A huge thank you to Donal from Next Level Dog Training and Saul from Calm K9 for their dedication and support! These incredible trainers come in multiple times a week to work with our dogs, and the progress has been remarkable.
Zuko (German Shepherd x) is one of our more challenging dogs to rehome due to his lack of training and socialization, but just look at him now-walking on a lead and following commands like a pro!
Tink (Boxer x Staffordshire Bull Terrier) struggled with leash manners and pulling, but thanks to their efforts, she's improving every day, learning to walk politely on the lead and mastering basic commands.
Wally (Labrador) isn't up for adoption just yet, but Donal and Saul are helping us assess his needs, socializing him, and teaching him commands and better leash manners. We're thrilled with the progress all these dogs are making, and it's heartwarming to see how happy they are during training sessions.
We're incredibly grateful to Donald and Saul for volunteering their time and sharing their valuable knowledge with us. If you're interested in adopting, Zuko and Tink are listed on our website, and Wally will be available soon. When you adopt, we'll provide the trainers' business cards, so you have their support as you help your new friend settle in. Our trainers, like us, are committed to finding the best possible homes for these wonderful dogs.
We couldn't be happier that Arthur finally found his perfect home ❤️🏠
Could you adopt a senior too? 👴🐕
Let's just take a minute and appreciate some of our gorgeous cats and kittens up for adoption 😻💙💛

🐶At Save A Dog Scheme, our number one priority is giving dogs a second chance, and we have been most successful throughout the years.
We often take the dogs that other organisations are unable to take. Some dogs are easier to rehome than others and most of the time this is due to size, breed, age and behaviour
These dogs with more special needs would make fantastic companions to the right person and deserve a second chance just as other dogs do.
Generally these dogs require a particularly experienced and skilled human companion to lead them. Many dogs might be dog reactive, strong, have separation anxiety or have other quirks which might make them a bit of a challenge.
🐾One of these dogs is Zuko! 🐾
This beautiful boy is a 3 year old German Shepherd X.
He is incredibly affectionate with his favourite people and nothing makes him happier than having a splash in water on a hot summer day!
He is true to his breed - driven, intelligent and eager to please. Zuko learns new tricks quickly and develops a close bond with anyone who dedicates their time to build a connection and train him.
Although Zuko does well walking alongside other dogs, he has had minimal experience socialising with other canines and will need someone who has the experience and time to build his confidence and manners while interacting with other dogs.
The perfect home for Zuko would be one where he is an only dog, in an adult home, and with a human companion who is familiar with the Shepherd breed. He is a strong boy looking for his pack leader!
Bramble
Introducing Bramble, Our cat of the week, a food enthusiast with a heart as big as her appetite! This delightful feline craves enrichment and playtime, and would appreciate space for zooming around! Mama Suzie gave birth to these gorgeous puppies this week at SADS 🥰
Keep an eye on our website for when mum and puppies go up for adoption next year ❤️🐕🐾
👏❤️ Appreciation Post ❤️👏
SavourLife , who donate 50% of their profits to Animal rescue, have once again come to SADS rescue . They actually reached out to SADS when they noticed a social media post that we were in need of food for the large number of dogs in our care. They donated 500kg of food! And we are so appreciative! We received puppy food for the little ones in our care, which is also used for underweight dogs, Adult Lean for the occasional chubby ones, and normal adult food for those who just enjoy chowing down on a really nice meal.
SADS are so very grateful for their support, as are the dogs
🙏 Thank you and big woofs 🐾
🐶⚽Almost everyone is excited for the CommBank Matildas match tonight, but we're busy passing the ball to our very own Tilly! ⚽🐶 (This one's a keeper🤭)
Matilda
Source Number: BR100902
German Shepherd
Female
~7 years old
Microchip Number: 943094320472877
Matilda craves human company and will happily sit with you all day. She has lived with her friend Cooper in the past but now wants to have you all to herself at home so does not want to share. Matilda is not overly interested in other canines and while she is happy to have a quick greeting she then prefers to go off and do her own thing. She really enjoys her walks and needs to be out and about enjoying the scenery. Matilda is perfectly toilet trained and is searching for an adult home. Matilda does not want to live with a cat.
If you think you'd be the best team mate for Tilly, please send in your application through https://saveadog.org.au/animals-adoptions/601/medium-large-dogs/4051/
Puppies
Hello everyone! Due to numerous applications for the border collie puppies, posted earlier this week, Save a dog scheme has currently stopped taking applications of interest. We want to thank everyone for liking and sharing our post and helping these puppies find their forever loving homes ❤️
2022 recap

We've managed to find forever homes for many of our dogs and cats these past 365 days and it is all thanks to you, our followers, contributors and foster homes.
SADS would like to especially thank our volunteers and staff for their countless hours of hard work throughout the year, we wouldn't be able to do what we do, without each and every one of you.
🥂 Cheers to a new year, full of love, hard work, happiness and dog hair ! 🐕
