Our Story
Fish and Feather has spent the last 27 years growing to become Melbourne's largest family owned and run independent pet and aquarium store! We started in this industry in 1983 in shopping centres like Doncaster and Northland. We decided to find a place that was big enough to truly showcase what was available in the industry. So after a few locations we found this one and set up our store in 1992. The shop has grown and changed over this time but is still owned and run by Bev Rout, her daughter Naomi and brother Chris who has joined the team again after many years in his own aquarium. Here at Fish And Feather we are very much ethics focused. We will not take short cuts in the care of our animals and we will often refuse a sale if we believe that it is not in the best interest of the animal.
It is also our goal to provide you with a fantastic shopping experience. We want you to be able to come in to our store, not just to make a purchase but to learn what is required prior to you deciding if this animal, fish, reptile or bird is the right choice for you and your family.
We stock the largest range of pet and aquarium products with the staff that have an enviable amount of industry knowledge. They all love a chat and will happily go above and beyond to assist you with your purchase and long after your purchase. To us, it is not just about getting a sale.. it is about creating a relationship with you for many years to come. Where you will feel confident in your purchases and know that we are there to help you, every step of the way. No matter what pets you have. We have the products, services and knowledge to help and advise you. Some of the things that put us a step above the rest include: HEALTH GUARANTEES -Although we do thorough health checks at point of purchase, and feed all of our birds, reptiles and animals on the best diets, sometimes things can go wrong. So our livestock is guaranteed for a minimum of seven days against any disease it may be harbouring. We also guarantee against genetic abnormalities that may not be evident at time of purchase.
LICENCED DEALER -We hold a wildlife dealers licence. So we can stock both licensed and unlicensed birds, amphibians and reptiles.
