Earlier this week we introduced you to Archer, our 12 year old boy who absolutely adored cuddles and we’re so happy to tell you he’s been adopted!

Archer’s new mum Lila tells us he’s settling in well, “he’s a very affectionate boy and loves kisses. He’s explored every inch of the house and has been loving sitting on the window sills observing the world going by.”

We’re so happy for Archer and Lila and wish them the best life ever.

127 days is too long to go without a forever home but that’s how long Jet has been waiting.

Three year old Jet came to the Home in October after his family was no longer able to take care of him. Jet was a little nervous and shy when we first met him but as soon as he realised he was safe he showed us his goofy personality.

Jet truly lives up to his name, he loves to zoom around the yard and is full of energy! Jet would do best in a home where he is the only dog and due to this big bouncy boy not knowing his size, he will need to be in a home with adults only.

If you think you can give this lovely boy the forever home he’s been patiently waiting for please head into our North Melbourne shelter anytime during opening hours to meet him.

For today's 'Hearts of the Home' we want to introduce you to Taylor.

Taylor is a behaviour trainer at our Cranbourne shelter, she has been working at the Home for 3 years and 2 of those have been with the behaviour team. Taylor spends her days assessing our dogs and helping them find the best possible homes. Taylor and the behaviour team also work with the vet and shelter staff to provide additional support and training for some dogs who are struggling with shelter life.

Taylor loves her job, she tells us "I love helping dogs find their confidence and find their perfect home, it's wonderful seeing updates of dogs living their best lives in their forever homes."

"Working at The Lost Dogs' Home is the best decision I've made, I leave work every day with a smile on my face feeling like I've made a difference", she tells us.

Taylor was inspired to get into behaviour training when she adopted her dog, Ollie. "I thought to myself, what can I do to make his life better? That's when I began looking into behaviour training."

"I came for the animals and stayed for the people, everyone has the same goal, we just want what's best for every animal who walks through the doors", Taylor tells us.

Thank you to Taylor and the behaviour team for all of their hard work.

Introducing Leopold, our 11 month old boy with 3 legs.

Leo came to the Home in December with a badly injured leg, our team decided in order for Leo to live his best life we would need to amputate it. After lots of TLC from our team while he recovered, Leo is still learning how to live life on 3 legs but we think he’s doing a great job!

Leo is a super smoochy boy, he loves his humans and his pats, he would gladly sit there all day while you gave him a chin scratch! If you think you can give this beautiful boy the forever home he’s been searching for, please head into our North Melbourne shelter to meet him today.

Hei Hei is a big, loveable boy who loves to run around and play and most of all, loves his cuddles. Hei Hei loves his people and also likes other dogs so he wouldn’t mind going home with another dog friend pending a successful meet and greet.

It’s easy to see why this big, goofy boy has stolen the hearts of everyone who works at our Cranbourne shelter, he loves everyone he meets and especially loves his treats.

If you can give this lovely boy the home he deserves please head into our Cranbourne shelter today to meet him.

Can we just take a moment of your time to introduce you to this little delight Remondis!

Remondis came into the shelter after having to be rescued from a dumpster bin by a local CFA. This little guy was so desperate for food that he had put his head through a hole into the bin and needed to be cut out of it. When he came into the shelter he was dreadfully scared and rather shut down.

Fast forward to now and Remondis is a new man. He's a sweet little guy who loves a scritchy scratch around his head and ears and will roll around for love and attention. He loves the company of other cats and would LOVE to find a home with a feline friend to help make him feel more secure in his new home.

After a rough start to life he can still be jumpy with fast movements so will need a home with people who are patient and willing to let him get to know you. He may never be a lap cat but he enjoys pats and loves to play hunting games with his special feather toys.

If you think you might be able to give Remondis the safe, secure home that he so deserves please pop into The Cranbourne Lost Dogs’ Home to meet him today!

Today for our ‘Hearts Of The Home’ we’d like to introduce you to Hayley. Hayley is our pathways coordinator and she’s worked at the Home for 7 years. It wasn’t long before Hayley found her place with the foster team and has been working with them for the last 4 years.

Hayley and the foster team work hard to get lots of animals out into foster homes every day. Animals can go into foster care for many different reasons. Sometimes it can be to recover from surgery, or to help build up an animals confidence and sometimes it’s just to give an animal a break from shelter life.

Hayley herself is a foster carer and has fostered 263 animals while working with us! She told us her favourite was her first foster fail, Sven. “He made me so passionate about fostering, I visited him everyday in the shelter before I started fostering him, and I just fell in love. He would help look after the fosters I would bring home.”

Hayley loves her job and loves working with our amazing foster carers. “I love seeing the kids get involved and seeing them be passionate about animal welfare at such a young age,” she tells us.

We’re always looking for new foster carers and rescue partners to work with, especially at our Cranbourne shelter so head to dogshome.com to sign up now and if you’re a rescue please email [email protected]

Thank you to Hayley and our foster team for their incredible work.

Update: Motley has been adopted!

Eight year old Motley came into our care in November after his family were no longer able to take care of him.

Motley has just celebrated his 8th birthday with us in the shelter and he told us his birthday wish is to find his forever home. We can’t understand why Motley is still here, he’s the sweetest boy who loves to explore a yard and have a good snooze.

Motley is the perfect fit for anyone looking for an independent, laid-back, very handsome boy. He would prefer to be the only dog in the home so that he can get all the love (and treats) you have to give!

As much as we love looking after Motley, we know the best place for him is in his forever home, so if you think you can give this boy the home he deserves please head down to our Cranbourne shelter and meet him today.

12 year old Missy has been in our care for 120 days and we’re hoping you can help us find her a forever home.

Missy came to the Home back in October after her family was no longer able to take care of her, Missy is a sweet lady who is hoping to find a quiet retirement home with lots of comfy spots for her to nap in. Despite her age, Missy is quite a healthy gal and doesn’t have any medical conditions detected by our incredible vet team.

Missy has so much love to give and we’d love nothing more than to see this special girl in her forever home as soon as possible.

Angus has been loving his new life, he sleeps in Jack’s bed every night and absolutely loves his 2 walks a day.
