We are a family owned independent mega store. We cater for marine, tropical and coldwater enthusiasts. We hire them for this reason. call us for current rates.

d decision prior to making a purchase. Our staff are all amazing people, with a passion for animals, reptiles, birds or fish. This is not just a job to them, they all actually have animals, reptiles or fish as their hobby or interest outside of work. You will find that our team members are actually excited about their workplace and enthusiastic about passing on their extensive knowledge to you, the customer. We stock an extensive range of products for Dogs, Cats, Birds, Rabbits and Guinea Pigs, Ferrets, Rodents and Reptiles. In fact we stock way too many products to list here. We also have an aquarium section that is over 500 sq. meters, which is larger than most stand alone aquariums. We carry a very impressive aquatic plant display and can boast having staff that are very much qualified in this area. Our aquarium staff have decades of fish keeping experience. We cater to either the high end marine specialists or aquascapers, to the budget fish keeper, with a nano tank. We have a fish vet for back up if we can not answer your queries on disease and we specialise in fixing water issues. We do free water testing and will give you a print out of your results and instructions to help you understand how to fix the issue. We have added a professional grooming salon, open Tuesday to Saturday by appointment, and also have two DIY dog baths for public use, towels are provided. These are indoor in heated / air-conditioned comfort. There is also a pet laundromat coin operated for your convenience. We will do your washing for you, if you wish and the machines are large enough for horse rugs. We also do boarding birds, reptiles and small animals for our customers over long weekends and holidays. as you can see, we are far more than just a pet store... come in and visit and see why we have managed to be around for 30 years..

After 32 years of catering to all types of pets, we have decided to shift our focus to Fish, Reptiles & Invertebrates.
In a decision that has not been made lightly, we will be closing down the animal side of the store... We will be clearing out all of the stock on that side of the store. This will be an only while stocks last sale. So if you're looking for a good deal on some new pet stuff get in quick!
While this is not a complete goodbye, we wish to thank everyone for the continuous support you have shown us over the past 32 years we have been able to serve you. 🥺😢

Even more in between, Love Birds, Budgies and stunning Cockatiels.

However, with Winter arriving the timeframe to introduce our Aviary Birds to your outdoor aviaries is closing. Our birds here are in a climate controlled room, we dont recommend releasing them into an outdoor Aviary mid winter as they can very well have a cold shock.

We have 2 Adult Female Mini lop x Rabbits up for adoption, Both come desexed and vaccinated. Must go as a pair as they are life long friends 🐰🐰. These rabbits aren't suitable for children as they don't like much handling and can be a little jumpy, They are more suited towards adults!

Our Story

Fish and Feather has spent the last 27 years growing to become Melbourne's largest family owned and run independent pet and aquarium store! We started in this industry in 1983 in shopping centres like Doncaster and Northland. We decided to find a place that was big enough to truly showcase what was available in the industry. So after a few locations we found this one and set up our store in 1992. The shop has grown and changed over this time but is still owned and run by Bev Rout, her daughter Naomi and brother Chris who has joined the team again after many years in his own aquarium. Here at Fish And Feather we are very much ethics focused. We will not take short cuts in the care of our animals and we will often refuse a sale if we believe that it is not in the best interest of the animal.

It is also our goal to provide you with a fantastic shopping experience. We want you to be able to come in to our store, not just to make a purchase but to learn what is required prior to you deciding if this animal, fish, reptile or bird is the right choice for you and your family.

We stock the largest range of pet and aquarium products with the staff that have an enviable amount of industry knowledge. They all love a chat and will happily go above and beyond to assist you with your purchase and long after your purchase. To us, it is not just about getting a sale.. it is about creating a relationship with you for many years to come. Where you will feel confident in your purchases and know that we are there to help you, every step of the way. No matter what pets you have. We have the products, services and knowledge to help and advise you. Some of the things that put us a step above the rest include: HEALTH GUARANTEES -Although we do thorough health checks at point of purchase, and feed all of our birds, reptiles and animals on the best diets, sometimes things can go wrong. So our livestock is guaranteed for a minimum of seven days against any disease it may be harbouring. We also guarantee against genetic abnormalities that may not be evident at time of purchase.

LICENCED DEALER -We hold a wildlife dealers licence. So we can stock both licensed and unlicensed birds, amphibians and reptiles.
