🌿 Foster Update: Meet Clover! 🌿

It’s our second foster update for Clover, and while he’s been in foster care for months now, he still hasn’t found his forever home. Clover’s journey is far from over, and we’re still hoping someone will open their heart and home to this sweet boy! 💚

Since the last update, Clover has come so far. He’s blossomed into a playful, affectionate boy who LOVES head scratches and pats. In fact, he’ll give you some aggressive headbutts and loud purrs to make sure you know he’s ready for more! He now curls up on the couch for snuggles and even sleeps on the bed every night. 💫

Clover enjoys his peaceful days soaking up the sun, chatting with the birds through the window, and making sure you know when it’s mealtime (he’s very vocal about it!). 🐦☀️

Here are a few things that make Clover one-of-a-kind:
• His bug-hunting skills are top-notch, no bug spray needed with Clover around! 🦟
• He makes the cutest squeaky noises when stretching or grooming himself. 🐱

Levi Update 🐾

Thank you to everyone who has shown interest in Levi! 💙 We’ve received a lot of applications, but many have a resident dog or cat, and Levi needs to be the only pet in the home. He was cat-tested today and unfortunately cannot be rehomed with a cat. Levi is selective with his dog friends and can escalate his play quickly, so we’re looking for an experienced dog owner who can manage his interactions with other dogs.

We’ve received a number of negative responses regarding Levi’s post, and while we appreciate everyone’s passion for finding him a home, we want to remind everyone that our staff and volunteers are doing the best they can. The toll of negativity can be overwhelming, and if it continues, we may not be able to keep advertising our animals in this way. Our team works tirelessly, often staying back every day, and going above and beyond, even on their days off, to care for these animals and to find them the right home.

Please remember, the work we do is not easy. We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from our community of foster carers, staff, volunteers, and supporters, but it’s important that we continue to create a positive and supportive environment for the animals in our care.

Levi has been advertised multiple times, and we’ve done several callouts for foster carers, but we haven’t received much interest or found the right homes, which is why he and many others are with us for longer than we’d like. We’re a proud no-kill shelter, and we will continue to care for Levi and all the others to the best of our ability until they find their perfect homes.

Two years. That’s how long Levi has been waiting. Two years of watching other dogs get picked while he’s overlooked again and again.

And we think we know why. Levi is strong, physically and in personality. He needs an owner who understands him, someone who can guide him and appreciate his big heart and even bigger energy. He needs to be in an only dog home as he can be selective with his canine companions sometimes -But what people don’t see is how incredibly smart he is and how much he wants to please his humans.

Levi is a total goofball with the biggest, happiest greetings. He loves people, so much that he sometimes forgets his own strength when he runs up for cuddles. He’s playful, affectionate, and always ready to smother you in love. He may be strong, but more than anything, he just wants to belong. To have someone who looks at him and finally says, “You’re the one.”

We need your help to find Levi a home so he doesn’t have to spend any more time in the shelter. He deserves a family, a couch to cuddle on, and a place where he finally feels safe and loved.

🎉Happy Adoption Tale: Lenny!

“Lenny update! He has been such a great addition to the family, and he gets along with his rescue sister Sasha so beautifully, they are the perfect match, Yin and Yang.

This handsome boy is full of energy and cracks us up doing crazy zoomies through the house. We celebrated his 2nd birthday on the weekend, and as you can see in the video, his apple muffin did not last long!

He is super smart but can be just as stubborn. He was toilet trained within a week and sits and waits for his food. Every morning when my alarm goes off, he comes in to say hi and give me a kiss 🥰

We have found a doggy park he loves to go to and socialize.

He’s such a gorgeous boy who gets smothered with love from the family… especially my teenage son. 🐾🐾”

A huge thank you to Lenny’s amazing family for changing his life for the better and giving him the second chance he truly deserves! Seeing him so happy and thriving fills our hearts with joy, it’s why we do what we do.

Cat donations are often overlooked, but our rescue cats need just as much support as our dogs! Right now, we’re in urgent need of premium adult & kitten dry food (like Optimum, Advance or Black Hawk) and kitty litter (Woolworths clay litter)

If you can help, please drop off donations at our Glen Iris shelter (36 Weir St, Glen Iris VIC 3146) between 9 AM and 5 PM. Ongoing support is always appreciated, as our cats and kittens rely on the generosity of our community.

A Heartfelt Thank You! 🙏💕

We are absolutely blown away by the incredible response to our urgent call for dry food donations. We put out the plea, and you, our amazing community, answered in the most generous way. We truly weren’t expecting such an overwhelming turnout, and we can’t even begin to express how grateful we are.

Because of you, our rescue animals will have full bellies and happy hearts. Your kindness and support mean everything to us, and we simply couldn’t do what we do, saving lives, giving second chances, and helping animals in need, without you by our side.

Of course, our long-term residents Zuko and Trixie took their roles as “official donation inspectors” very seriously, making sure every bag of food met their high standards!
