Exhibitor and Breeder of black/blue/white/cream standard poodles in conformation and obedience. Melbourne, Australia.

I have owned Standard poodles since 2000 and participated in my first confomation show in 2002. In that time, I have handled 8 Standards and 1 Miniature to their Champion titles. Of these, three were my own prefix, one going on to his Grand Champion title. Capanash poodles also compete successfully in obedience (mostly with Marlene handling).I have been involved with Poodle Club Of Victoria commit

tee (Vice president, committee, puppy officer, webmaster, point score secretary). During the week, I am a secondary Science/Maths teacher. Having a Bachelor of Science degree has re-enforced the need for health testing when breeding, with health and good temperament being of the utmost importance.We believe in letting poodles be dogs so none of ours are kenneled and all sleep in the house. They are also allowed to run and play together (yes even the show dogs!). We have an 85 acre property that the poodles have a great time exploring.

Fun day at our Obedience club today, both girls had fun. Stella did Rally Advanced, placing 3rd with her usual enthusiasm. Vera did Green 1 class which is equivalent to CCD and despite not being co operative with Stand for exam, placed 2nd.

Here she is catching up on her beauty sleep as the shows were very boring when she wasn’t bouncing around.

Happy Easter to all our followers! The poodles were surprisingly well behaved for their bunny ear photos.

Another National wrapped up. It is great to be part of an event where so many of the Australian poodle community come together. Congratulations to all the winners.
Jarvis was a good boy and won his class and won Best opposite Intermediate of breed.
We were devasted that Stella wasn’t able to shine in the ring. The morning of the show, she fell into a hole in and seemed fine afterwards. When it came time to go in the ring she slipped on the floor and either her leg was sore or she lost her confidence on the slippery concrete. We gave her a chance to show then asked the judge to withdrawn her but he said no as he really liked her and wanted to give her a time to get better. She didn’t, so was eventuslly withdrawn. She is find now. I have added two photos of her at the Royal to show her looking great (thank you Jen!).

On Sunday, Stella and Vera had their first time out in Rally Advanced. It was very warm and they have had a big trip away from home. Stella was two points off a pass. Vera was very exuberant and lacked focus but had fun. Unfortunately in NSW they don’t award class placing unless dogs receive a qualifying score, so no ribbons or prizes :(

Jarvis 1st of 2 Intermediate dog and Excellent grading
Stella 1st of 2 in Intermediate bitch and Excellent grading
… then onto RESERVE BITCH CHALLENGE (10 bi***es eligible for challenge).

Jarvis was the number one poodle breed ambassador for the afternoon, demanding pats and loves from everyone walking past. We love his temperament.

We will be out at Hawkesbury Showground on Saturday 19/4 for standard poodle day at the Poodle National.

We very proud to be the only standard poodle show at the DogsVictoria Night of Nights. Stella qualified with a Puppy in Show at our Royal Melbourne Poodle specialty show. She was also the only puppy with both a conformation and sporting title.

What an amazing weekend in Albury baby Stella (Ch Capanash Stars Dark Desire RN) had!!! At 12.5 months she is now a RUNNER UP BEST IN SHOW and MULTIPLE BEST IN GROUP WINNER!!!
1x Runner up Best in Show
2x Junior in Show
2x Best in Group (Group 1st).
2x Junior in Group
Congratulations to Marlene Sharpe as her owner and pro handler!

Well what can I say, Stella aged just over 12 months gained her final 2 passes in Rally Novice with scores of 96 & 90pts to make her Champion Capanash Stars Dark Desire RN (DogsVic pending). So proud of this young poodle.

Capanash Poodles are very proud of Dual Ch(T) Capanash Dark Dawn Arising (Wynton) co-owned and handled by Denis Cody.
