Swipe to see an amazing before and after transformation! 🦷✨ This brave dachshund had severe dental disease, infecting most of his teeth and spreading right through the bone into his nose! The best treatment was for Dr. Vicky to remove most of his teeth and clean out the deep seated infection within the surrounding bone. Can you guess how many teeth he has left?....

For this brave sausage he still has another dental procedure further down the line to remove a few more sore teeth and then he’ll enjoy a permanent pain free mouth! ❤️🐾

🎉🐾 Remember Cuddle? 🐾🎉

We are over the moon to share that Cuddle has officially graduated from FIP treatment!

Until only two years ago, this disease was fatal in 100% of patients. Now, with new anti-virals discovered through COVID-19 research - it is curable almost 100% of time!

Cuddles has been a brave and tolerant boy throughout his 5 months of treatment. A huge shoutout to his incredibly dedicated family, and Dr. Vicky for spear-heading his early diagnosis and treatment. 🌟🙌

Let's all celebrate this amazing milestone and the bright, healthy future ahead for our little hero! 🎊💖

Ear infections in dogs are incredibly painful, and often continue to happen again, and again. This was the case with poor little Noori, who couldn’t shake these awful infections and had developed lumps growing down her ears.

Ear lateral resections can very much be a relief for chronic cases, where regular treatments are struggling. It's a specific surgical care approach we reserve for these stubborn ear issues to help these pets finally find relief and comfort.

Pictured is Dr. Mohit performing the procedure with our CO2 laser, to help give Noori the most comfortable recovery. You can also see one of the lumps that was growing deep in Noori’s ear canal. And of course, Noori herself rocking her goggles for her post-treatment photo-therapy! 🐾💕

Wilson celebrated his birthday poolside – but not necessarily ready to swim! With a determined wag of his tail, he made it clear that even on his special day, he had his own agenda. 🎉🐾💦
Proving that being a water-loving Labrador doesn't mean diving in without a second thought… Have you ever met a Labrador who doesn’t like water! Wilson's cautious approach reminds us to embrace our individual quirks, even when our breed calls us to the water's edge!

We applaud Wilson’s brave efforts! Our pool is available for all dogs through booking online, feel free to give it a go like Wilson did! Generally most dogs aren’t too confident on their first attempt, so coming in a few times to build their confidence and get rid of those nerves in small increments is recommended!

😱 What do you do when your dog’s ear infections just NEVER seem to end⁉️

✨ Meet Keke, a courageous Corgi who suffered with a sore ear for many years despite countless vet visits. Her ear just never seemed to get better! 🐶 She came to us to see Dr. Vicky for an extremely sore neck, which we believe may be secondary to chronic head shaking due to her ongoing sore ear!

Keke is NOT a fan of her ear being touched, so it’s difficult for her family to medicate it. We managed her initially through rest and pain relief for her neck, and of course some medication for her very resistant and persistent ear infection!

⁉️ But what can we do to try to help her long term ⁉️

Well, once Keke’s ear infection had cleared as much as possible, we did a lateral wall resection - performed under anesthetic with our CO2 laser 👏
This is a procedure where we remove the outer wall of the ear canal to improve ventilation and make the ear a less desirable environment for bacteria and fungus to grow.
Frequently with chronic inflammation, the ear canal will narrow with scar tissue and inflammation, so this procedure helps to open it all up again.

Whilst it doesn’t stop infections, it makes them happen less often and they become easier to treat.
Keke recovered well, wearing her cone for three weeks after her procedure.
✨ Well done Keke ✨

✨🐶 Meet Milly, the courageous 13-year-old toy poodle who was hindered by medial shoulder instability. This issue started when she was born, as she is SO tiny her shoulder joint never formed properly. 😔

As she grew older and developed arthritis, her muscles began to atrophy away.. Unfortunately, following a simple slip at the groomer, she dislocated her shoulder and despite all efforts, her shoulder wouldn’t go back into the socket 😱
Milly had specialist surgery with us to restabilize her shoulder.
✨ Despite the setbacks, Milly's spirit remained undaunted. With dedicated care and a successful surgery journey with us, Milly has slowly reclaimed her mobility and independence.Witness her beautiful transformation from a moment of struggle to the triumph of walking again! 🐾

⁉️ DID YOU KNOW⁉️ Your canine companions have a higher chance of suffering from a fatal condition known as bloat 😱. In deep chested breeds, this condition can lead to their stomachs doing a complete 360 on themselves, cutting off their own blood supply!
It is fatal without emergency surgery.

🐾 Follow Bebi, our Clinic standard Poodle 🐩 along for his preventative surgery to minimize his risk of this condition.
Watch as he undergoes what’s known as a gastropexy, a vital procedure in preventing a life-threatening condition called gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), commonly known as "bloat." 🚑 But what exactly is a gastropexy, and why is it so important?

🔍 Gastropexy involves surgically uniting the stomach with the abdominal wall, which significantly reduces the risk of the stomach twisting abnormally. In GDVs, the stomach fills with gas and twists on itself, cutting off blood flow and leading to tissue death. It's not just uncomfortable; it's a surgical emergency.

