🎄✨ The 12 Stars of Christmas: Day 2 – Fawn’s Story ✨🎄

Our second star is a gentle, affectionate soul who’s ready to find her perfect home.

Meet Fawn 🌟
Fawn is a 2-year-old Domestic Medium Hair with a heart full of love. She’s a true lap cat, always ready to snuggle under the blankets with you. Fawn thrives on quality time and would love nothing more than a cozy, quiet home where she can relax with her people. While she may be a little shy at first, Fawn quickly warms up and becomes a loyal companion.

Fawn’s ideal home:
🐾 Quiet and Calm: Fawn would be happiest in an adult home or with older teenagers.
🐾 Lap Cat: If you’re looking for a cuddly friend, Fawn is the one!
🐾 Feline Companion: Fawn is currently sharing a condo with Buckaroo, and they would love to stay together, but she can be adopted separately if needed.
🐾 People-Oriented: Fawn loves human company and would like her people to be around as much as possible.

🎁 Fawn’s Christmas Wish: Her forever home where she can snuggle, relax, and enjoy all the love she is so deserving of.

Fawn is an affectionate, people-loving cat who is waiting for a family to call her own. Let’s make her Christmas wish come true!

🔍 Microchip Number: 956000014892343
🐶 S*x: Male
🎂 Age: ~18 months old
🌟 Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier X
⚡ Activity Level: Medium – loves his walks, pool time, and play sessions
❤️ Personality: Goofy, sweet, and loyal once he knows you

Stevie is a special boy with so much love to give—he’s just waiting for his chance. He’s one of our long-termers, and alongside his brother Nial, he’s the last of his litter still looking for a forever family. Overlooked time and time again, Stevie has grown into a happy, well-rounded pup who just needs someone to see how special he is.

At first, Stevie can be a little nervous around new people, but once he warms up, he’ll show you his goofy, loveable side. With his adorable little underbite and signature commando crawl, Stevie knows how to make everyone laugh—he’s a born entertainer. Give him a pool, some toys, and a walk in the sunshine, and you’ll see him at his happiest.

🏡 Ideal Home:
• An experienced handler familiar with unpredictable behavior in new situations
• A home with time to continue his training—Stevie is eager to learn and always tries to please
• Ideally, a young, playful female dog to match his energy and give him companionship
• A family who’ll adore his quirks, give him love, and let him be the goofy boy he is

Stevie does have some skin allergies, but they’re easily managed with proper care. In return, he’ll be your loyal sidekick, bringing joy and laughs to every day. Life with Stevie is rewarding—there’s nothing better than seeing this sweet boy’s trust grow and watching his playful spirit shine through.

🎄✨ The 12 Stars of Christmas: Day 1 – Neville’s Story ✨🎄

What is The 12 Stars of Christmas?
This festive season, we’re highlighting 12 incredible animals who have been waiting far too long for their forever homes. Each day, we’ll introduce you to one of our stars, sharing their story and hoping to make their Christmas wish come true—a loving family to call their own.

Meet Neville 🌟
Neville is a stunning 3-year-old Bull Arab x with a heart as big as his paws. He’s been with us longer than we’d ever hoped, and despite being advertised many times, he’s had very little interest. But we know his perfect match is out there—someone who will see him for the incredible dog he is.

Neville is:
🐾 Playful and Energetic: He loves toys and needs an active home that can keep up with his lively spirit.
🐾 A Snuggle Pro: Once he trusts you, he’ll happily curl up for cuddles and shower you with love.
🐾 Independent with Dogs: He prefers people to canine company and would thrive as your one and only furry companion.
🐾 Strong and Handsome: Neville is a big, strong boy who needs a firm, experienced handler to guide him.

🎁 Neville’s Christmas Wish: A family with older teens or adults who will love him endlessly, match his energy, and fill his days with joy, laughter, and all the toys!

Neville has been overlooked for too long, but we believe this is his time to shine. Can you help us make his wish come true?

📩 How to help:
• Adopt Neville and give him the home he’s been dreaming of.

• Share his story to help him find his forever family.

