It's been a busy time here over Christmas, but we just love looking after all the special Cats that come for visits.

Sadly we are saying goodbye to one of our wonderful caring workers and as a result the Cattery is now looking for someone to work in a long term, part-time role.

This will mainly involve working morning shifts on the weekends, but there will also be the opportunity for some weekday mornings as well.

It's been pretty quiet here over the past few months, but finally Melbourne and Regional Victoria are coming back to life.

Christmas break is only 60 days away so now is a great time to plan your holiday.

Places are filling fast in the Cattery over the Christmas / New Year period so don't forget to get in quick with your booking.

Today is International Cat Day

This is ‘Podge’, the family cat of Tasmanian photographer HJ King. Pet cats bring lots of joy and comfort to our lives, but as cat owners we have a responsibility to our cats, our community and our environment.

QVMAG recently participated in a pilot study that showed feral cats collected from one Tasmanian farm had killed bettongs, possums, bandicoots, pademelons, skinks and native birds.

Ideally cats should be kept indoors or securely fenced outdoors. An indoor only cat has a longer lifespan and does not have a negative impact on local wildlife. Cat snuggles are also good for your health with studies showing that spending time with your cat has a relaxing effect and reduces blood pressure.
