STAFF PROFILE - Meet our new (feline loving) vet DR SARA JACOBS!

Dr Sara Jacobs graduated from the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Melbourne University in 2014, Dr Sara worked in the UK for a year before returning home to Melbourne.

She has maintained a love for cats since childhood and now enjoys an interest in all aspects of feline medicine, as well as general small animal medicine. Recently she has spent several years in a feline practice especially with rescues and also enjoys working with ethical breeders.

Sara is also very experienced in palliative care, pain management and end of life care as a mobile vet.

Sara has been breeding pedigree Ragdolls since 2018, and has also shown them with success. Her oldest pet Ragdoll Tubby is 17 as of 2025, and has travelled the world with her (pictured).

STAFF PROFILE - Our wonderful groomer HANNAH!

Hannah started working with dogs when she lived in Toronto, Canada in 2014. After returning to Melbourne she learnt how to dog groom in the inner city and spent four years working at a dog grooming salon.
After a break from dog grooming to spend some time travelling and working in different places, she has returned to what she loves doing the most.
Hannah has a Golden Retriever called Molly who is born on Christmas day! She is currently renovating an old bus into a tiny home with her partner. When the bus is finally finished, she hopes to spend more time hiking and camping out in the bush.

Hannah is a very skilled groomer and has the ability to groom all dogs big and small!
We are very lucky to have Hannah in our team!

STAFF PROFILE! - Meet our wonderful junior vet nurse Maddy :)

Maddy has always know that she wanted to work with animals and went into studying veterinary nursing when she finished high school. Throughout her vet nursing studies, Maddy has completed several placements including a placement at a specialist veterinary hospital, one at an an equine hospital and one at Cockatoo Creek Veterinary Clinic!

Maddy is particularly interested in internal medicine in small animals, and working with horses when the opportunity arises. She also endeavours to as further her knowledge in patient care and surgical treatment.

Maddy has a 8 year old Labrador named Izzie and a 15 year old Stockhorse named Teddy. In her spare time, Maddy enjoys horse riding, playing basketball and spending time with family and friends.

Maddy looks forward to seeing all your beloved furry family members when she is in the clinic!

This cute little guy was dropped off to us for some TLC after flying into a car!
Here’s some fun facts about kookaburras that you may not know;
- They are excellent hunters, known to hunt and eat insects, small mammals and even snakes!!
- They live in a close knit family, pairing for life and sharing responsibility of raising their young. Even the older kids help raise the chicks!
- They have amazing eyesight and their very distinct ‘laugh’ is a way to establish their territory.
- They don’t build intrinsic nests, preferring to shelter and nest in tree hollows.
- The females are bigger than the males.
- The name ‘kookaburra’ is believed to originate from the Aboriginal word ‘guuguuberra’ possibly imitating the bird’s distinctive laughing call.

We love kookaburras 💜
