The importance of Assessments

We recently had the pleasure of meeting a few new faces and the importance of our assessments was really reiterated. ⏳Our assessments run for roughly two hours where we get a feel for the dog, their current state, their routine and habits, the owners, their knowledge and education, their previous experiences. 🐕In one of these cases we were called our for muzzle training, but most people don't want to muzzle train for no reason (unless you're a dog trainer that wants to set your dog up for a life of confidence, which we highly recommend) 🔍 So with our assessment we dug deeper and discovered that the dog is dog selective and that they had a previous trainer in another country they lived. We discussed their previous training and realised that our training was very aligned and the dog did have great prior learning; this changed our training plan and meant we didn't have to start from scratch, we just had to unlock that memory 🔓 🐾 We don't use a 'one size fits all' approach. We train each dog like individuals, because they are. As well as the dogs being individual, the owners also have personal preferences that we need to discuss and navigate a training plan for. That's why running assessments are so important !
