Live now on auction are birds being offered by Richard and Son History (Warren Deverneuil) as a kid started racing pigeons with my father Richard Deverneuil in 1982 as Richard & Son. We flew with the Transvaal Homing Union Far East Rand Division in South Africa until 2005.

Immigrated to Australia in 2006 and did not have the appropriately sized property to start up again. As a result only started once I had secured some acreage, Our fist season with The Perth Racing Pigeon Federation was in 2021 starting with 2 pairs of stock birds and 3 race teams purchased of 10 birds each. With further investment into stock birds all through 2021.

Results

First year of flying 2021 - 82nd overall consistency in the PRF

2nd year 2022 - 18th overall consistency in the PRF

3rd year 2023 - 5th overall consistency and 3rd middle distance consistency in PRF

4th year 2024 - 3rd overall consistency and 1st middle distance consistency in PRF

I have managed to breed good progeny from the birds at auction, so as to continue with the success, thus providing me with the ability to reduce my stock numbers over the coming 2 seasons.

Closing tonight on auction are some birds from Kevin Weeks, Croydon Pigeon Club in the GMPF, formally of the Knox club VHA. Downsizing due to health reasons. In the last 21/2 seasons (flying 50 races) has won 22x1st & 12x2nd in a club averaging 17 flyers. Starting with 100 pigeons and being one of the short flyer in the GMPF a total of 30 Fed positions have been achieved, flying mainly up to 400 miles.

LES INTRO

For those who don’t know me my name is Leslie Alexander (Les).

I fly with the strong Dural Club in the CCF.

In 2018 I was diagnosed with a lung disease called “Hypersensitive Pulmonary Pneumonitis”. This condition has been continuing and I have recently commenced treatment with a new drug which hopefully will slow the progression of the disease.

In January 2024 under strict Doctor’s orders, I made the decision to take this year off from racing to (a). take the pressure off myself from the work involved with racing & to reduce exposure to the pigeons as much as possible AND (b). to allow the new drug time to take effect. The thing was that by circa December I had finished breeding my race team for the 2024. I also had a number of old bird’s left over from the previous seasons. I NOW NEED TO REDUCE THE NUMBERS/ RACE & STOCK.

REDUCTION AUCTION 2018

Following my diagnosis I had a Reduction Sale in 2018. A total of 75 lots were Auctioned of which 70 sold. Two of the 5 not sold were gifted to Bob Cole of Liverpool. They went on to breed Bob’s 500ml Mildura winner 1st Club, 1st Section, 3rd Fed CCF the following year. Feedback received since the sale to date, is that (32) and I’m sure there are others, of the birds that found new homes have, or their children have, produced prize winners at Club, Section & Fed level that I know of. This represents a VERY HIGH strike rate.

Note; Details of referenced flyers who have achieved excellent results with my birds can be provided upon request.

This reduction sale of racing & stock birds will be presented in 4 Parts during September 2024. To maintain an interest in the racing scene generally, while taking this season off, I bred several youngsters and placed them with several flyers to race including, Rod Lowe Townsville, Jaie Hosking of the VHA, plus several others flying in the CCF including Dr. Rob Marshall who clocked one of my youngsters 1583 on 23rd August to take 2nd Club in a very challenging 9.5 hour fly from Hay. The 2nd pigeon to Rob’s loft, (1 minute later), was also bred by me for equal 2nd Club. These 2 particular youngsters are bred from my ‘New Laureaat’ Barcelona family & from my ‘Alice Springs’ family. Three of there brothers & sisters are included in this Part 1 Auction; 1521, 2070 & 2072.

Further news from Rod Lowe in Townsville Nth Qld my young Busschaerts Janssen/Busschaert Verhey had been a ‘standout performer’. Over 3 starts to 250ml, was equal 1st twice plus fastest young bird in the prestigious “Three Bird Championship”. Two brothers & sisters are also in this Part 1 Auction, 1516 & 1517.

The Pigeons being sold over this 4 Part Reduction Auction, are bred, ‘directly’ off the actual prize winners OR off the proven “Producers of the Winners”.

GIVE THEM A FAIR GO AND THEY WILL DELIVER THE RESULTS.

As many of you would know I have to move on all my pigeons after my last CT scan revealed that pigeon lung has caused a lot of damage to my lungs. The stock loft is now gone, and the stock birds are going up on the auction sites, I can’t keep any even my favorites, we have had to even send our Amazon parrot elsewhere (which hasn’t made me popular).

The birds might not have fancy names through the pedigrees, but they are honest pigeons and out here in the Central West combine & the old Midwest fed the boundaries cover a massive area along with the Country Challenge which has flyers from Taree down to Tathra across to Wagga and up to Parkes with all the big coastal feds and country clubs in between as well, they have also done well in the John Clay Memorial race which has a huge area of country NSW competing each year.

I’m happy to answer any questions anyone might have on any of them, most of them are distance blood as that is the racing I most enjoy, there are a few imports which I sourced when I had to have a year off a couple of years ago when I moved house which I bred a few for the Blue Hills One Loft as an interest and then most of them have been on loan to another flyer.

It’s going to be bloody hard to see them go, but hopefully they go somewhere they are appreciated and breed winners for their new owners

As such he has bred winners in lofts around Australia. He has flown successfully (VPO & WPF) on and off over the past 15 years due to heavy travel commitments with his work.
