This little guy was needing some human help and our nurse Liana came to the rescue!!

He arrived full of worms, a heart murmur and a broken leg.

After lots of care from Liana and our other vets and nurses, little Sikan found a loving home with a big brother to show the way around.

It’s always hard to let these kittens go, especially for Liana who spends a lot of time caring for them but she finds that to fill the lives of other homes makes her heart fuller ❤️

If you’re ever looking to help out with fostering or adopting a rescue animal then ask one of our friendly staff and we can help you out.

*Nursing Care Tip* 🩺
Helping to tablet your pets.

Being able to handle your pet before it gets sick makes medicating easier & less stressful for both the nurse/vet & pet involved.
It ends up being a healthier and easier outcome and also helps if you have to give tablets at home (including flea and worming prevention).

Practice at home opening your pets mouth & treating straight away.
It encourages mouth opening for tableting and is a positive outcome for you pet.
In the video below nurse Liana has used cheese for a positive experience but your pets favourite treat is fine.

See the video below for demonstration.

For any enquiries or bookings please cal (03) 9842 8833.

Introducing one of our receptionist’s favourite patients.

This is Leo, the calmest dog that Chelsea has met who loves her pats even if it doesn’t seem like it.
He comes in to see Dr Julian and also gets regular bath and blowdrys’s to help with his itchy skin.
He’s also so soft and makes a busy vet environment seem very calm.

When you visit us don’t forget to say hello to Chelsea up the front (she loves having cuddles with your fluffy friends!!)

Itchy ears!

Meet Hana Leow, she came into the clinic for a checkup as she was shaking her head and had diacharge visible in her ear canals.

Dr Veronica took a swab and looked under the microscope....the photo you see shows the slide with cocci + yeast infection in left ear.

Unfortunately for Hana, she had too much nasty diacharge in her ear so will be back in the clinic Monday to have it all cleaned out before starting medication...and will also have a dental scale and polish at the same time.

Even with the itches, Hana is still smiling!

Let's talk rabbits!

Did you know rabbits need vaccinating every 6 months, against calcivirus? Calcivirus can be fatal in rabbits and is spread by flies and contact with infected rabbits.

Dave here is an indoor bunny, that has been vaccinated against calicivirus and lives a lovely indoor life with his loving family.

Along with vaccination, some easy ways to protect your rabbits from this virus, include keeping them indoors, rabbit proofing your backyard, limiting contact with unfamiliar rabbits and removing uneaten food to avoid flies.

Contact us to book in your rabbit for vaccination.....we LOVE rabbits!

Let's play a game of spotto......can you notice something unusual on this x-ray? We will give you some time to look...........

That's right...a staple!! Little gumush came in with vomiting and a sore throat after his owner noticed him eating something in the yard.. after an xray we spotted a staple! Not sure if this was the culprit, but after a thorough inspection of his throat and emesis to make him vomit, the staple was gone and Gumush was feeling much better 💕💕

VOLUME UP....have you ever heard 5 kittens purr all at the same time? Well you have now!

Our EDVH adoption kittens are getting all tucked in for a sleep. They are ready for their first vaccinations next week!

Did you know that kittens receive 3 vaccinations initially? At 6, 10 and 14 weeks old. These vaccinations are extremely important to ensure kittens are protected from contagious diseases that can make them very sick as their immune systems are not fully developed.

Vaccination is such a vital part of animal health and should be routinely done every year to keep your pets safe.
We even do rabbit vaccinations here at EDVH!

Let's talk dental care! Look at this before and after of a dog dental scale and polish!

Did you know that over 80% of dogs over 3 years old have active dental disease? By the time you notice plaque build up or staining on the teeth, dental disease has already begun! What you see on your pets teeth, is bacteria and disease which is often twice as bad under the gum line.

Recent studies have shown that after examining dental radiographs (X-rays) of cats and dogs with teeth that appeared normal to the naked eye, veterinarians found 27.8% of dogs and 41.7% of cats had diseased teeth. In pets with abnormal-looking teeth, veterinarians found additional diseased teeth in 50% of dogs and 53% of cats!

Dental health is critical to your pets overall health and left untreated can cause pain, heart problems and many other health issues. At EDVH we take oral health seriously. We offer complimentary dental checks to assess your pets teeth and gums and can tailor specific treatment to your pets needs.

If you've noticed staining, tartar or any changes to your pets teeth, call us on 9842 8833 or visit our website www.edvh.com.au to book your pets complimentary dental check

A very warm welcome to the EDVH team, to our new vet Dr Angel Chu!

Dr Angel Chu grew up just around the corner in Doncaster and went to the University of Melbourne to complete a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2018. In the first year of her career she moved up to Cairns, Queensland to practice in a small general practice with after hours emergency work. After COVID, she moved back to Melbourne and has been practicing at several general practice clinics for the last few years.

She is extremely passionate about behavioral medicine, establishing a better relationship between owners and their pets and helping us to understand our family members better. She has completed several courses on behavioural medicine and is sitting her membership exams later this year in June. Dr Angel runs extended behavioural consultations now at EDVH helping patients suffering from separation anxiety, fear around other people and dogs, aggression and common problem behaviours such as indoor elimination, barking, jumping and much more!

She owns 2 cats at home - Ikki and Jinora, and is expecting a golden retriever puppy to join their household soon as well. In her free time she loves reading with a cup of tea, hosting small dinner parties, weightlifting and eating out at new restaurants.

Welcome to the family Dr Angel, our clients are going to love you!

Angel can speak conversational Cantonese. She is very keen to meet you and your beloved pet soon at EDVH!'

Oh Addy....is this the face of a girl ready for the weekend...or is she sleepy post xrays?

Either way, you cant help but laugh at her goody little teeth!

Did you know that at EDVH have on-site xray and ultrasound.

Addy here came to us to have hip and elbow scoring done to make sure she is in the very best condition and won't suffer from arthritis and specific breed related issues later in life, or will allow her family to plan early interventions to improve quality of life in older years.

Hip and Elbow dysplasia is a common concern in breeds like Golden retrievers and many others. It causes alot of pain. If you are noticing your dog seems stiff, is limping or is slowing down, call us on 9842 8833 to arrange a consult and xrays.

Or if you want to get scoring done for potential problems, we can help with that too!
