SERENDIPITY DOG BEDS
Australian Owned and Locally Made Dog Beds They had a dog with hip dysplasia for whom they bought a hammock bed with a hessian cover.
Permanently closed.
Serendipity Dog Beds and Covers was started accidentally back in 1997 by Trish and Chris Bellerby. However, once it sagged she had trouble getting out. After a visit to the local remnant shop, Trish replaced the cover with one made from industrial gaberdine. Five years later due to illness and needing to be at home near a bed it was decided to try to market the cover, giving Trish something to do.
Once again a “lucky” accident.
18 years later with hearing that Serendipity was up for sale and knowing the reputation and quality of their beds. I decided to take a chance and purchase the company as something for me to do from home. I look forward to keeping Serendipity Dog Beds going with their outstanding reputation and quality. It is with great sadness that I write this post. The last 8.5 years have been a lot of fun. Due to changes in my employment, I have made the decision (after many long hours of looking for different solutions) to close Serendipity.
Thank you so very much for your support over the years.
Jean Bailey.

Serendipity Dog Beds is FOR SALE.
If you like spoiling your pets and love sewing, this may be the business for you.
Serendipity Dog Beds was established in 1997 and I bought the company in 2015. Due to a change in personal circumstances I am no longer able to give my full attention and time required to this business.
As I mentioned you would need a love of sewing, sewing is the main portion of this business. All the hammock bed covers and cushion covers we make are hand-made by us. These are not outsourced, they are manufactured by me.
Patterns, suppliers, cutting materials, industrial sewing machines (x3). Customer database, social media. Are all included with this sale.
Should you wish, there is another part to this business, which is our hammock frames. This is not a necessary part of the business but is an added bonus . All equipment and instruction on how to make them would be included in the sale.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss further.

Personal Announcement
Just before Christmas an exciting opportunity presented itself to me job wise.
When I bought Serendipity Dog Beds over 7 years ago, I was looking for work I could do at home so I could be around for my son while he was little. Serendipity Dog Beds was perfect for me. Now that my son is older and much more independent (you know the type, "teenage cave dweller"), I didn't hesitate at saying yes to this new full time job opportunity.
What does this mean for Serendipity Dog Beds you ask. This means due to full time work hours I will no longer be able to continue running Serendipity in the capacity I have done in the past or as I had intended and I am looking to sell Serendipity Dog Beds and Covers.
PLEASE NOTE - This is NOT, I repeat, This is NOT a Business Closure Announcement. It's more a Business Sale Post.
This decision is not something I have made lightly. I have enjoyed the last 7 years hearing from satisfied long term and new customers. I've made many friends over these 7 years thanks to this business. It's been an amazing journey and I thank everyone for their ongoing support and recommendations.
Due to my limited availability - I will only be processing orders from existing customers and on a limited product list. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Anyone interested in purchasing the business, please DM me to discuss privately.
Wishing everyone a joyous and happy Holiday Season.
Please note our holiday closing dates
We close on Wednesday, 21 December, and we will reopen on Monday, 16 January.
I will monitor my emails and phone during that time but I will not be processing any orders until the 16th.

We at Serendipity have started helping with Fostering and Rescue. We've had a couple pups stay with us so far.
Sox is still looking for a home. He stayed with us for a week while his carer went on a short holiday.
Sox is just gorgeous. He likes sleeping on his back, playing with stuffed toys, and cuddles. While with us, he was learning to sit and wait before entering at the door. He loves zoomies in the yard.
If you think you could offer this cutie a home. Please contact Forever Friends Animal Rescue.
Besides bullmastiffs, bulldogs are another of my favourite.
Many rescues are struggling at the moment. If you can help in any way, it would be much appreciated.
SADIE is still critical but stable. She is a fighter and everything possible is being done to get her better ASAP
For those of you who missed our late night post ... Sadie had airway surgery yesterday and unfortunately have suffered complications. Upper airway swelling + aspiration pneumonia. Sadie had to re-intubated last night and a tracheotomy put in. She is being cared for in VRH ICU (Dandenong).
Sadie has had a hard life and is a total fighter! She will get through this …… please help us help Sadie fight for her life by making a donation to help with the cost of her ICU stay. Please keep a beer this evening or a coffee over the weekend and make a donation instead. If all our supporters could donate just $10 it would come to a massive total.
A direct bank deposit is the best way to donate as no fees are charged and every dollar goes direct to MBRC.
► WESTPAC BSB: 032-051 ACC: 806473
► PayPal available at minisbulldogrescue.com/donate
MBRC is a registered charity operating 100% not-for-profit and we are also able to provide you with a donation receipt for any donations $2+.
Nyx is now available for adoption (so are her sisters, Maddie and Beets).
Victoria only.
Please read through her profile before applying.

Miss Nyx is currently being fostered by us via Forever Friends Animal Rescue and will be looking for her forever home soon.

