With consecutive high temperatures forecast in Victoria over the next few days, please be conscious of wildlife.

Just like us, native animals are vulnerable during hot weather and may experience heat stress.

Symptoms of heat stress in wildlife can vary between species. Common symptoms include panting, fanning of wings, and abnormal behaviours such as lethargy and disorientation. It’s also common for species to take risks in search of fresh water and shade – such as arboreal (tree dwelling) species coming to ground and nocturnal species active during the daytime.

If you see animals exhibiting these behaviours, please call our 24/7 Emergency Response Service on 03 8400 7300.

Please be aware of debris on the Hampton/Sandringham dog beach

We’re encouraging visitors to Sandringham Harbour (Hampton dog beach) to be aware of sea debris on the beach, including sharp seashells and glass, particularly at low tide 🐚

The materials are washing up after dredging works by Parks Victoria for the new Hampton pier.

Our contractors are inspecting and cleaning the beach daily in addition to regular beach cleaning/grooming.

The debris is expected to continue to wash up over coming months while works continue.

This area of the foreshore is managed by Parks Victoria and we will continue to monitor and raise any concerns regarding the debris with them.

It's going to be an awfully hot 42° on Monday, the public holiday.

Make sure you get any activities with the dogs done nice and early so that they are protected from the heat 🥵

Clinic will be back open on Tuesday from 8am.

Senior pup checks are so important.

We love our seniors at SVH, as they've had a life full of loving us, and in return, we can make sure that we support them properly in their older years.

Though, she wistfully looks upon the outside world from the comfort of the waiting room, wondering.
Why am I here?
Why can't I be out there?
Who is that poodle walking past?
Is that Coco from down the road?
Why don't they give me some treats already?

Aaahhh... Sasha was indeed patient and the BEST patient, as she kept those intrusive thoughts to herself and went on to become fully vaccinated for another year ❤️