HELP TARZ AND ANIMALS LIKE HIM: DONATE TO OUR PAWS & CLAWS DRIVE 🐾

At Save A Dog Scheme, we give every animal the care they need to live a happy, pain-free life. But we can’t do it alone.

Meet Tarz, our resident teddy bear and one of our long-termers who has been waiting far too long for his forever home. Tarz has spent much of his time with us suffering on and off from chronic ear infections—painful, relentless, and impossible to ignore. Despite countless treatments, medications, and procedures to flush and pack his ear with antibiotics, the infections kept returning.

In late October, our team, in partnership with Glenhuntly Vets, made the tough but necessary decision to give Tarz a TECA procedure (Total Ear Canal Ablation). This life-changing surgery removed his entire ear canal to stop the infections once and for all. While it meant losing hearing in one ear, it gave Tarz the chance to live pain-free for the first time in a long while.

And let us tell you—he’s thriving! Tarz is more relaxed, happy, and content than ever. Seeing him smile after all he’s been through reminds us why we do this work. Plus, who says a teddy bear can’t rock life with just one ear?

But here’s the truth: surgeries like Tarz’s are expensive. And Tarz isn’t alone. From routine check-ups, vaccinations, and desexing, to major, life-saving procedures, the costs of veterinary care are mounting. On top of vet bills, we face daily costs for food, medication, transport, cleaning supplies, and everything it takes to keep our shelter running.

Right now, we need YOUR help to reach our $60,000 target for our Paws & Claws Donation Drive. Without your support, we simply can’t continue to give animals like Tarz the care they deserve.

Every dollar counts. Your donation could fund a life-saving surgery, pay for a routine vet check-up, or keep bellies full and tails wagging. It’s your kindness that allows us to change lives, one paw at a time.

Please donate today and be the reason animals like Tarz get a second chance.

🎉A Happy Adoption Tale for Tink!

After spending so much time in our care, Tink has finally found her perfect forever home, and we couldn’t be happier! Her new family tells us she’s settled in beautifully—whether it’s her joyful zoomies, endless snuggles, or that big Staffy smile, Tink is living her best life surrounded by love.

We absolutely live for these updates—there’s nothing better than seeing one of our long-termers finally get their happily ever after.

‘I wanted to give you and update on how Tink is doing with us.

She was nervous on the car ride home but Ethan gave her lots of cuddles and pats to help her stay calm.
When we got home, she checked out all rooms of the house then went outside, went toilet and did a lot of sniffing around.
We played for a bit and then went inside where she got comfortable on the couch cuddling with us and watching some TV.
She had her dinner at 6:30pm while we had ours.
She slept with me the first night but kept pushing me, licking my face and hogging the bed so we I decided we would work out a new sleeping spot for her.

Day 2 went well, she helped me wake Ethan for school and drop him off and pick him up.
Once Nathan got home we played with the hose and zoomed around the backyard.
She slept well on the couch that night so that is where she sleeps now.

Day 3 We had a funeral to attend so Nathan's mum came and looked after Tink.
Even though Sue had a Staffy named Elvis we decided that they wouldn't meet just yet, we want Tink to get use to us and her home for a while before they meet.
Tink started the day with cuddles with Ethan after he got ready for school.
Sue and Tink played ball and tug of war with the new toys Sue brought her.
When we got home she did some sunbathing and zooming around the backyard.
We brought her a new teddy that she loves to take everywhere with her and even sleep with at night.

Day 4 was a bit more fun for her.
We took her on her first walk and she did amazing. Pulled on the lead but towards the end calmed down and was walking next to us. We got her a new collar and harness as well.
We gave her a bath which she wasn't very fond of but Nathan let her cuddle him and lick his face so she calmed down.
She got 2 treats after for doing so well.

She is perfect in every way.

We are so in love with her.’

If you’ve adopted one of our animals, we’d love to hear how they’re doing! Drop an update in the comments or send us a message—these stories mean the world to us.

If you think you could offer a home like this to one of our animals, check out all the beautiful souls still waiting for their turn at forever:
https://saveadog.org.au/animals-adoptions/

Every happy ending starts with a second chance. Let’s make more of them together. ❤️

🐶 Meet Our Dog Of The Week: Lauren!

