Seeking urgent foster home for male desexed whippet, currently located in North Sydney.
Ideally you have breed experience and no other dogs currently. It’s a big ask we know but this is an urgent request.
Please message us should you be able to offer a home for this lovely boy to rest his head.

Meet Red, a gorgeous boy who wants to go everywhere with you and slowly continue to learn all about the world around him.

Red was born in January 2024 and is a small boy. At his last vet visit, he was 7.5kgs, but we suspect after spending time with his beautiful foster family, he gained some more weight as well as having a little growth spurt.

Red is a snuggler and likes to know where his people are. It is not uncommon to feel his gentle gaze burning into the side of your head as you are pottering about doing your daily activities. He like his brothers has still got a lot to learn, but the strides he has made since being in care is nothing but astonishing.

While being fostered we learnt the following about Red: He loves playing ball, his favourite treats (of the healthy variety) are carrots and broccoli, he is nervous about loud sudden noises (lawn mower starting up, motor bike zipping past etc) and has needed to be carried if he shut down on his walks. However, he LOVES to play on the beach, play in his local quiet park, snuggle with his foster sister, in his parents bed, on the couch with them or in the sun on the back deck. Red would not suit a family that is busy, loud and always on the go. He has mild anxiety, however with the right home, this will all fall away. Another endearing thing about Red and his siblings is waking in the morning generally involves him giving you a full facial and excited little nibbles when he hears the alarm sound for the day – in fact, anytime he can give you licks, he will try. Naturally, all involved are making sure he and his siblings tone this down a bit.

Reds foster mum has suggested that his ideal home is one that is peaceful. He is sensitive to loud sounds and needs someone who is “consistent, patient and committed to teaching Red that the world beyond the front gate is really exciting.” He can use a dog door, but while in foster care, he also learnt to let his family know when he wanted to go outside by standing at the door. He is nervous around new people initially, but does warm up. One thing that has become apparent while in care is there are certain males he is nervous around. This has been the case in both the rescuers home and his foster home. He can settle and trust, so please don’t let this deter you.

He will need a dog friend to play with as well as snuggle with. Playing tug of war with toys was a common sight when he was with his siblings. Also, endless zoomies in the garden was also a favourite.

Red has also had all his vet care done since arriving. He is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and wormed.

His foster mum summed up Red so nicely in this message recently sent to us; ‘he is a stunning gift of love to the world. Love will bring his greatest side out and will end his fears.’

Should you be interested in applying for Red, please email:

A fee applies for Red.

UPDATE: (7/10/24) ON HOLD. We will be reading over all applications this week and be back in touch with all who have applied. Thank you so much.

Located on the Mornington Peninsula Victoria.

Meet Silver, a stunning boy who has an abundance of love to give and ongoing lessons to learn.

Silver was born in January 2024 and will always remain small due to the start he had in life. At his last vet visit, he weighed 8.1kgs and was the biggest of the males in his litter. He has thrived in his rescuers home and learnt SO much. While recuperating, receiving vet treatment, being shown love, attention and what life should be like, he has also gained much needed condition (weight).

He is most at home snuggled with his whippet friends or ideally with his human at night time. It is not uncommon for him to start under the doona, then lay across the top of your pillow when he gets too hot.

Like most pups his age, he is into everything! He will play with a fallen lemon off a tree, steal your socks from the bathroom floor, play with balls and squeaky toys, do zoomies, sun seek, eat grass, flowers, twigs, your best pair of sneakers – you leave things out, he will very possibly investigate them with his mouth... He and his brothers have been affectionally called land sharks since arriving. Whether they are playing bitey face or gnashing on something they have found, there is never a dull moment to be had.

His foster mum has said she often feels like she is managing a kindergarten of dogs as she is always asking the pups to, ‘drop that!’, ‘what’s that in your mouth?’, ‘who ate that?’, ‘who needs to go to the toilet – that is an awful smell!’, ‘leave your brother alone’, ‘where’s your manners?’ Needless to say, she would not have had it any other way as the change in their condition and watching them grow in confidence has been so rewarding.

