Urgently needing to downsize before summer comes.
Have 3 young thoroughbreds coming up for sale earlier than I hoped for.
Harry - 3yo approx 14.3hh-15hh
Lightly handled, has had a roller on and saddle thrown on havent cinched it up.
Very confident and willing to please. First time he saw a jump and popped over it no worries both cross rails and straight. Can brush all over, still a bit cautious with feet. Very very sweet boy.
Just finished a 5 day panacur worming treatment too and will hopefully squeeze him in for another hoof trim before he goes.
Blank canvas ready to progress further, will excel in a jumping or eventing career, very confident.
We currently don’t have a suitable float for horses so we haven’t tried to float him, we did however have him walking on and off the ramp.
Harry is NOT a fan of dogs, if you dream of riding out with your canine companion by your side this is not the horse for you.
Asking $700 just to cover the cost of gelding and hay/feed/worming for him.
Located Whittlesea
The colts have been healing from gelding the past two weeks and will start to come out and get worked again now.
In the meantime I thought I’d long rein my boy Earl to get him more soft in the mouth and develop some more straightness in his lines whilst I wait for a crupper attachment for our saddle.
Beautiful winters day yesterday for it, a little concerned for summer this year with lack of rainfall!
Little Harry has come a long way in a little under a week.
We can now touch everywhere without kicking or fear and even got a saddle blanket on today.
Dea has been doing some great work with John too! Both the boys have come good in the short time they’ve been here.
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted anything on here!
Times got tough due to covid and I went back to part time work. However I got a message a couple of days ago to help out with some float training, so I thought why not and headed over to Doreen to help out this lovely lady and her horse.
He was quite stubborn with loading and inconsistent, he would get on about halfway before he decided he’d rather plant his feet and stay there.
By the end of it we had him getting on consistently with no hesitation and happily standing in there!
Earl had his first proper trots under saddle on Wednesday! Second proper ride on the boy and very impressed. He felt a little tense at the start but eased up well into it.
Dea and I working on the big boy Kevin. Scheduled to be taken on his first trail ride next Wednesday.
Working on where his legs go and building muscle. Such a sweet boy
Kevin enjoyin the clippers a little too much. Such a funny boy !
Charlotte still looking for her new home!
Due to saddle fit issues, she’s not being ridden regularly as I’d like to avoid pain and discomfort with her.
Bridling work with Earl today, such a quick learner!
Waiting to purchase a new fitted saddle for him and start our ridden journey 💖
Teaching Earl to drop his head to make bridling and haltering that little bit easier.
Even though he’s only little, when he lifts his head up as high as he can, I still struggle to reach 😅
Ahhh yes spring 🌼
We have the red dragon back and a brumby who thinks she’s wild again
Playing around with the new girl on the block, hopefully the weather is better this week and the ground stays dry so I can have a ride.
I like to avoid riding in the wind and rain when possible, but sometimes it has to be done.
My little brumby Missy giving the stamp of approval for Hoof-Magiclay
Smells so good she wanted to eat it, but was a bit upset when told no. Wasn’t going to stop her from trying though!
Bob was a bit cheeky to bridle and unbridled when he first came. We would walk backwards for miles with his head held up and tossing his nose until he accepted the bridle. Unbridling he would quickly jerk his head up and run back and spit the bit out.
Bob’s owners are hoping to use him as apart of their riding program for kids, so ideally we would like kids to be able to bridle him and that’s just out of the question with cheeky habits like that. I’m only 5foot myself and found it quite difficult to bridle him with his head held up.
Now that he has learnt to bridle nicely, we are currently working on dropping his head to bridle and unbridled so that the kids can also do this job!
There’s a little bit in this short video where he tries to evade the bit as I’m unbridling, he pulls his head up. This is nowhere near as bad as what he originally did but it can still be pesky as we don’t want to knock him in the teeth while unbridling - ouchies! At the end of the video he has started to accept dropping and keeping his head low to unbridle. Still lots to work on but pretty happy with his progress.
(Teeth were done and ruled out upon arrival, just a bad habit)
Lots of exposure and miles makes for some nice quiet, sensible horses!
Bob the clydie x brumby. Another one of my favourite client horses I’ve had the pleasure of working with so far. Riding out in some intense weather lately - got caught out in the rain and wind today and returned him with hands so cold they barely functioned.
When he first arrived we couldn’t get a rug on him properly without scaring him to death. Now we conquer riding along side the main road, travelling up bush ect.
Amazing what consistent work and handling can do.
All this wet weather has meant more trailing than flat work, and unfortunately due to lockdown we can’t hire out and make use of the arena.
Love this fella 💪🏽
Taking Bob up the mountain tomorrow, be fun to see how the little dude goes
Go Bob 💖
Clients horse who’s here to come back into work. Been a breeze to bring back into it.
Bob hitting the trails today 💖
Won’t lie I was a little bit impressed. He’s going to be fun 🙄
Very productive day today.
Bob had a ride around the arena at a walk and trot - unfortunately my phone was out of storage to get any footage.
