Not even Daniel Andrews could justify this, could he?

Labor's announcement for sole traders has many issues. None more than this:

Mobile Dog Groomers were NOT included as part of the Pet Groomers ability to re-open on 28 September, and that was cruel enough. Now Daniel Andrews has denied Mobile Groomers getting access to the same grant groomers leasing a shop will get.

This is not fair, Premier you can't deny them the ability to trade and then deny them the support they deserve.

Still waiting for mobile groomers to get the green light to operate ...

Very pleased that the government has moved on this.

Grooming is an animal welfare issue and that is now recognised under our restrictions.

A great example of how working proactively with the government can achieve good outcomes.

As many of you will know, I have supported the government in making difficult but important evidence-based decisions, formulated on expert medical advice.

If a few more weeks in stage 4 is necessary to stop the spread of coronavirus - then that's what needs to be done.

Just because I support the government’s plan in principle, doesn’t mean there aren’t areas that need tweaking, or where I disagree in detail.

When these restrictions first came into place, I wrote to the government with concern that dog grooming was deemed non-essential.

Now that the government has extended restrictions, I have contacted them again today to say dog grooming must be reclassified for welfare. This new length of time will be far too long for many animals.

For many breeds of dogs, and even cats, grooming is vital for animal welfare reasons.

Dogs that go without regular grooming can end up with painful matting, skin irritation and overgrown nails, making it difficult to walk.

Just like you can leave your home to go to the vet – you should be able to leave your home to go to the groomer – no matter where in Victoria you live.

With more Victorians taking on a companion animal than ever before, it is vital that the government ensures they can safely get the care they deserve.

The weather has been cold and wet.. But are your dogs comfortable and have the knots been brushed out?.. Two common signs of this are when your dog rubs on the floor or bites their paws. Maybe they are saying they need a groom??,..