🛡️ By performing a gastropexy, we're essentially "anchoring" the stomach in place, preventing it from flipping and reducing the likelihood of GDV. This procedure is especially recommended for deep-chested breeds, who are more prone to GDV.

Gatropexies are a preventative procedure preformed to enhance the quality of life for our furry friends and their owners. Through the use of the Endoscope at Vetland, we are able to do this life-changing procedure with minimal invasiveness.
Traditionally, Gastropexies involve making a large incision up the patients midline, resulting in a large surgical wound. The Endoscope allows us to preform this procedure through a small incision on the flank, resulting in a quicker recovery time, and most importantly less pain.

For more on Gastropexies, check out this blog post by Dr. Vicky Wade.

OUCH! Check out Shepley's jaw-dropping before and after! 🐾

Can you guess what caused this damage? Yep, you guessed it - a stick!

Thankfully there were minimal fragments stuck inside this open wound. These fragments can be quite nasty and cause abscesses or foreign body reactions, so we were sure to flush the wound thoroughly.

Shepley made a great recovery, and is back to playing! A friendly reminder to all dog parents to encourage your dogs to play with dog safe toys!
This could be chew toys, frisbees or even ropes! Sticks can be quite a dangerous choice due to the risk of dogs injuring themselves, them getting stuck in their mouth, or even in some cases swallowing them!

Stick around for more unbelievable transformations! 😉🌟 'sStickStory

Have you ever seen the doggy version of braces?!

Meet Nelson, and his crown extensions! At a routine growth check, Nelson’s canine teeth were growing in the wrong direction, en route to give him loads of pain when they fully erupted.

Dr. Vicky devised a plan to ‘tip’ his teeth outwards into a more normal direction by extending their height with dental composites (fillings)! After a few weeks - success! And the crowns were finally able to be removed!

With those crown extensions off and his canines right where they should be, he’s back to chasing tennis balls with a pain-free mouth! 🎾🌟

🐾 Beau's MASSive Mass removal! 🐾

Dr. Miranda joined us here at Vetland for this massive procedure, where pet care meets cutting-edge technology. When a small bump turned into a looming mass, our team, led by the skilled hands of Dr. Miranda and Dr. Vicky rallied to Beau's side to remove the massive lump.

With precision and care, they tackled the massive challenge, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment like the CO2 laser to ensure Beau's well-being, ensuring a speedy recovery and less trauma to the surgery site. What started as a mere anomaly became a giant mass, reminding us of the importance of checking in on all those little lumps and bumps on our furry friends.

Mere hours after his procedure, Beau was walking it off like a champion!. 💪🐾

🐾Meet Bagel, the brave little Labrador Retriever pup at just 3 months old! Dr. Vicky consulted with Bagel for a second opinion regarding his unusual teeth. . 😬🦷

It turns out, Bagel has been a bit too enthusiastic with his chewing and had snapped his top two baby canine teeth! 🐶💔Another surprise - his bottom canine teeth are growing in the wrong place, causing his sharp little tooth to dig into his gum and create a hole in the roof of his mouth each time he closes it. Ouch!

Removal of fragile baby teeth is challenging at the best of times, however at only 3 months old, Bagel of course needed extra care and attention.

Dr. Vicky carefully removed these troubling teeth to resolve Bagel’s pain, and protect his developing adult teeth. 🐕

Bagel will be monitored closely when his adult teeth start to come through, in case they have been damaged from infection or also are following the wrong path of growth.

Meet Maddie! 🐾

She was brought to our hospital because she hasn’t been eating for days. Our team recommended an ultrasound to fully see what’s happening internally.

Ever wonder how ultrasound works for your fur babies?

The Ultrasonographer device emits high-frequency sound waves that pe*****te the body and create real-time images of internal organs and tissues.

This is often recommended by vets during your pet's physical examination if they notice swelling in or near the abdomen, discomfort when touching the abdomen or other internal areas, or a mass or lump in the abdomen, kidney, or liver. It's also commonly used to monitor the progress of your pet's pregnancy!

In Maddie's case, it was to find out the reason for her inappetence. We are so glad that the result was normal and that she’s recovering well! 🌟

Xiao Hua's smile slowly faded because of a rare immune condition known as Feline Gingivostomatitis. This is a horrifically painful condition causing severe pain and erosion of the gums. 😬

🦷 Thanks to early recognition and meticulous care and treatment, this sweet puss is finally free of pain! The only treatment for this condition is complete removal of the cheek teeth, but luckily many cats are still able to keep their incisors and canine teeth. Over a delicate procedure, Dr. Vicky, our tooth fairy 🧚 completed Xiao Hua’s surgery, having her home in time for dinner. 😺

Cats are pretty good at hiding pain, so watch for these signs in your own feline companions! 🔍

☑️ Red, sore-looking gums
☑️ A bad smell from the mouth
☑️ Their gums pulling back, making their teeth appear longer
☑️ Seeming uncomfortable or flinching when you touch their face

But remember, many signs of dental disease are subtle and easily missed. Routine dental checks are essential for the prevention of dental diseases, and general mouth health!

Consultations with our very own Dr. Vicky are easy to book online, with weekday and weekend appointments available. 🐱