📋 Source Number: BR100902
🔍 Microchip Number: 956000011344132
👩‍🦰 S*x: Female
🎂 Age: ~2 years old
🌟 Breed: Staghound X
⚡ Activity Level: High – loves her zoomies
❤️ Personality: Timid, playful, and full of potential

🏡 Ideal Home:
• A calm, patient household ready to show her the world isn’t so scary
• A home with a secure yard where she can enjoy her zoomies
• Ideally, another playful dog who can be her guide and best friend
• Experienced owners who understand shy dogs and can help her blossom at her own pace

Lauren’s story is one of quiet courage. She came to us with 16 other dogs, each one timid and unsure of the world. Over time, every single one of them found their forever homes—every single one except Lauren. Now, she’s the last one waiting, watching, and hoping her turn will come soon.

Lauren is a dog of contrasts: shy but curious, timid yet full of potential. She’s happiest in familiar spaces, like a sunny backyard where she can run her heart out and play with her beloved toys. In fact, she’s a bit of a toy hoarder, carefully collecting them in her bed like treasures.

While Lauren struggles with new environments and can be unsure of strangers, there’s something so rewarding about earning her trust. When she looks up at you with her big, soulful eyes and gives you her little smile, it’s pure magic. She adores other dogs and would thrive with a playful companion who can help her navigate the world.

Lauren needs someone special—someone who sees past her fears and understands that all she really needs is love, patience, and time to blossom. She deserves a family who will believe in her and show her that not every new experience is scary.

💙 Could you be the one to give Lauren the happy ending she’s been waiting for?

🐱 Meet Our Cat Of The Week: Derek!

📋 Source Number: BR100902
🔍 Microchip Number: 956000012845439
👨 S*x: Male
🎂 Age: ~2 years old
🐈 Breed: Domestic Short Hair
🌟 Personality: Playful, curious, and full of life

Derek is an energetic little live-wire, completely enchanted by all of life’s offerings. Whether it’s wrestling with his beloved kicker toys or getting up close and personal with a delivery box, this spirited boy brings joy and excitement to every moment. Life hasn’t always been easy for Derek—he recently underwent surgery to remove his left eye, but that hasn’t slowed him down one bit! He’s adjusting beautifully and is just as playful and curious as any other cat.

Derek does need a little extra care to ensure his environment is safe and consistent due to his surgery, and because he’s bursting with energy, he hasn’t quite figured out boundaries yet. For that reason, he’d do best as the only cat in the household. Derek can be a bit too enthusiastic for feline companions, but he could live with a cat-savvy dog, as long as they give him the space he needs to thrive.

He would flourish in an adult home or one with teenagers who can respect his playful, sometimes boisterous nature. Since Derek’s surgery, it’s important that he remains an indoor-only cat to keep him safe and sound.

🏡 Ideal Home:

• An adult home or one with respectful teenagers
• The only cat in the household (but could live with a cat-savvy dog)
• An indoor-only environment to keep him safe post-surgery
• A family who can provide a consistent, safe environment to help him thrive

Are you ready to welcome this charming, one-eyed wonder into your home? Derek is eager to begin his next adventure and will bring endless love and excitement to the right family. If you think your home is the perfect match for this special little guy, apply today!

This holiday season, we are in desperate need of your help. At Save A Dog Scheme, we fight every single day to give our animals a second chance at life.
But right now, we’re struggling. The cost of veterinary bills is mounting every single week, and we can’t keep up. Emergency surgeries, ongoing treatments, medications—these are the essentials that keep our animals alive. And without them, many will not survive. But the bills don’t stop there. Every day, we face the costs of food, cleaning supplies, transport, and everything else needed to keep our shelter running. These costs are relentless. We rely entirely on donations to survive. We are not funded by the government—so we have no choice but to turn to YOU for help.

