LES INTRO
For those who don’t know me my name is Leslie Alexander (Les).
I fly with the strong Dural Club in the CCF.
In 2018 I was diagnosed with a lung disease called “Hypersensitive Pulmonary Pneumonitis”. This condition has been continuing and I have recently commenced treatment with a new drug which hopefully will slow the progression of the disease.
In January 2024 under strict Doctor’s orders, I made the decision to take this year off from racing to (a). take the pressure off myself from the work involved with racing & to reduce exposure to the pigeons as much as possible AND (b). to allow the new drug time to take effect. The thing was that by circa December I had finished breeding my race team for the 2024. I also had a number of old bird’s left over from the previous seasons. I NOW NEED TO REDUCE THE NUMBERS/ RACE & STOCK.
REDUCTION AUCTION 2018
Following my diagnosis I had a Reduction Sale in 2018. A total of 75 lots were Auctioned of which 70 sold. Two of the 5 not sold were gifted to Bob Cole of Liverpool. They went on to breed Bob’s 500ml Mildura winner 1st Club, 1st Section, 3rd Fed CCF the following year. Feedback received since the sale to date, is that (32) and I’m sure there are others, of the birds that found new homes have, or their children have, produced prize winners at Club, Section & Fed level that I know of. This represents a VERY HIGH strike rate.

This reduction sale of racing & stock birds will be presented in 4 Parts during September 2024. To maintain an interest in the racing scene generally, while taking this season off, I bred several youngsters and placed them with several flyers to race including, Rod Lowe Townsville, Jaie Hosking of the VHA, plus several others flying in the CCF including Dr. Rob Marshall who clocked one of my youngsters 1583 on 23rd August to take 2nd Club in a very challenging 9.5 hour fly from Hay. The 2nd pigeon to Rob’s loft, (1 minute later), was also bred by me for equal 2nd Club. These 2 particular youngsters are bred from my ‘New Laureaat’ Barcelona family & from my ‘Alice Springs’ family. Three of there brothers & sisters are included in this Part 1 Auction; 1521, 2070 & 2072.
Further news from Rod Lowe in Townsville Nth Qld my young Busschaerts Janssen/Busschaert Verhey had been a ‘standout performer’. Over 3 starts to 250ml, was equal 1st twice plus fastest young bird in the prestigious “Three Bird Championship”. Two brothers & sisters are also in this Part 1 Auction, 1516 & 1517.
The Pigeons being sold over this 4 Part Reduction Auction, are bred, ‘directly’ off the actual prize winners OR off the proven “Producers of the Winners”.
