Hey everyone, I just wanted to jump on and get something off my chest.

Breeding ethically isn’t just about pretty colors or popular names it’s about health, responsibility, and honesty. I recently bought a rabbit from a well-known breeder, bred her with one of my favorite buck, and it’s been a disaster. She had severe teeth issues, which meant I had to cull her, and on top of that, she passed on a necrotic testicular disease to my buck. Now, his testicles have turned black, he can’t breed, and he has to be desexed.

This isn’t just bad luck—it’s avoidable with proper health checks and responsible breeding. If you’re buying rabbits, please do your research. Just because someone has cute rabbits or rare colors doesn’t mean they breed ethically. And if you’re breeding, make sure your lines are disease-free. It’s not just your rabbitry at risk—it’s everyone’s.

Let’s do better. Our rabbits deserve it.

Hey everyone, after a lot of thought, I’ve decided to downsize and take a break from breeding for now. I do plan to come back to it in the future!

In the meantime, I’ll be moving on a few of my rabbits, who will all be ready in April:

🌟 Important Update from Mini-Mochis 🌟

After much investigation, I’ve discovered that my Blue Vienna lines carry a genetic defect—a gap in the bottom teeth.. While this has been heartbreaking to uncover, it’s also a reminder of the good and bad that comes with line breeding or breeding with different buns —it can reveal both the strengths and the weaknesses within a line.

The good news is that despite this issue, bunnies are eating well and appear to be doing just fine in their daily lives. Their health and happiness remain my top priority!

As a result, I’ve made some tough decisions:
🐇 One of my best does will be sold to a pet home only.
🐇 Comet and Ocean will retire with me, living out their days in comfort and love.
🐇 Comet has two litter due soon, and I will be closely monitoring them for signs of gap teeth to see if the defect presents.

It’s been confirmed that Comet carries this defect, and I’ve reached out to owners who have purchased kits from his Blue Vienna lines. Together, we’ve agreed that if these rabbits are being bred, they should also be retired to pet homes only to ensure the issue doesn’t continue.

This has been a devastating realization for me, as it feels like all my hard work has been undone. But I’m taking this as an opportunity to learn and grow. I’ll be starting fresh with new Vienna lines here at Mini-Mochis, building a stronger foundation for the future.
