**IMPORTANT INFORMATION **
Karim will be away on a much deserved break from Sunday 21st May to Thursday 8th June 23.
During this time our office will still be open and taking calls as usual for supply collections, bookings and veterinary issues.
Southern Highlands Equine Centre(SHEC) will be tending to our veterinary calls while Karim is away. You may still call our office to discuss your equine concerns as usual between Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm.

No need for a foster mare anymore xx

It is with a very heavy heart that we are on an urgent search for a foster mare for our beautiful 7 week old foal Fox (Sir Foxley Tora V), who today lost his mum, Whitney 😞

Location: Bolong (Berry, NSW) 2 hours south of Sydney

We loved Whitney so much; she was a fantastic mum to her foals and had the most beautiful soul. We promised her we would look after her boy, and hopefully, with the power of social media, we can find him a foster mum.

Faecal egg counts are a useful tool in determining whether your worming program is efficient but are not the only determining factor. There are many factors to ensuring your worming program is working for your horse that involve discussing the horses age and weight, the time between worms, what was used last time, and how your paddocks are maintained.
We have found in the last year, the humid, wet environment has contributed to worm eggs thriving more effectively in paddocks and consequently increasing worm burdens amongst our equine companions. It has also been recognized that the typical "wormy, dull coated" horse may not be the only tell tale sign of a worm burden, as now the shiny coat competition horse is also resulting in positive worm counts. Here’s an interesting one we haven’t come across before …… a palomino thoroughbred. Interestingly she is registered on the Studbook as a chestnut, but in real life a true golden beauty.
Now in foal to another stunning palomino via frozen insemination, this golden gem was a pleasure to breed, and definitely sparked some interesting discussion amongst the clinic.
