Winter is upon us and not only is it freezing, it also makes for the perfect environment for infections such as seedy toe and thrush ❄️🦠

Being an anaerobic bacteria, it thrives without oxygen. So the best remedy is to resect out the affected area and then treat with a coppersulphate based solution ⚒️

Make and fit bar shoe for a poor chap that had decided to remove his heel quarter in a fence. Handmade straightbar was added to stabilise his hoof capsule while he recovers ⚒️🔥

New dressage pony from today. Had slightly pulled forward front feet, but setting him up with a toe clip again definitely helped to contain them a bit 🔥⚒️

New horse on the books from last week. Had a large amount of separation in both quarters, predominantly in the medial aspect.

Over the next few shoeings, we'll gradually try to improve hoof shape through proper toe and quarter placement in both our trim and shoe fit. Which will in turn, help to establish increased vertical depth and overall soundness ⚒

Barefoot pony with overly thin soles coming in this morning for some front shoes with comfortmix pour in pads and formahoof behind. We will gradually work transition him back to conventional shoeing as he develops more depth 🔥⚒

When you don't have any foot to work with, sometimes we need to make it. This is a 2 inch hoof cast, bonded with vettec adhere.

Allowing us to safely apply a shoe, and allow the foot to recover from the damage it has sustained 👌🏻⚒
