Capanash Standard Poodles

Exhibitor and Breeder of black/blue/white/cream standard poodles in conformation and obedience. Located in Melbourne, Australia.

I have owned Standard poodles since 2000 and participated in my first confomation show in 2002. In that time, I have handled 8 Standards and 1 Miniature to their Champion titles. Of these, three were my own prefix, one going on to his Grand Champion title. Capanash poodles also compete successfully in obedience (mostly with Marlene handling).I have been involved with Poodle Club Of Victoria commit

tee (Vice president, committee, puppy officer, webmaster, point score secretary). During the week, I am a secondary Science/Maths teacher. Having a Bachelor of Science degree has re-enforced the need for health testing when breeding, with health and good temperament being of the utmost importance.We believe in letting poodles be dogs so none of ours are kenneled and all sleep in the house. They are also allowed to run and play together (yes even the show dogs!). We have an 85 acre property that the poodles have a great time exploring.

What an amazing weekend in Albury baby Stella (Ch Capanash Stars Dark Desire RN) had!!! At 12.5 months she is now a RUNNER UP BEST IN SHOW and MULTIPLE BEST IN GROUP WINNER!!!

2x Junior in Show
2x Best in Group (Group 1st).
2x Junior in Group

Well what can I say, Stella aged just over 12 months gained her final 2 passes in Rally Novice with scores of 96 & 90pts to make her Champion Capanash Stars Dark Desire RN (DogsVic pending). So proud of this young poodle.

Vale our beautiful Delta 24/12/12 - 24/9/24. Grand Ch. Neuter. Ch. Capanash Darkest Beforethedawn CCD CD RA.Today she came home with me, sadly she didn't make it to her last show at PCOV where she was entered in the Veterans Parade. Such a special girl, taken too soon. She was very much loved and will never be forgotten. Run free at the Rainbow Bridge.

Happy 1st birthday to our amazing litter of 9 babies. Our two keeper puppies have done really well: Two Australian Champions, a specialty Ru Best of breed/dog Challenge winner, 2x Reserve specialty challenge + Puppy in Show, and a Rally obedience pass.
We are so pleased and the wonderful homes our babies have and love hearing about all their adventures.

Stella made her Rally debut at the PCOV trial today, what an amazing puppy she is scoring 90/100 & placing 3rd in the ring. 2nd trial she was more interested in what was happening in the next ring, but conditions were very trying with wind & rain.

Clever Delta won our dog training club annual award for highest aggregate score for Rally 2023. I know it's a Bassett hound on the trophy, this was the breed owned by the person who donated it, she was a training partner of our old girl Athena.

Mum is ticking the Condobolin show circuit off her 'now I am retired' bucket list. Stella is handling the travel like a pro and making lots of new friends. They have also won 5 Puppy in Groups.

At just 10 months it is lovely to have titled the two siblings.

Announcing that baby Jarvis has gained enough points to be know as AUSTRALIAN CHAMPION Capanash Dark Starry Night (pending paperwork).

This is all the sweeter as he broke his leg 5.5 months ago and had a plate put in his elbow, so we were happy to have him walking again let alone being a show pony. At almost 10 months, he still has a lot of growing up to do... especially in the brain department. I do hope that one day he settles into being a sensible show boy.
Thank you to all his supporters who gave me hope of a full recovery. He just loves the attention of shows and has a knack of demanding people be his friend.

This makes Australian Champion #3 for his daddy Am Ch Aust Ch Targa All The Stars (Import USA).

Stella (Capanash Stars Dark Desire) had a wonderful 3 shows in Melbourne. She was awarded 3x Best of Breed, totalling 28 points and is now more than halfway to her title. Today she won a lovely PUPPY IN GROUP. At 9.5 months old she is coming together nicely and starting to think like a show dog instead of silly puppy.

Baby Jarvis (Capanash Dark Starry Night) aka Mr Blue had his first show today. Let's just say he had lots of fun and made lots of new friends. This is the good 3 seconds from the 1:40 video... the rest involved shenanigans. It is very humbling showing a baby again... in the show ring they do want they want, when they want :)

Beef brisket bones are a favourite for the pups. We buy a big piece from the butcher and cut it up into chomping sized pieces. They demolish a chicken wing in a minute so this gives them more chewing time.
