WILDLIFE VICTORIA......
With consecutive high temperatures forecast in Victoria over the next few days, please be conscious of wildlife.
Just like us, native animals are vulnerable during hot weather and may experience heat stress.
Symptoms of heat stress in wildlife can vary between species. Common symptoms include panting, fanning of wings, and abnormal behaviours such as lethargy and disorientation. Itβs also common for species to take risks in search of fresh water and shade β such as arboreal (tree dwelling) species coming to ground and nocturnal species active during the daytime.
If you see animals exhibiting these behaviours, please call 24/7 Emergency Response Service on 03 8400 7300.
