** Help! Missing equipment. Have you seen our Greystone Arena Rake?**

Back in 2015, our club fundraised $4000 and purchased this specialised arena rake. It turned out to be unsuitable for our needs and had been stored in a locked shed. Recently we decided to donate it to Macclesfield Pony Club in the wake of the fire that destroyed their clubrooms.

But on Saturday we discovered the rake is not in the shed, it has been taken.

If you know anything about this please get in touch. This is a valuable piece of equipment that required many, many hours of volunteer hours to purchase.

The police have been notified but we hold hope that someone has borrowed it and simply forgotten to return it. The rake looks very much like the one in this picture below. Please call Cathy Ronalds on 0407574369 or Stuart Goggin on 0410541534 with any information.

Thanks Andrea Smith Saddle Fitter for spending the day at our grounds yesterday. Eight saddles fitted, very good effort! Woody is fascinated to see how Andrea inserts new girth points to his saddle. River gets a new girth. Hazel got her saddle adjusted and gets a new girth. How did Ruska, Goldie and Ted go Bek, Mel and Michelle?

Correct saddle fit is important, it ensures weight is evenly displaced across our horse’s back, the saddle isn’t impacting shoulder movement, and the saddle stays in place. This can avoid discomfort or serious muscular skeletal issues in our horses.

Look forward to doing this again next year, hopefully with a horse dentist as well.

A ripper day for a ripper rally. We were pleased to host Macclesfield Pony Club for our rally this month. Our club made a donation to the value of $3000 to Macclesfield Pony Club Inc to support the rebuild of their clubrooms. We couldn't have done with this without the fundraising efforts and careful management of funds of this current committee and previous committees.

Our September rally coincides with Fathers Day. And we acknowledge Dads are often the supporters in horse families who might not have chosen a horse life for themselves. We appreciate all your efforts to support our kids in their big life with horses. We celebrated our Dads with Greek roast lamb at lunch - thanks to Diamond Papazoglou for treating us with that. And we had a fun horse race: kids and Dads paired as teams and ran the gauntlet of Arena 3 with play horses and real horses in hand. Well done Adam, Charli, Ruska and hobby horse on a stellar win!

We also enjoyed performing musical flat in a team of 8 and show jumping with Liana Atkinson plus mounted games with Stuart Goggin and Alison Goggin.

Our club really appreciates the support of Bendigo Bank Community Bank Monbulk & District. So much so that I am sharing this embarrassing photo of myself (me, Cathy, not you, Jenni Nash!).

This bank invests bucketloads into our local community here. Those community tokens people pop into our box in the Monbulk branch really add up and provide us with a great monetary contribution annually.

These contributions help keep our small club running for all the kids whose world is opened up because of pony club and their pony.

It was a day of musical flat, poles and games at yesterday's August rally. Musical dressage to 'akuna matata' blaring from Erica's car was really great fun. Those of us running kids around on lead line were a little worn out by the end! One of our parents Stuart Goggin is completing accreditation as a games instructor so he treated us to a bonus Mounted Games session at the end of our rally.

What an excellent rally we had last Sunday. Riders navigated multiple challenges with
‘lances’ and ‘swords’ on the medieval course to crown the prince at the end.

And adults and kids moaned and groaned their way through a rider-designed Pilates class. We might have had sore muscles the next day but we certainly felt the difference for targeting the core muscles we need for good balance in the saddle.

Riders at all levels enjoyed the freshman’s course, using up a few old competition ribbons in the cupboard in the process!

Our canteen manager, Lisa K Norris, surprised three of our members with a birthday cake 🥰

And the day before rally some of our riders enjoyed a jumping lesson with Liana Atkinson. It was a fantastic weekend at the grounds, so much so we don’t have many photos to show for it, everyone was engrossed.

Thank you again Community Bank Monbulk & District for your generous donation to our club tonight at the community awards night. The icing on the cake was Jenni Nash’s (Bendigo Bank) special donation for our BBQ - these tools have your name on them for when you flip sausages at our next competition!

Tonight the bank donated over $127,000 to local community groups in Monbulk, incredible.

Our final rally of the year was great fun. We found a fun way to repurpose old competition sashes and everyone came away with plenty of them yesterday. Though, personally, I think winning a blue sash for the Fattest Pony wasn't our proudest moment of the day.

Congratulations to all our award winners yesterday. Our club has grown and flourished this year with lots of new members. We look forward to 2023 - the forming of closer friendships, learning new skills, trusting our horses more and supporting each other along the way.

Jenny Gold - thank you for your enthusiasm and time in preparing for our Fun Ring. There were prizes for Best Trick, Ba****ck Riding, Longest Tail, Fattest Pony and many more.

It was fantastic to see so many riders at our grounds last Sunday for our Dressage PC and Open Competition (and our first competition post-pandemic). Thanks a million to our longest serving member Yolanda Slykerman who organised and coordinated the competition for our club - it went off so smoothly, lots of beautiful sashes went off to new homes and gave riders a good day out at our beautiful grounds (despite a bit of rain!).

Thanks to all the MPC club members who worked very hard all weekend to make it go without a hitch. The best bit was watching many of our own club riders compete in their first ever competition and support one another through each test.

Thank you Bendigo Bank Monbulk for sending THREE staff out on their Sunday to support us in the canteen. We couldn't have run such a great canteen without that support. Thanks to Lisa K Norris our canteen manager for going above and beyond - what an awesome range of food we had!

And thank you Storehouse Roastery for the delicious coffee beans that kept all the rider's supporters going throughout the day. It was a nice touch to have espresso coffee! We'll have to do that again.

Finally, I'd like to express my thanks to all the club members who showed our visitors what a friendly and vibrant club Monbulk Pony Club is. It made us committee members feel really proud.

We can't wait to run our next competition!

A few photos of the action and behind the scenes at yesterday's November rally. The day was packed, with coaching on poles and grid by Yolanda; flat work (and trail riding) with Erica and groundwork skills and theory with Jill in preparation for E and D certificates. In our adult riders session we enjoyed learning some horsemanship and groundwork skills with Jill.

At our rally last Sunday we ran through our dressage tests in preparation for our competition on November 20th. One of the highlights was watching Erica Hosking run through a Grade 1 test on Joey. Gordan, Nemo and Splash all enjoyed a bit of attention while we watched on from the sidelines.

Excited to see work commence on maintenance of all 4 of our Sand Arena's! thanks to Chris Pink from Yarra Valley EarthWorks P/L, for undertaking the works, that will see all of the arena's reprofiled and renovated, just in time for our November competition. Our club did a great job working hard to fund raise the money to fund the renovations!

Our DC, Alison Goggin, is also a hoof trimmer. Both adults and kids learned something about horse hoof physiology and hoof care from her at our last rally. It was fascinating to see the cross section of a hoof. Hoof care is a fundamental component of your horse's health. It has been a challenging season for many horses and ponies with so much wet weather this year. Thanks Alison for sharing your expertise with us!
