Have you thought about your next groom?
Here's my January availability
From 1st-12th: FULLY BOOKED
Week of the 13th: 3-4 spots available
Week of the 20th: CLOSED
Week of the 27th: 8-9 spots available
If you can set up a regular schedule, I highly recommend it to avoid disappointment. Here's my recommendations:
Short haired breeds (include double coats and wired haired): baths every 3-4 weeks
Long haired clipped short or long: rotate between bath/bath and tidy at 4 weeks and full groom next 4 weeks
Long/Thick double coated breeds: De-shed (with or without tidy) every 4-8 weeks
Full length show coats: every 2-4 weeks.
Why come every 3-4 weeks?
The skin cycle of your dog is 21 days. To promote good skin and coat condition, we need to return nutrients back into the new skin as it emerges. Double coated breeds will benefit from removing the loose dead undercoat and allow the fur to work as intended as a protective barrier and maintaining body temperature. Wired haired dogs need their hairs manually stripped to avoid them clogging the pores and inhibiting the growth of new hairs, just like the bushes would do for them in the outdoors.
Long haired breeds need help keeping the length moisturised as their natural sebum struggles to reach the ends with proper regular brushing with the correct tools.
With the right products, the correct grooming for your breed and an educated groomer, your pets skin and coat should reach optimal condition, providing comfort and protection for your pet. If you'd like to learn what is recommended for your breed, don't hesitate to ask. Your pets health is my top priority.

CHANGES TO BOOKINGS AND AVAILABILITY
Things have changed in my household and as such, my availability is changing. The good news? More late afternoon appointments and more Saturday appointments. The downside? Fewer daytime appointments and limited online bookings.
If you have multiple dogs, or large dogs, you may find it easier to book through me via text, message or call 0422076883.
Thank you

Take a guess! How long has it been since the matted dog was in last? I'm curious how close you all will come with your estimates.

Remember:
If you want a long coat, visit every 4-6 weeks
If you want a short coat, visit every 6-8 weeks
If you wish to push to 10 or 12 weeks, ask for our shortest clip!
Nails need trimming every 4-6 weeks to prevent the quick (vein) from growing and causing foot/leg issues
A build up of eye boogers (as I like to call them) can cause the skin below to become inflamed or infected - this needs to be cleaned up regularly to prevent vet bills
Infections are more likely if your dog isn't washed regularly
Matted fur hurts and can cause injury when removed. In very extreme and rare cases, it can cause limb loss
Matted fur makes a wonderful home to fleas, maggots, and can trap grass seeds which can puncture your dog's skin and travel within the body. Once I found chicken wire trapped in a matted coat - ouch!
Matted fur is really itchy! If the dog gets their nail caught in the matting, they may rip the nail off (more common than you think!) and may require a vet visit for treatment
Removing matting at home is dangerous. It is common for groomers to see dogs come in injured from attempts at home grooming on matted dogs. Ask for advice on how to groom at home - I offer this for free! Otherwise get a pro to handle it.

On a side note, how beautiful is the German Shepherd's coat. How it shines!

Recently I volunteered my time and resources to groom BearBoo and Mellie for the wonderful Pyrenees Rescue Group who were in need of help. Pictures here is BearBoo who will be available for adoption in the near future with his sister Mellie.
Now the Pyrenees Rescue Group is in need of financial help after rescuing a Golden Retriever who needed medical treatment. If you are able, please consider donating.
