Much of my career since was managing “The Ring”, a boutique art glass and jewellery gallery in Chapel Street, South Yarra, for my good friend Vivian Endean. Being immersed in an amazing array of uniquely styled jewellery and colourful hand blown glass was my inspiration to create my own work. I have been commissioned to design and produce many original pieces. My jewellery adorns Princess Mary of
Denmark and her wedding party and is seen in various Australian film and theatre productions. Fortunately that day lead to a new opportunity as I was commissioned to fabricate a damaged rose, this much loved rose belonged to a very special lady, Dianne Klanjscek. I told Dianne it would be ready in 3 months, as this gave me the time to learn a new skill in working with resin as a medium. This was an enjoyable and rewarding challenge and the rose was everything Dianne and I could have expected. This lead to the birth of So Sublime and a wonderful friendship with Dianne, who still wears her rose along with many others. Dianne continues to inspire me always with her amazing ideas, creativity and encouragement. Resin has become my favourite medium, this combined with sterling silver. The combination gives me the ability to mix shapes and objects with a kaleidoscope of colours and endless design. Most of my pieces are inspired by the 1920’s and 1930’s – the celluloid bakelite era. Flowers, butterflies, cats, cicadas and many more little creatures from this time. Versatility of use is a key element I like to incorporate in my designs, as my pieces can usually be worn as a brooch, neckpiece, hairpiece and perhaps even a belt buckle. All it needs is a little imagination by the wearer. SoSublime Designs are available through a number of boutiques and galleries. I also make to order offering a personal design service
