Showtime has begun!! These 2 little Gents had a ball competing at Clifton show on the weekend. So good seeing the kids out & about again.

Thankyou to West Toowoomba Pony Club for hosting a great weekend.

3 lovely members Peyton, Tavay & Bella competed in Showjumping Equitation and Showjumping over 2 days. All girls competed on 2 horses each.

The girls managed to achieve some ‘Q’s, a few ribbons and overall places both days.

Equitation results:-
Bella- Katy :- 2nd 70cm
- Peri:- 3rd 70cm

Showjumping:-
Bella- Katy:- 2nd 80cm
- Bluey:- 3rd 1m
Tavay- Gallon:- 5th 80cm

Well done to all 3 ladies, you did the club proud displaying great sportsmanship.

Shout out to Ariarna, Tracey & Katrina for assisting with duties over the weekend. We all know without volunteers these days can’t run.

Great advice, please take the time to read.

𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀 | Heat stress and dehydration can occur when a horse is exercised in high temperatures, causing their core temperature to rise and leading to distress. Cooling your horse quickly and effectively is crucial in these conditions. Here's how you can help:

❄️ Aggressive Cooling:
- Use cool or iced water to drench the entire body.
- Keep applying water until it runs off the horse cold—this ensures the heat is being transferred away effectively.
- If there’s no breeze, walk the horse while sponging or hosing to aid heat transfer through evaporation. A fan or shade can also help create the necessary cooling effect.

💦 Hydration:
- Offer small, frequent drinks of water. Avoid letting the horse gulp large amounts at once, as this could upset their stomach and discourage further drinking.
- Electrolytes can assist with rehydration once their temperature is back to normal. In severe cases, veterinary fluids may be necessary.

🐴 Prevention Tips:
- Pre-hydrate your horse with electrolytes 24–48 hours before exercising in high temperatures.
- Take regular breaks in the shade and offer water throughout the ride.

Remember, acting quickly and effectively during times of heat stress can make all the difference to your horse’s wellbeing.

With Christmas & New Year almost here, remember that fireworks can scare horses, dogs and other animals. Be prepared to try and keep your animals safe. Your neighbours or community may not be use to the troubles caused when letting off crackers and fireworks.
If you can, turn on flood lights and have the horses in a secure area. The lights help dim the explosive light show and a secure paddock fences help them from escaping or getting hurt. Try not to leave equipment or machinery in their paddocks as they run blindly when scared and in a herd they all run together.

Hope this helps a bit to prepare for the night.