Silver will need time and training, especially little things like walking on lead in the street. He like his brother, can get overwhelmed with loud sudden noises and needs assurance that everything is ok. He has been learning to do some basic things such as sit, using the dog door and riding in the car, but these will need to be continued as there has been so much going on for this little guy since he arrived.

Silvers ideal home is one where he is very much part of the home, but has access to a safe outside area where he can run, play, go to the toilet and maintain his new found independence. He has been living with his littermates, and other existing dogs, settled in well and would need another young gentle dog to play with.

Silver has had all his vet care done. He is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and used to having a shower to wash up after he has found the duck poo to roll in – sigh.
We request that people from Victoria apply only. He has been through so much, we are not willing to put unnecessary stress on him to transport him to another state. We are sorry if this disappoints anyone from interstate, but are sure you will understand his needs come first.

Should you be interested in Silver and all of is loving traits, please email:
[email protected]

There is a fee for Silver.

UPDATE: We are thrilled to report that Odin is on trial. 💕

UPDATE (6/9/24): ON HOLD. Thank you everyone for the amazing interest in beautiful Odin. We will be sending out applications and reviewing them over the next few days. We will be in touch with everyone as soon as all applications have been looked at.

AVAILABLE: Meet Odin a 13mth old living on the Mornington Peninsula (VIC)

Odin is a very sweet, smaller, boy who has endured quite a lot in his short life. He has adapted very well with his recent rescue and once settled became the chief snuggler and keen observer of all the things going on in the house.

He absolutely needs a person/people who understands whippets sensitivities and is willing to provide ongoing training across all areas. He would be best suited to a home where he can be with you ALL the time. Active retirees or full time work from home people we feel would be best.

It should be said he can be left alone, however after what he has been through, we would love to see him with a home where he can be the centre of there world(s) and have companionship of another dog(s) to play with and burn off energy.

NEED TO KNOW:

* Good with other dogs? Yes
* Good in the car? Does not love the car
* Able to use a dog door? Yes
* Good on lead? Learning
* Housetrained? Mostly. Maintaining routine is important
* Good with children? Yes
* Food motivated? Yes absolutely. Great for ongoing training
* Good with cats? Has lived with them previously but not cat tested while in care
* Any phobias? He does not like caps or people covering their heads. He will take a while to warm to you, but once he does he is a softie who has a lot off love to give.

Should you be interested in learning more about Odin or feel you can provide him the home he richly deserves, please email: [email protected]

We are requesting homes that are Victoria only as he isn’t great with transport. We feel this would be an unnecessary stress to put him through should people from other states want him.

UPDATE: Thank you so much for your amazing generosity and messages. We are currently getting forms out so we can learn more about these lovely homes.
We do not require any further volunteers at this stage. 💕

Recently we were contacted to assist several Whippets who needed to be urgently surrendered. Without hesitation we dropped everything and drove up to Orange NSW to pick them up. A day and a half of driving over 2000kms and we got the Whippets back to the Mornington Peninsula.
They have all been vet checked, received vaccinations, are learning all there is to know about toilet training along with providing SO much love to us.

We are now seeking a couple of breed experienced Whippet foster carers.

Ideal Requirements:
• Ideally you work from home
• Must have another Whippet or similar
• Will assist in getting dogs to and from vets in Mount Eliza
• Be ok with doing some basic training - support given
• Have a secure outdoor area
• Allow home/yard inspection

Should you be interested, please get in touch and we can send you a foster form.

Thank you so much. 💕

PS. The below poppet has found his favourite spot over the floor vent - he is very warm hence not wearing a jacket.

SHARING/AVAILABLE: NSW

PRIVATE Adoption (NSW/ACT unless someone drives from interstate)

"Radar" - female Whippet x (weighs 16.5 kilos), aged 2 yrs

Microchip no: 941000026820161

Desexed

C5 Vaccinated (due again March 2025)

Heartworm/flea treated/wormed

Age: almost 2 yrs (dob: 1 July 2022)

MUST HAVE: time/energy to provide exercise and stimulation for a young dog

NOT SUITABLE FOR: units / cats / young children under 5 yrs

Radar has been with her family since she was adopted as a puppy from a rural rescue who can’t take her back. Radar has many wonderful characteristics and is extremely typical of a whippet. Noone is sure what she is really crossed with but she is whippet sized at 16.5 kilos. Radar is great at returning to you when off lead (see the video), she loves other dogs and people too.

