🦆💗 These adorable little ducklings were brought into our clinic after some good samaritans found them wandering the streets! They spent time looking for a mother duck but had no luck. These little ones are now safe with a wildlife carer! 💗🦆

Please make sure if you ever find any young wild birds that you take the time to see if there is a mother around, as that gives them the best chances of survival!

☀️ It's getting HOT out there! Let's keep our furry friends safe! 🐾

With rising temperatures over the next few days, our pets need a little extra care to stay cool and comfy:

🐕 Hydration is key! Make sure fresh, clean water is always available.
🐾 Avoid the midday heat. Walk your dogs early in the morning or late in the evening.
☂️ Shade is their best friend. If they're outside, ensure there's a cool spot to rest.
🔥 Check the pavement. The hot ground can burn paws—test with your hand for 5 seconds if it's too hot for you it is too hot for them.
🚗 NEVER leave them in a car. Even with windows cracked, it can turn deadly fast.
🦎 Put a stick in a bowl of water for wildlife, ensuring they can safely access water without getting stuck.
👩‍🦳 Check on your elderly relatives and friends and make sure they are keeping cool in the heat

🌿🐾 Grass Seeds and Your Dog's Health: What You Need to Know!🐾🌿

As we head into the warmer months, many of us are enjoying outdoor playtime with our pups. But did you know that grass seeds, while harmless to us, can be a real hazard for your dog?

🌱 What’s the Risk?
These tiny, barbed seeds can easily get stuck in your dog's fur, paws, ears, nose and mouth. If left untreated, they can cause serious infections and discomfort. In some cases, may even travel into the skin or deeper tissues which may require surgical intervention.

🚨 Signs Your Dog Might Be Affected:

-Excessive licking or chewing of paws
-Pawing at their face or ears
-Redness, swelling, or discharge around eyes/ears
-Sneezing, coughing, or unusual sniffing

💡 Prevention Tips:

-Regularly check your dog’s paws after walks or outdoor play.
-Keep them out of tall, weedy grass areas, especially during peak growing seasons.
-Trim any long fur that could trap seeds.
-If you spot a seed stuck, don’t try to remove it yourself—take your dog to the vet for safe removal.

Everyone meet Nero! Nero’s parents noticed he wasn’t his normal self, he was lethargic and not interested in eating they decided to bring him to us. We examined him and noticed he had a very high temperature and was very lethargic, Nero was admitted to the hospital for a blood test, IV fluids and medications to help him feel better. After a few hours, his blood results came back with a high white cell count which means he had an infection! On examination, we noticed Nero had some bizarre lumps under his armpit and in between his back legs. Nero was referred to the team at Casey Pet Emergency for further workup overnight and surgery to have the lumps biopsied. The team at emergency made sure he was comfortable and performed surgery, where they carefully removed the two lumps and sent them off to be examined by a pathologist. Nero had a special drain called a Jackson Pratt drain, which has a bulb on the end that allows it to drain and be measured. Nero continued to be monitored with regular visits at DVH, once we were happy the drains could be removed with lots of kisses and cuddles Nero had them removed. (As pictured in the reel). Thankfully the results showed the lumps weren't cancerous and were in fact inflammation under the skin caused either by a bacteria or foreign object.
