🥵HOT WEATHER WARNING🥵

It’s been an extremely hot week in Melbourne & other parts of Australia….
The humidity has been extreme causing discomfort for our dogs & 🐶 humans!
Its going to be a warm one tomorrow in Brisbane with prediction of 35 to 36 degrees maximums.
With our dogs 🐕 so close to the ground it’s VITAL to be cautious when to walk then as they can suffer heatstroke!!

Please keep your pets cool. If you heading out add a couple of extra water bowls, ensure shade or indoor access.

Skip any walks until it has cooled right down.

And make yourself aware of heat stress signs and basic first aid.

Symptoms of hyperthermia include:

☀️ Excessive and noisy panting
☀️ Laboured respiration
☀️ Increased respiration and heart rate
☀️ Bright red tongue and pale gums
☀️ Thick sticky drool
☀️ Weakness
☀️ Collapse
☀️ Seizures
☀️ Vomiting and diarrhoea (sometimes with blood).

What to do if your dog shows these signs:

🚑 Bring the dog inside, and away from the heat source (for example car).

🚑 Cool your dog down
- Poor cool water (not ice water) over the dog’s head/body and groin
- Drape wet towels over your dog

🚑 Contact your vet or afterhours emergency vet immediately

🌿💚 Peppermint is great for dissolving Phlegm, which means it decreases thickness of secretions like mucous. This is a wonderful addition to the diet for pets suffering from dry eye, sinus or upper respiratory infections, or gall bladder sludge. Peppermint is anti-spasmodic so it can help with irritable bowel syndrome and muscle spasms. Fresh mint can be added to meals or peppermint tea can be used.

** I feed a 100% raw natural diet free of any sugars or chemicals…. . Research shows that dogs eating kibble, highly processed food contains hidden sugars, high in carbohydrates & synthetics are more likely to attract fleas, mosquitoes 🦟 etc. also the dogs immunity is lower
** I add ground pepitas to food daily as it’s a natural bug deterrent ( about a teaspoon per 9 kilos of dog )
** for dogs over 2yrs add 1/2 cap of ACV ( per 9 kilos dog ) into food daily

recommendations for dogs with thyroid issues. I adopted an 11yr mini Schnauzer rescue Milo years ago with this condition. My holistic vet suggested put him on a raw diet which I was already feeding…..
- his arthritis disappeared with 5 kilo weight loss! Yes he came obese
- his energy returned with better food & he started running
- had his lungs drained as he had passive smoking
- had his dental done as he had a mouth of mostly rotten teeth