Right now, we’re facing a crisis. We can’t continue to provide the care these animals desperately need without your help. We’re falling behind on medical bills, and the weight of it all is becoming too much. If we don’t get help, we won’t be able to save them. Every week, the bills grow larger. The animals don’t have the luxury of waiting. They need treatment NOW. Your donation will directly save lives. A single contribution could mean life or death for one of our animals. It could fund a surgery that saves a dog’s leg, a treatment that cures an infection, or a medication that ensures a kitten survives its first days. It will pay for food that fills their hungry bellies, cleaning supplies to keep them safe, and transport to get them the care they need. We need YOU to step up.

Please, donate today. No amount is too small. Your generosity could be the difference between an animal living or dying. The pressure is unbearable, but with your support, we can continue this life-saving work. If you can, please donate NOW by using the QR code or clicking this link: https://www.givenow.com.au/sadspawsandclaus.

Once you’ve donated, please like and comment below so we can thank you personally. Share this post with your friends, family, and anyone who might be able to help. Every share brings us one step closer to reaching our goal. Together, we can make sure these animals get the care they need. Without your support, we cannot survive. These animals are counting on us. Please, don’t let them down.
Every dollar counts.
Every life matters.
Thank you for caring.
Thank you for saving lives.

Two months ago, Nial had his moment in the spotlight as our Dog of the Week, and despite all the love he received, he’s still patiently waiting for his forever home. This sweet boy has so much love to give, yet he’s still stuck in shelter life. Can you help make Nial’s Christmas wish come true? Let’s get him out of the shelter and into a warm, loving home where he can finally feel safe and cherished. ❤️

🐶 Meet Nial!

📋 Source Number: BR100902
🔍 Microchip Number: 956000014951759
👨 S*x: Male
🎂 Age: ~15 months old
⚡ Activity Level: High – playful and energetic
🌟 Personality: Delightfully goofy, affectionate, with a love for fun and games
🏠 Best with: An adult home, preferably with a confident female dog, though not a necessity.

🏡 Ideal Home:

• An active household with plenty of engagement and exercise
• A home with or without a confident female dog to help Nial learn some manners
• Owners who can provide consistent training and routine
• Someone prepared to manage his quirks and provide a loving environment

Meet Nial, an American Staffordshire Terrier X who’s a bundle of energy and joy! At around 15 months old, Nial is a delightful goofball with endless enthusiasm. His playful antics, from rolling in the grass to splashing around in the pool, are sure to bring smiles and laughter to your home. He’s always up for fun and enjoys his walks and playtime.

Though Nial has a dominant streak, he would thrive in a home, preferably with a confident female canine to help guide him towards maturity. He’s a bit unsure about new doggy friendships, sometimes eager and sometimes more laid-back, so he might need some time to find his way, and an owner who has experience and the patience to help him figure out his feelings.

Nial is incredibly affectionate and loves to be around his humans. After a good play session or a bit of exercise, he’s content to settle down and relax. He does get a bit lonely when he’s alone in quieter areas, preferring the action-packed spots where he can see and interact with others.

He has a few quirks—like being a bit of a klutz, getting underfoot, and having a red, itchy tummy due to allergies. Despite these, his loving and lively nature makes him a true joy to have around. Nial would do best in an adult home with dedicated owners who can help him thrive with proper training and routine.

💛 Nial is ready to bring his playful spirit and affection into your life! 🏡

🐱Bramble

📋 Source Number: BR100902
🔍 Microchip Number: 956000015921815
👧 S*x: Female
🎂 Age: ~2 years old
🏡 Breed: Domestic Short Hair

Bramble may be compact, but she is packed with personality! This tenacious little lady is a true attention seeker who loves being close to her humans. She will happily follow you from room to room, always with high hopes that feed time is just around the corner. Her love of food is unmatched, and it makes her an excellent candidate for training (or at least convincing you to give her a snack!).

When she is not keeping tabs on her humans, Bramble can be found zooming around the house, chasing after her favorite string toys, or randomly getting the zoomies. Her playful antics and bursts of energy are endlessly entertaining, and she’ll keep you laughing with her quirky charm.

While Bramble prefers to be the only cat in the household, she adores cat-savvy dogs and could happily share her space with a calm, respectful canine companion. She would thrive in a home with plenty of room to explore and a family who appreciates her independent, yet affectionate nature.

🏡 Ideal Home:
• Indoor-only with lots of space for zoomies and playtime
