Just returned from the most incredible experience — a 7-day trail ride through parts of the Victorian High Country with Watsons Mountain Country Trail Rides.

We rode to the iconic location of Craig’s Hut, visited some historic landmarks, camped out under the stars and canvas most nights, stayed at one of the many historic cattleman’s hut - Lovick’s Hut, rode right up to The Bluff, rode among the snow gums, viewed the jump scene from the movie Man From Snowy River at Kate Cameron’s Peak, and cantered along the Howqua River. The scenery and panoramic views was breathtaking and something I’ll never forget.

The Watson family and team are some of the most genuine people you could meet — true horse people through and through. The horses were absolutely outstanding, carefully and confidently placing every step across steep, rocky, and jagged terrain with the utmost care.

An unforgettable adventure.

Many of you have heard me say this 😄

The most underrated safety aid in jumping isn’t a body protector. It’s the mane!

Holding the mane:
– keeps you with the horse
– keeps you out of your horse's way when jumping
– removes pressure from the mouth
– stops the panic grab
– stabilises you in surprises
– prevents 90% of avoidable falls

And no, it’s not “cheating.”
It’s smart riding!

Practice holding on to your horse's mane the last couple of strides before the jump and over the fence, it will change your life!
