🔥🐾 Heat Stress Awareness: Keep Your Pets Safe This Summer! 🐾🔥

Summer is here, and while we enjoy the sunshine, it’s important to remember that cats and dogs are more vulnerable to heat stress than we are. 🌞

Signs of heat stress in pets include:

- Excessive panting or drooling
- Lethargy or weakness
- Vomiting or diarrhoea
- Bright red gums or tongue
- Difficulty breathing

🚨 Heat stress is an emergency. If you notice these signs, seek veterinary care immediately.

💡 Tips to prevent heat stress:

- Always provide fresh water and shade.
- Avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day.
- Never leave pets in parked cars, even for a few minutes.
- Consider cooling mats or damp towels for your pets to lie on.

Let’s keep our furry friends safe and comfortable this summer!

If you’re ever worried, Casey Pet Emergency is here to help. 🐶🐱💙

🐾 Meet Prada, our adorable 10-week-old German Shepherd cross who visited us at Casey Pet Emergency after getting into just a bit too much food! 💖

This little foodie ended up with a case of food bloat, so she spent the night with us under close watch.
We're happy to report that she's feeling much better now and back to her playful self! 🐶

What is Food Bloat? 🥘
When dogs eat too much or too quickly, their stomach can become excessively stretched, leading to discomfort and, in severe cases, serious health risks.

This condition, known as food bloat, can make it difficult for their stomach to function normally and may cause pressure on other organs.
Common signs include a distended belly, restlessness, drooling, retching and excessive panting.

If you think your pet may be experiencing food bloat, reach out to us at Casey Pet Emergency.

Early treatment, like Prada received, helps ensure a speedy and safe recovery! 🩺

🐾 DIY Pupsicle Recipe for Your Precious Pup! 🍦🐶

Looking for a fun, easy way to keep your dog hydrated and entertained in the heat?

Try making a pupsicle!

This cool treat not only helps your dog stay hydrated but also keeps them occupied as they lick away the ice. Plus, it’s super simple to make!

Here’s how to make your very own pupsicle:

✨ What you’ll need:
- A deep container (plastic tub, silicone mould, muffin tin, or ice cube tray)
- Doggy biscuits or your dog’s favorite treats (apple slices, shredded chicken—but no cooked bones!)
- Water or pre-made broth

Instructions:
- Find your mould of choice—anything from an old plastic container to an ice cube tray works!
- Place the treat at the bottom of the mould. You can use doggy biscuits, fruit slices, or even shredded chicken.
- Fill the container with water or broth, leaving a little space at the top.
- Freeze overnight or until completely frozen.
- When it’s ready, run warm water over the outside of the mould to loosen it, and pop the pupsicle out.

And there you have it—a refreshing, homemade treat your dog will love! 🧊🐕
