Northern Pacific Seastars might look fascinating, but they’re a real threat to Victorian coastlines. These invasive species have a significant impact on our marine ecosystems, preying on native species and disrupting local biodiversity.

At Melbourne Polytechnic, our Restoration of Aquatic Habitat unit equips students with the knowledge and skills to tackle these challenges. Through a mix of theory and hands-on experience, students explore the complexities of restoration ecology, focusing on how invasive species like the Northern Pacific Seastar disrupt our marine environments and the strategies needed to restore balance.

Apply for one of two Bendigo Community Bank East Ivanhoe – Access and Support Scholarships of $1000.

This scholarship is open to Melbourne Polytechnic students who are about to enrol or who are already enrolled in a course this year (short courses not included).

Who is eligible: Melbourne Polytechnic students living in Heidelberg, West Heidelberg, Rosanna, Macleod, Viewbank, Ivanhoe, Ivanhoe East, Alphington or Fairfield, as well as students enrolling in a course at Heidelberg campus this year.

Applications close 8th of July 2024.
