Capanash Standard Poodles Exhibitor and Breeder of black/blue/white/cream standard poodles in conformation and obedience. Melbourne, Australia.

I have owned Standard poodles since 2000 and participated in my first confomation show in 2002. In that time, I have handled 8 Standards and 1 Miniature to their Champion titles. Of these, three were my own prefix, one going on to his Grand Champion title. Capanash poodles also compete successfully in obedience (mostly with Marlene handling).I have been involved with Poodle Club Of Victoria commit

tee (Vice president, committee, puppy officer, webmaster, point score secretary). During the week, I am a secondary Science/Maths teacher. Having a Bachelor of Science degree has re-enforced the need for health testing when breeding, with health and good temperament being of the utmost importance.We believe in letting poodles be dogs so none of ours are kenneled and all sleep in the house. They are also allowed to run and play together (yes even the show dogs!). We have an 85 acre property that the poodles have a great time exploring.

After 3 trials, Miss Stella has gained the 3 qualifying scores for her Novice Sprintdog title!!! She will soon be known as.. Ch Capanash Stars Dark Desire RA N.SPRD
Her scores were 36, 38, 38- so pretty fast.
She just loves the whole thing! She even loved galloping in the rain and wind, unlike her owner, Marlene Sharpe.

Today Stella and Hugh tried out a new dog sport, Sprintdog! This involves a timed 100m sprint with an average gained between two runs. It was fabulous to see so many different breeds (including 3 STDs and 1 mini) competing together and having so much fun. We loved seeing the dogs running flat out- especially a poodle full show coat. Hugh and Stella had clear first runs but in the second run, Hugh was distracted by a previous dog’s p*e so was disqualified. Stella’s second run was faster as she decided she loved chasing the lure and was crying and barking to start.
Stella ended up with her first pass and 36 points (100 is a novice title).

Slight lapse in sanity entering both girls in Rally Advanced when they are so competitive for my attention. Very windy, cold afternoon trialling at KCC Park, but we came away with a pass each. Vera didn't want anything to do with the jump but scraped through with a score of 80pts and Stella was my star with 93pts and final pass for her RA title. Clever poodles.

Busy few days for Stella, Conformation shows on Thursday & Friday , a nice 10 pt BOB put her over the halfway mark to her Grand.Then Rally trials Sunday at the Victorian State trials showing how versatile she is with 2 qualifying scores towards her Rally Advanced title. One exhausted poodle who earned her Roo mince for dinner. Both handler & poodle will all sleep well tonight.

Fun day at our Obedience club today, both girls had fun. Stella did Rally Advanced, placing 3rd with her usual enthusiasm. Vera did Green 1 class which is equivalent to CCD and despite not being co operative with Stand for exam, placed 2nd.

Capanash poodles also compete successfully in obedience (mostly with Marlene handling). Capanash Poodles are very proud of Dual Ch(T) Capanash Dark Dawn Arising (Wynton) co-owned and handled by Denis Cody.
