'Harper and I met when she was just 8 weeks old. Since then, she has been training to be an assistance dog to help me with disability and neurodivergence in every-day life. One of my favourite stories to tell about Harper is when we went to see Laufey together live in concert! We even wore matching outfits. Harper was so good the entire time, and we had so much fun. '

🌼MEET FINN🌼

LOVES: Sleeping and mischief making

We adopted Finn in 2021, a week after the last lockdown restrictions were lifted. He was a light at the end of the very long tunnel that was 2020-2021. Our only other experience with owning cats was our elderly tabby, who was 15 at the time and not all that active in her prime. The differences in their personality were stark; all the things people say about ginger cats being insane are not only absolutely true, but also apply to their bicolour brothers!

Finn devotes 90% of his time to sleeping (normally somewhere on my bed where he takes up the most real estate), but that spare 10% is pure concentrated mischief. Despite his fair collection of toys readily available, he prefers plastic wrappers and tin foil, the computer mouse, the dog, flowers and other houseplants, and anything that moves under a blanket.

I just started a new Facebook group called Pixels & Paws: Mastering Studio Pet Photography, and I’d love for you to join!
It’s a space for all of us who love creating stunning pet portraits in the studio—whether you’re just getting started or already rocking those pro-level shots. 🐕📸

I decided to create this group specifically for those interested in studio pet photography. Although there are a lot of pet photography communities on Facebook most of them are directed towards natural light and outdoor photography so I am hoping we can fill a little hole here.

We’ll be sharing tips, swapping ideas, and cheering each other on. Plus, I’ll post some fun challenges and behind-the-scenes stuff to keep us inspired.

Today, I received the heartbreaking news that a very special client of mine, Duke, passed away last night. Duke was a gentle giant—a Great Dane who first came to visit me back in 2018 as a sweet, gangly puppy. He was a little shy during his shoot, but once he warmed up, his goofy personality shone through.

One particular image from that session struck a chord with me, and inspired me to turn it into "It’s a Catastrophe" —a portrait that not only captured Duke’s wacky expression but also marked a turning point in my career. That piece became my first major award winner, earning me titles like 2018 Australian Emerging Photographer of the Year and 2019 WPPI Creative Portrait of the Year. It’s been proudly displayed in my hallway ever since, a constant reminder of the joy and inspiration Duke brought to my work.

Earlier this year, as I was preparing my folio for an art competition, I decided to unarchive Duke’s portrait and pair it with three newer pieces. On Tuesday, I learned that Duke had done it again—his image helped me claim first place in the Animal Stories Class and the title of 2024 International Visionography Awards Composite Photographer of the Year.

This morning, when I heard from his Mum that he had passed, it was impossible not to reflect on how much this incredible dog has shaped my journey. Duke wasn’t just a client; he was a muse and a source of inspiration, and his legacy continues to touch hearts and entertain others, including me.

Today, my thoughts are with Duke’s family. Tony and I are holding them in our hearts, knowing that the images we created together are bringing them comfort during this difficult time. Thank you, Duke, for the laughter, the inspiration, and that one final hurrah. You’ll always hold a special place in my heart and my work. 💔

Little Muffin came to visit me in 2019. Yes, FIVE years ago. She was actually a winner of a giveaway we ran at the time for a spot in our 2020 calendar. Well, due to life/Covid etc her parents never did make it in to see her beautiful images. Fast forward to a month or so ago and I get an email asking if it was at all possible that I might have her images still. Unfortunately, little Muffin had passed away unexpectedly and her humans would love to come and see the images.

Luckily, my laziness in clearing out my hard drives had paid off and I was able to pull them out of the archives and now they have some beautiful artwork to remember her by.

Muffin was quite a handful at her shoot in the most enthusiastic way and the images were full of wonderful surprises!. RIP little Muffin. You will be missed. x

Bailey came to visit me a few years ago and struck a pose and we created this massive 50X40 inch canvas which now hangs proudly in his people's home. You can see it was bigger than me!

He recently came back and the tribe has grown! This time Cookie and Rosie joined him and we have created a new family portrait which is currently being printed at the same size.
