Coburg Aquarium Coburg Aquarium is the largest leading aquarium in Australia. Coburg Aquarium is a family business that has been in operation for over 30 years.

Starting locally in Coburg in the 1970s by the Long family, Coburg Aquarium has grown into Australia’s premier Aquarium store. While Coburg Aquarium, was purchased by the Kirby family in 2007, we have retained most of the staff, processes and customer service values that the Long family instilled into the business over many years.

Tank Mate Thursday!
With so many tetra's available, which one do you choose? We love the congo tetra, and if your looking for a variation of this classic tetra, check out the yellow tail congo tetra. Larger than most other tetra species, this fish is impressive in a shoal of 6 or more. Somewhat skittish, but highly active, it's the perfect tank mate for the black kuhli loach that will keep to itself on the bottom of the tank. Both species do well with soft and warm parameters. Provide plenty of plant cover to keep these two happy and healthy.

The glowlight tetra and leopard danio are excellent tank mates. While the leopard danio will tolerate cooler water temperatures, they will happily inhabit an aquarium in the warmer temperatures preferred by the glowlight tetra. A fantastic pair to complement a planted tank.

Tank Mate Thursday!
The costae black line tetra is a more subdued looking tetra, but their green hues will pop in a dimly lit aquarium with dark substrate. We love this species in a black water styled aquarium, heavily planted with lots of driftwood, perfect for this soft water loving tetra. The ideal tank mate is the humble corydoras catfish. The corydoras is a peaceful bottom dweller that wont intimidate the costae black line tetra and will do well with softer water parameters.

The lawnmower blenny, also known as the carpet blenny is a saltwater species of fish that, as you may of guess from the name, is an algae eating bottom dweller. They are a good species for beginner saltwater aquarists, as they are peaceful and do well with other peaceful marine species. Provide lots of live rock and opportunity for algae to grow to keep the lawnmower blenny satisfied. Good filtration and oxygenation is desirable.

Freshwater Species Review 🐟

The sparkling gourami is less commonly found in aquarium stores and is popular among aquarists. This small species of gourami only grows to approximately 4cm and has a unique brown based body with iridescent blue spots. They can be a little more sensitive than some other gourami varieties but are a rewarding & worthy fish to keep.
