This Saturday, September 14, The Lost Dogs’ Home will be attending the Casey Pet Expo to talk about pet enrichment and understanding separation anxiety.
Our behaviour team will also do a nose work demonstration for you to try at home. Engaging in nose work helps keep dogs mentally healthy while they're waiting for homes.
We hope you can join us for the stage talks as these topics are so important for improving the health and wellbeing of your furry friends.
Casey Pet Expo is a FREE event so we hope to see you there!

On behalf of all the team at The Lost Dogs’ Home, Miss Posey would like to get in first and wish all our wonderful supporters and their doggos, a very happy International Dog Day for tomorrow, Monday August 26th.
We also wanted to remind you that tomorrow is the last day for our Half Price, Full Love adult dog adoptions campaign where all our adult dogs have their adoption fees reduced by 50 per cent.
Both our North Melbourne and Cranbourne shelters will be open until 5.30 on Monday and we are hoping to find homes for as many doggos as possible.
So lets make this International Dogs Day a really happy one for our shelter pets who are waiting patiently, just like Miss Posey here, for their happily ever after.

When we first met Atticus he couldn’t stand up on his own, let alone walk. Our vet team and his foster mum Jamie gave him round the clock care to help him feel better and get stronger and now Atticus is able to stand up all by himself and go for short walks!
We are blown away by the progress Atticus is making and we know that you love Atticus as much as we do so we want to say a big thank you to everyone who has shown him so much love and support over the last few weeks.
#TheLostDogsHome
After being dumped on a hard waste pile weighing just 12 kilos Atticus weighed in at 20 kilos this week and took his first walk. He is set on fast tracking his progress but it’s baby steps for this gorgeous boy. We are right here bringing you his milestones as we know how much you guys love this boy. Thank you to everyone who has reached out. It means the world to us.
Look who has found his voice again! Atticus has spent his first 72 hours in a row without requiring veterinary assistance and surprised his foster mum Jamie when he started chatting like any other dog. ’’He barks when he needs to go toilet, when he wants a treat, cuddle or just when someone is walking past outside, His progress is nothing short of miraculous,’’ says Jamie. ‘’I honestly think he feels all the love we have given him and all the love out in the community.’’ Atticus still has a few milestones to achieve before we start looking for his permanent home but for now he will spend his time in between our vet hospital and in foster with his new best friend Ernie. Thank you to everyone who continues to ask about our special boy. We will continue to keep you updated. #TheLostDogsHome
Hi everyone, it’s me Atticus. I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for all your concern about me. My foster mum Jamie read me all the beautiful messages about me and it really made me so happy knowing I have so many new friends out there. As you know I was very sick when I came to the Home but all my friends here love me so much and that is the best feeling I have ever felt.I am getting a little bit stronger every day and although I have a little way to go until I am ready to find my forever home, I am happy now because the world looks like a much nicer place with so many friends. I have to go take a nap now and I will sleep knowing love does truly exist. Talk soon. Love Atticus. For more information on Atticus’ story, head to dogshome.com #TheLostDogsHome

Meet our beauty queen Elizabeth Taylor! At just six months old Elizabeth has been searching for her forever home for more than 60 days. Elizabeth has waited so patiently and can’t understand why no one has taken her home yet. Elizabeth is a bit shy at first but once she gets to know you, she’ll be the best friend you’ve ever had, she’s also looking to be the only cat in the home. She loves a chin scratch and loves her treats. Elizabeth has stolen the hearts of everyone here at the Home and we would love nothing more than to see this beautiful girl in her forever home by the weekend. Here at our shelters we are facing a super surge of puppies.
What that means is that puppies arriving on our door step have increased by more than 115% in just two years with figures tracking for another record-breaking year when it comes to our smallest of furry friends.
It’s with the help of our foster care network that we are able to safely nurture these pups to good health and place them in a forever home where they will live happy and healthy lives.
But we now need more wonderful foster carers to join our team!
We also need foster carers for our adult dogs, cats and of course our teeny weeny kittens!
Just like Girlie here who spent time in foster growing strong and healthy, we need your help to make that possible for all the other pups coming into the shelter.
Together, we can turn the lives around to pups like these that have had a rough start to life.
So, if you can help us please jump on to dogshome.com and follow the link to apply!

Yesterday on day 1 of our Adopt A Footy Mate campaign, where adult cats are $55 and kittens $95, we adopted 25 beautiful cats and kittens!
Thank you to everyone for a great start to our month long campaign focusing on our feline friends!
Today we want to turn our attention to our adult cats who can be overlooked at times for their smaller counterparts, our little kittens.
Our adult cats are so amazing and we have so many gorgeous personalities that would love to be your footy mate this season and forever.
One of the best things about adopting an adult cat is they are much more chilled out than little ones and will happily hang out with you while you cheer your favourite team on the telly.
So please come along and meet all of our adult footy mates at our North Melbourne and Cranbourne shelters!

Bertie is here to remind you that although the summer months will soon be drawing to a close, kitten season will be with us for quite some time yet.
What that means is that shelters just like ours at The Lost Dogs’ Home will continue to be stretched as we do everything in our power to find homes for cuties like Bertie.
Currently we have more than 700 felines in our care and in foster.
We know how much you love helping our animal so here’s a few things you can do to help!
1. Get your kittens/cats desexed – this will dramatically reduce cat homelessness.
2. Adopt where possible
3. Sign up as a foster carer
