The Morelia viridis, commonly known as the Green Tree Python, is a highly regarded snake among reptile enthusiasts. The Morelia viridis has an interesting feature: juvenile snakes are born yellow or red, but as they grow into adulthood, their coloration gradually changes to become permanently green. This phenomenon is referred to as ontogenic change.

The species is native to New Guinea, some islands in Indonesia, and the Cape York Peninsula in Australia 🇦🇺
