Our latest Puppy Preschool graduates stole our hearts with their cuteness! Congrats to Ginger, Kai, Maggie, Oakley, and Shadow for mastering new social skills and making furry friends along the way.

Our Puppy Preschool sessions typically take place on Tuesday evenings over a 4-week period. Led by our skilled vet nurse Jodie, these classes are a great way to help your pup socialise and learn. Plus, one evening includes a Q&A session with one of our vets and another gives a 'back end' tour of our clinic.

If you think your furry friend would benefit from joining our classes, give us a call on 9841 5422 to secure their spot!

It's time for some myth busting!

A few dental-related myths are still floating around, which can mislead owners about the best dental care for their beloved pets. All of the below myths are not true and can result in unnecessary discomfort:
🦷 Home dental care means no veterinary dental treatment
🦷 My pet is too old/unwell to undergo a dental procedure
🦷 My pet is still eating, so they mustn't be in pain
Have a read of our blog post for more details.

Many of you would remember Dr Farand Thompson, who was a long-term locum at Mira Mar Vets from the end of 2020 until the beginning of 2022. Whilst Dr Farand was with us in Albany, he was also involved in an exciting research project using ultrasound techniques on whale sharks off the coast of Exmouth. We are excited to announce that the research was recently published, so congratulations to Farand and the team of scientists involved!

Did you know: that Mira Mar Vets has the most advance dental equipment in the Great Southern region? We have a full dental x-ray suite, and a dental x-ray profile is provided as part of the service for ALL animals undergoing a dental procedure.
This means we have accurate information about the state of your pet’s tooth roots - so that all diseased teeth can be identified, and also ensuring that no teeth are extracted unnecessarily.
A lot of dental disease occurs BELOW the gumline, as the image below shows, so dental x-rays are the best way to detect disease before it is obvious externally.

It's one of our favourite days of the year today... it's Take Your Dog to Work Day!
Many companies participate in this annual event, which encourages employees to bring their furry friends to the office. Studies have shown that having pets in the workplace can boost morale, reduce stress, and increase productivity. It also promotes a sense of community among coworkers and provides opportunities for bonding over animals, and a reminder to take regular breaks!
So, if you're lucky enough to be able to bring your dog to work today, enjoy the companionship of your four-legged friend and work hard!
