The Sunraysia area is experiencing large volumes of parvo affected patients. With over 15 cases in the last couple of weeks presented to our clinic alone, passing our total number of cases for 2023.

WHAT IS PARVOVIRUS?
Canine parvovirus is a highly contagious virus that is spread from dog to dog by direct or indirect contact with infected faeces.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN SYMPTOMS OF PARVOVIRUS?
Lethargy
Loss of appetite
Vomiting
Bloody diarrhoea

HOW IS PARVOVIRUS TREATED?
Fluid replacement (IV drip), antibiotics, nausea control and pain relief. Patients need to remain in isolation until they are no longer infectious. The recovery process can be long and treatment is expensive. There are no home remedies.

HOW TO PREVENT PARVOVIRUS?
It’s simple, VACCINATE!
Make sure your puppy/dog is FULLY vaccinated and stays up to date with it’s yearly vaccine.
Until such time as your puppy/ dog is fully vaccinated, avoid public areas.

The Sunraysia region is seeing a surge in parvovirus cases among dogs.

WHAT IS PARVOVIRUS?
Parvovirus is a highly contagious disease that spreads through direct or indirect contact with infected f***s.

SYMPTOMS TO WATCH FOR:

Lethargy

Loss of appetite

Vomiting

Bloody diarrhea

Drooling

TREATMENT:
Treatment involves IV fluids, antibiotics, anti-nausea medication, and pain relief. Infected dogs must be isolated until they are no longer contagious. Recovery can be lengthy and costly, and there are no at-home treatments.

PREVENTION:
Vaccination is the best protection!

Ensure your puppy or dog is fully vaccinated and stays up to date with annual boosters.

Avoid taking unvaccinated puppies or dogs to public areas.

Protect your furry friends—don’t delay their vaccinations!

I feel in need to put this post up due to no shows and short notice cancellations.
I have had to make a stand recently due to a number of no shows on appointments.

Weather is warming up and the phone is running hot. People are needing their dogs groomed.
* I do everything within my power to set up the appointment with reminders. I provide you with a message and screenshot of the calendar event to confirm your appointment.

* It is your responsibility to have your settings working correctly otherwise you will not get reminders one day and one hour before the appointment.

* It is your responsibility to put the appointment in your calendar once we have agreed on an appointment date and time. All I can do is send you confirmation via phone message.

* It is your responsibility to check our phone message communications to make sure you have the correct date and time of the appointment.

Question- Does regular dry food clean dogs teeth?
Answer- No

That’s like saying dry biscuits clean human teeth. And while there are dry options prescribed for dogs dental health, they’re still highly processed.

Question- So how can we preserve our dogs pearly whites?
Answer- Yes
* Regular brushing Or Single-protein dental chews (no artificial colours preservatives or flavours).
And a balanced fresh food diet

Recently we have had a harrowing time with our senior dogs latest health issues. For a while my gut churned as we thought we may loose him.
Thank you to Mildura Veterinary Hospital for their support and care as well offering to trialing a medication. It has made all the difference to the quality of life of our senior little man.
I have also been looking at change of diet.
I would be very interested in hearing from you, my followers on your experiences and or both good and bad lessons learned.

Can you see the difference in weight placement with too long of nails vs trimmed nails? This is why trimming your dog’s nails is so important. (At least every 2-3 weeks) I hear a lot, that people don’t trim their dog’s claws because they are afraid of cutting the quicks. And while cutting the quicks is obviously not what we want, not trimming your dog’s nails will cause more harm in the long run. Dogs with too long of nails are in pain when they walk. They usually end up putting their weight on the back end of their feet to try and relieve some of the pressure on their nails. Can you imaging walking on your toenails? Please, for your dog’s health, cut or dremel their nails regularly ❤️. As soon as I trimmed her nails, she started holding her feet underneath her more and was acting much more relaxed. Where before even when walking she kept her legs more in front. 

Yes these pics are absolutely of the same dog. One is of the right front foot the other the left front cause I forgot what foot I was trying to take an after pic of lol. Also the nails trimmed one is after the bath and blow dry so the hair is more fluffed up in that pic. Her left leg was also trimmed down for an IV several months ago so the feathering is less on that leg. (This last section is for all the people that are quickly judging this, and saying they’re not the same dog when they definitely are 🤣)
