessions and on-lead walks!

We are now mid-way on this socialisation program and we can’t wait to show you more of Bobby’s improvement in the coming days!

Meet our new intern Bobby! 🐕

Bobby is a 3 yo Jack Russell rescued from a shelter. He has now found the loving family he deserves but needs some socialisation due to his story, as he reacts heavily to other dogs when walked on the lead.
Bobby enrolled with Barkanine in a socialisation program and will be with us for 10 days. We will keep you updated of his progression!
