‼️Thankyou HASS for a great discussion of Adoption Conversion Rates ‼️I regularly hear from Australian shelters/ rescue all kinds of excuses for why we can’t place animals in permanent homes. the data we have from the US is CRYSTAL CLEAR that it is the organisational behaviour creating these significant bottlenecks and not an issue with the adopters. There are so many free or low-cost ways organisations can boost their adoption rates.

Parrots are prey species. In the wild, they must remain alert to evaluate for predators (a task shared amongst flockmates). In captivity, it is natural for parrots to be suspicious and often fearful of changes including new objects, people, or situations. Providing a safe area with more privacy and introducing new items slowly can help parrots acclimate to changes in the environment.
