Royal Park Riding Academy is a small riding school nestled in the Swan Valley established in 2012. It is owned and operated by Monique Caddies ("Moo"). Monique has been riding both recreationally and competitively for the past 31 years. Her riding experience covers a variety of disciplines including dressage, eventing, show jumping, vaulting, track work, bush racing, gymkhana games, barrel racing,

showing, in-hand and cattle/station work. Her fort-ay however is eventing with a focus on dressage. Monique taught riding and vaulting at Riding for the Disabled for 20 years. Monique also taught at Swan Valley Pony Club. Though Monique enjoys and specializes in teaching children. Monique is also a qualified vet nurse, so is happy to share he medical knowledge. She also would like to start her EA qualifications. She has regular lessons herself with classical dressage instructor, Anita Budgeon, Katrin Kuenstler and lessons with various other jumping instructors. She has a small herd of horses who are all very well cared for, educated, compete and are schooled regularly. They are quiet but responsive and are most importantly - SAFE!!! Lessons are $65- flat rate max 4 riders. Half hour lessons are $45. All lessons include horse care as riders are expected to catch and tack up their own horse (under guidance of course!!!)

Lessons are available every day and are booked in on a weekly or fortnightly basis. There is no joining fee and lessons are paid for each week. So no term fee (we do have a $25 cancellation without 48 hours notice)

We also do camps, gymkhana days, show days and clinics. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT DUE TO OUR HORSES WORKLOAD OUR WEIGHT LIMIT IS 75KGS

It’s our 12th BIRTHDAY! 12 long happy years!

I remember taking this photo, 12 years ago; today. It was freezing but all things were finalised, it was offical- we became a riding school. It was early, so we celebrated with orange juice in our bubbles!
What an incredible journey we’ve had! We’ve been blessed with meeting unique, kind, beautiful people. We’ve made many lifelong friendships. Worked with many wonderful horses. Started careers. Ignited passions and shared ours. We’ve shifted homes. Made warm, beautiful memories at both. We’ve grown! Oh boy have we grown from the 3 horses and handful of students. We’ve welcomed coaches, hosted clinics, camps, events, big trips away.

I personally couldn’t have done it without the support of my husband, who is my rock. He now just rolls his eyes and works out how we will fit in …just …one …more. And my family… they’ve been so patient with me. But most importantly we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for our beautiful students and families. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Here are some photos from our horse wedding held at our Intermediate camp. Vegas and Dexter were chosen to be the happy couple. Ice officiated the ceremony whilst Moe was best man with Jimmy, Maid of Honour! Valentine was the flower girl and Whisky entrusted with the rings which were hung on the horses ears once hitched. The other horses were dressed up as guests. It was a happy occasion with the honeymoon postponed til the Summer… wedding bliss will have to wait. Right now, we’ve got our Advanced Camp.

To our valued Royal Park family,

We regret to inform you of a change in our price policy. With the increasing cost of maintenance and horse upkeep, we have decided not to increase our fees in 2024, but will as of July, (Term 3) require full payment for any missed lessons. We understand this may cause difficulties for some. If this change presents a hardship, please contact me to discuss your situation.

1/2 hour will remain at $50
A full hour will remain at $70
Theory will be raised to $50 (and will be at least an hour long)
If the opportunity arises for private lessons, they shall incur an extra $25.

Good morning! (Sound on! 😉)

All part of the morning ritual… these two are at it, playing for hours.

Prepare for our upcoming gymkhana! Riders will be organized into groups based on their abilities. They'll kick off with a hack-style "rider" class, where their riding skills take the spotlight. No strict dress code here—just keep it neat and tidy with a sleeved shirt. Riders will then be able to participate in a number of events, in any order where their score will be recorded. After lunch, riders will be offered a second opportunity to participate in a variety of games like the egg and spoon race or the classic sack race. Again, there’s no need for formal attire or extra practice; this is all about having fun in a safe and encouraging environment. Riding times will be announced on Sunday, May 19th, so riders can plan accordingly. We kindly ask everyone to arrive half an hour before their class in case we're ahead of schedule. Family, friends, and spectators are encouraged to join in the excitement. If any parents are willing to volunteer for scoring or timing, we'd be immensely grateful. Pack a picnic, grab your camp chairs, and get ready to soak up the day. We'll have refreshing drinks and delicious pulled pork or Mexican beef rolls available for purchase—just remember to bring cash. At the end of the day, we'll celebrate with presentations, handing out plenty of ribbons and prizes. We hope all our riders stick around to cheer on their fellow participants and claim their well-deserved rewards. We're eagerly anticipating this event and can't wait to share it with you all. Today was the most insane wind I’ve ever taught in! Absolute testament to my fabulous ponies! What troopers. Not one put a hoof wrong. So grateful! ❤️

Remember the pony who was having too much fun at our gymkhana and didn’t want to go home? Well, he stayed to practice his loading skills. What a champ! Look at him now! 🙂 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Shame his owners can now load him up and take him home. He’s such a cool dude- we want to keep him! 😂
