***Update to Adoption Process***

Hi all and thank you everyone for your continued support of Homeless H**ps. We have now adopted out over 1000 animals since we started the program!

I just wanted to flag a change that we will be making to the adoption process for certain species of animal.

When completing a ballot you may notice a new section for Laboratory Testing. When we receive an animal it is given a full clinical examination but we do not do any laboratory tests. For certain species you will now have the option to indicate if you wish to have testing done (e.g. viral testing, faecal testing) or not. There are additional charges for these tests (the prices will be shown in the ballot form) and are in addition to the adoption fee, however we are offering them at a discounted rate for Homeless H**p animals. These fees will be payable at the same time as the adoption fee is to be paid.

In addition, for Blue-tongue Lizards and Shinglebacks, you will have the option to have their s*x identified using an x-ray technique. This is the most accurate way of determining their correct s*x.

I hope that all makes sense and as always if you have any questions please let us know.

Regards,
Dr Shane Simpson

Homeless H**ps

Each year in Australia many reptiles and amphibians are found as strays (i.e. escaped or dumped pets), seized by wildlife authorities from unlicenced keepers or translocated from their natural range through misadventure (e.g. accidently shipped in goods from interstate). Laws require a licence to keep most species of reptile and amphibian so legally rehoming these lost animals can be problematic. Homeless H**ps is fully licenced by the Victorian Government’s Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning to take in these animals and legally rehome them. All animals are fully vet checked by experienced reptile and amphibian veterinarians from the team at The Unusual Pets Vets - Peninsula. Where possible they are s*xed and microchipped. A small adoption fee is charged to cover the costs involved in housing and microchipping the animals. For all enquiries please contact The Unusual Pet Vets - Peninsula on (03) 8738 3210 or [email protected] We are located at 210 Karingal Drive, Frankston, Victoria, 3199, AUSTRALIA