At home she loves to play with her dog brother however she will put herself in between you and them when you are giving attention elsewhere so potentially may like being an only dog at home. She is very loving and loves to be close to you, she will stick her head under your hand for pats! She has never been at all aggressive with another dog.

Radar’s owners are sadly unable to provide her with as much attention/exercise as she needs due to a change in their working hours. Although she has her dog brother for company, she has dug some holes and chewed up some household items (and managed to break a tooth which was removed by the vet) which is pretty typical of a young whippet. The family has come to the conclusion that Radar needs more attention and life adventures than they can provide at this point.

Breed experience or knowledge will be given preference, someone who has the time to dedicate to her happiness and fulfilment.

Radar information:

· Trained to use a dog door (housetrained)

· Sits, stays and is great in the car

· Crate trained – she loves to sleep in her crate (this will come with her)

· Loves children (lives with a child)

· Plays tug of war, not the best at bringing a ball back

· Has great recall

An adoption fee (to her owners) will apply. Someone will be lucky to have Radar in their lives!

If you are interested in applying to adopt Radar, please email [email protected] with "Radar" in the subject.

UPDATE: We are pleased to let you know Pip has gone on trial. She has had a huge amount of interest and she really was spoilt with so many amazing homes on offer. 💕

UPDATE: (27/5) We are currently going through all applications and have also had a couple more whippets become available in Victoria - so as you can imagine are very busy! We will endeavour to get back to each and evey one who has sent in an application, we appreciate your patience.

UPDATE: (24/5) On Hold. Applications that have been sent out are still able to be sent back until midday Saturday 25/5.

AVAILABLE: Pip, 16mth old female (Victoria only.)

Meet Pip, an energetic, happy and very cheeky girl located on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria.

Source Number: RE148865
Microchip Number: 956000014670598

Pip came into care after a change in her families living arrangements. She is a pocket rocket who has been learning all there is to know about manners, basic training, and being part of a busy home with other dogs and children.

Pip is an opportunist and given half a chance will slink off with anything in reach on the kitchen bench. We have learnt not to leave the steak marinating while waiting for the pan to warm up, a loaf of jalapeno bread out while we prepare a cheese board, or even food containers out waiting to be cleaned because Pip will steal them. She has also been known to take her main humans clothes off the bed and proudly display them across the back lawn... Pip has no shame, BUT is the sweetest girl and is always keen to please.

We think she would be amazing at Lure Coursing or agility. Our first outing with Pip highlighted her speed when it came to running and playing with other sighthounds. She craves stimulation, ongoing training and a positive, calm but firm owner.

We do not think Pip has had a huge amount of dog socialisation - except for the dogs she has lived with. She is good on lead, but if you take her to a fenced dog park and there are other dogs, she can become quite hyper. Once off the lead (with permission from other dog owners) and has had a run with the dogs, she is quick to settle and enjoys all the interactions with the unfamiliar dogs.

Pip is currently living with Whippets, an Italian Greyhound, a Cavoodle and a recently surrendered Dachshund. She has been great with all of them, but needs to be supervised with the smaller dogs as she can pounce when trying to get them to play.

Pip is great in the car, LOVES toys, has a wonderful appetite (and an iron stomach), and so much love to give. We love that she is vocal and gets most put out when other dogs get attention or are referenced. She will do her best 'Chewbacca' impression to ensure all eyes are on her.

If you are still reading about Pip, you must be interested in her and what she is looking for in a home. We feel the following will be required in her forever home:

* Solid/secure fencing
* Another calm, but playful dog companion (ideally no more than 3 years gap)
* An owner who is committed to ongoing positive reinforcement training
* Opportunities to work on her social skills at secure/fenced dog park that are not too busy.
* A lovely garden where she can continue to do zoomies and play with her toys
* And did we mention ongoing training!

Pip is desexed, vaccinated and has a clean bill of health. She is not available for interstate adoption.

Should you be interested in applying for Pip, please email: [email protected] for an application form.

An adoption fee will apply.