Nyx likes being near her humans. Yesterday she dragged her blanket to her mat and curled up to sleep next to the desk in the study.

An old but very good article.
Just need to get something off my chest....
I love dogs, I do, and I'm lucky enough to have made a career out of working with dogs. The recent increase in dog numbers means there are more people than ever enjoying the company of dogs, but also more dogs than ever are out and about in public places. Some of the behaviour I am witnessing by some dog owners is driving me more than a little crazy.
PLEASE PUT YOUR DOG ON A LEAD. Why has this become so difficult?
This includes cafes, walking on the footpath and at parks that are not designated off-leash. It is for your dog's safety, as well as the safety of other dogs and people. It has become impossible for me to walk around my local area without meeting at least 3 off-leash dogs each time, and cafes seem to attract off-leash dogs.
I don't understand it - your dog may be friendly, but how do you know how the dog they run up to will react? And why is it OK for your dog to be annoying to others? I've witnessed some dangerous things with fights, knocked-down tables, terrified kids and boiling coffee going all directions.
YOUR DOG DOESN'T HAVE TO “SAY HELLO" What if the other dog (or owner) doesn't want to "say hello" back?
"My dog just wants to say hello" is usually the excuse people give when their dog has no recall, but why would you let your dog jump in the face of a dog on a lead that you don't know? It can go pear-shaped VERY quickly, and I have witnessed some dreadful dog fights as a result of this. Please work on your recall or don't let them off the lead. I just want to walk Chilli in peace.
Finally, about the current POODEMIC - yes, dog poo is unpleasant, but you need to pick it up!
If your dog does a poo on a footpath at night, it might be a shock to learn that you still need to pick it up, even if there were no witnesses! I know it's hard to get your head around, but I'm getting sick of giant piles of poo on the footpath waiting in the morning!
Rant over, thanks for listening….. and of course, I know that most people do the right thing! xx

Say hello to Miss Nyx.
Nyx is an 8 week old Cane Corso puppy that we are currently fostering here at Serendipity.
She is full of beans and Arya adores her.
I'll post more information about her and the Rescue she came from a bit later.

I've been a follower of Mini's Bulldog Rescue for quite some time.
This rescue does so much for these dogs. If you are able to assist in any way it will help them assist these gorgeous dogs.
Mini's Bulldog Rescue Club Incorporated is a small breed specific charity run by just two volunteers operating on the east coast of Australia. We are at breaking point. The harsh reality is that despite support from so many, we just can't keep on top of the funds needed to help the bulldogs in our c...

Sound advice. Especially in regards to dog parks.

It's only faint but it's a positive test. Covid has hit the Serendipity family.
I won't be doing any sewing this week as I do my best to stay warm and isolated.

Looking for someone to help you with your dog.
Speak to Heidi. I've heard nothing but good reviews about her from a couple clients and have seen the results of her training first hand.
We at Serendipity highly recommend Dogmanship Training

Miss Arya did some modelling today for Doggy Dungarees.
These dungarees are great for those early morning or evening dewy walks, muddy rainy day walks, they help protect the coat from seed burrs and give added protection if your dogs have grass or contact allergies.

How cute is this?
I bought the vinyl for this project 18 months ago. I went looking everywhere for a simple white ceramic biscuit jar and couldn't find one. I found this jar at the local op shop a couple of weeks ago, and I finally completed my project.

This heat, while not our usual really hot 40 degree days, it is still enough to make most of us melt. I ask that you please be patient as my workshop does not have air conditioning so temperatures have been a bit unbearable during the day. I will endeavour to get your orders out as quickly as possible.
In this heat, please look out for our four legged friends. Ensure they have plenty of water, some place cool and shady to rest if outside or better still under the aircon indoors.

Hi everyone,
I'm happy to announce that power has returned and mum is busy getting orders finished for mailing this week.
Be the first to know and let us send you an email when Serendipity Dog Beds & Covers posts news and promotions. Your email address will not be used for any other purpose, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Serendipity Dog Beds and Covers started in 1997 thanks to the needs of a very special dog named Tara, who suffered from hip dysplasia. Her owner hated watching her struggle in and out of her hessian covered hammock bed as it sank and gave way over time. With this in mind the Serendipity Hammock covers were created offering support and comfort to Tara and many other dogs over the years.
Serendipity Dog Beds and Covers are well known for their quality, longevity and ease of care with their products. We still have customers coming up and raving about how their frames have lasted 15 years and they are only just now wanting a new cover to replace their original one.
2018 sees us expanding out to cover not only dog related products but also cats and other furry critters that love the comforts of life. We look forward to continuing to bring you our wonderful products.
This company is proudly Australian owned and our products are Australian made.
Jean Bailey – Owner.
**and a BIG thank you to Miss Maisy for modeling our small hammock bed for us.
