🐾💕 What a year 2025 has been! 💕🐾
Like every year, 2025 has brought us both ups and downs — with the downs at times taking hold, making the pain and burden very real. Every day we fight to save and protect as many lives as we can, while continuing to spread the message of desexing, responsible pet ownership, and adoption.
Some days it feels like we are slowly getting through and making progress, and other days hope dwindles as it feels like the message just isn’t sinking in.
Being run by 100% volunteers means we are constantly juggling our personal lives alongside the rescue world. Most people appreciate and respect what we do. Others expect us to solve their problems, drop everything, and instead choose to comment, criticise, and blame.
We do what we do out of the kindness of our hearts because we believe in making positive change in this world and actively stepping up. Sometimes we are forced to make difficult or unfavourable decisions, but they are always made with careful thought and with the animals’ best interests at heart. At the end of the day, this job does not come with a manual.
We would like to sincerely thank our partners Hallam Veterinary Clinic, Our Vet Pakenham, and Pet O Pakenham for standing by our side and working with us to provide the very best for the animals that come into our care.
To those who have adopted from us — please give our babies a hug and a kiss from us. Thank you for choosing them to be part of your family, and for providing them with love, safety, and warmth forever.
As the year comes to a close, we would like to share our figures with you. In 2025, 354 lives were adopted — 77 cats, 212 kittens, and 65 puppies. This number is truly astronomical. Knowing that all these lives are safe because we cared enough to act and fight is incredibly humbling.
To the FurKids team, volunteers past and present — thank you, truly, for giving so selflessly to our furkids, our babies. Thank you for ensuring their lives matter and are seen.
Thank you 2025 for what you have brought us, thank you for helping us save the lives that we could and thank you for holding our hands as we said goodbye to the ones we couldn’t.
What a year it has been!! Thank you, stay safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR 🥳
